I am super happy with their decision to preserve the cards instead of nerfing them! Opens up possibilities going forward.
I was fine with Rag and the gang staying in Standard, but it was obvious they were going to keep tuning Classic this year as well. Seeing them rotate was the lesser of two evils. Refunding dust and letting us keep the cards in Wild as well was a nice touch.
Why move Azure Drake and Ragnaros the Firelord to Wild? Is Blizzards reasoning because they are in too many decks? They are great cards and people love using them. Why ruin a good thing? This is just the beginning and I believe over time many more Classic and Basic cards will me designated "Hall of Fame". This combined with three ~130 card expansions have me wondering about the future of Hearthstone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. They move great cards to Wild and will replace them with shit, sit back and watch it happen.
I hope they move MORE classic and basic cards to wild, very exited for the changes.

And replaced them with what, more pirates?
Removing cards is only good when the replacements are viable and good to play.
Do people not realize that wild exists and that people play it? Click a button, all of your favorite cards are still right there in the game. Also you're getting free dust to make new fun cards. Why the complaining?
I enjoy playing Wild but don't understand creating this "Hall of Fame" for really good Classic cards. Its basically just a nerf without calling it a nerf and there will be other cards added to the Hall of Fame in the future, you can count on that. It isn't like Rag, Azure Drake, and Sylvannas are OP cancer cards that are ruining the game. I think Blizzard's reasoning for this whole Hall of Fame thing is BS. "These cards are in a lot of decks." Yeah and? They are good cards, it doesn't mean banish them to Wild. I just feel like the Hall of Fame along with 3 expansions this year is going to sour a lot of people on Hearthstone.
They're not OP cards ruining the game, you're right. But they limit the design space of the development team, which is what you don't understand.
This is the same BS they gave us when rotating Naxxramas: "Sludge Belcher and Antique Healbot are in every deck and limiting design space!" and so they went to Wild. What came to replace them as decent 5mana taunts and heals? Nothing.
It boggles my mind how some people can still believe this "design space" mythos excuse. Freeing design space is only good when you make good use of it.
Completely agree with OP. Rather than simply using a couple of brain cells and printing some new cards, Blizzard decides to take away any decent, unique, and fun cards in order to have more space for shitty filler cards.
You do realize that not a single card is being "take away", right? You can still play with your cards on wild.. It is actually better than standard in a lot of times..
THIS, a lot.

"As part of ongoing communication with the WoW developers, it has been agreed that Hearthstone is now the official source of WoW lore. We hope you look forward to seeing Ragnaros, Lightlord in Legion!"
They want warlock to play 29-30 minions. I tell you. They just removed the ONLY decent spell card warlock even has access too. Shadowflame being one that sometimes shines, but without PO it's probably not even worth it anymore, unless you play some very late game stuff.
So thanks for killing mid-range Warlock. Unless they start to steer away from denying Warlock decent spell cards, this type of deck is simply over.

I think it's great for the game they moved cards that were ubiquitous to wild and are giving us dust and letting us keep them. Wild is fun if you try it. We gotta have faith that they will release cards in those mana slots that are also good but would not have seen play had they kept these old cards in standard. If they don't, then yeah, I'll be mad they moved my Azure drake to wild. But I won't miss playing against Ragnaros and Sylvannas in every deck that isn't aggro forever.
Move the entire classic set to wild I say, the entire point of rotation is to make things feel different. It's better than nerfing the cards you like since you can at least still play them in wild. Not to mention the free dust they are giving. I am quite happy with the change myself.
Actually you lose 1200 dust if you have normal ones and DE them and craft golden. If you own normal and do nothing you will get 1600 refund, if you craft golden you get 0 dust refund. (3200 to craft - 3200 refund = 0 ) so in the end you will have 1600 dust less.
If you DE the normal one, you will have just 1200 dust less. So this is the price for the golden versions, it is not totally free, because you will miss the 1600 refund for the normal one.
But still, totally worth it if you love golden cards like I do.
These are great progressive changes.
The way they handled the free dust thing and comments about giving Wild some more love restores some of my faith in the development team.
Change is inevitable and necessary for the health of the game.
Sure some people will miss playing their favourites in Standard (I have all the cards being rotated out) but life moves on.
I see this as an overwhelmingly positive move.

Will King Krush be playable at last?
I can't disagree on any particular point. Well said. As a Priest player, this is fine!
The light shall burn you! Unless...you're wearing SPF 15 or better...
Hi
Refunding full dust value without actually having to disenchant softens the blow considerably.
I'm more anxious about this 3 expansions a year malarkey. They fill expansions with far too much trash.
Don't celebrate just yet.
OP was completely right. Blizz just opened a door, and I can tell you right now it's probably not shutting any time soon
"Hall of Fame"? No, there are definitely more cards that will be rotated later on.
As a Standard main, I don't like this at all :(

Ragnaros is terrible for the game, good riddance.

Adapt or die. Free dust and change is healthy. Plus it's not like the card can't be used. Wild needs this boost
