Excellent write-up. I'd argue that the previous rotation was overhyped. The pre-Standard nerfs killed more archetypes than the actual rotation did, destroying all Druids and Handlock. In comparison, the proper rotation only really hurt Secret Paladin. Everyone lost powerful cards, but there were less powerful cards to replace them.
The new rotation is different. Almost all pre-Gadgetzan decks are heading into Wild. Renodecks are going away, Dragons are going away, Fatigue decks are going away, some of the more insane Leeroy combos are going away, and Shaman will once more fall into the night. It's going to be insane.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the post!
This is exactly what i was trying to say with that post. Nothing really changed after the first rotation because, for all intents and purposes, we still had most of the key cards and archetypes that we'd grown used to over the years. In a way they kinda felt like they'd always just been there. This next rotation is going to be a huge change and will probably bring us all new archetypes as well.
Every rotation is going to be impactful, that is obvious. But none more so than this next one. The game, as most of us have known it since we started playing, will be almost unrecognizable. That's a good thing, I'm optimistic about the future of the game but it's going to take sometime to get used to!
A VERY informative, thought through post, well thought out!
Sharing it already on messenger, facebook, whatsapp, etc for fellow hs players!
by the way, seeing how smart you overlooked the whole change, i wouldn't like to suddenly have you against me in a game ;)
well done sir, well done
Thanks for the great comment, really glad you enjoyed the post!
Don't stress too much about facing me on ladder - I'm at best an average player and stubbornly persist with decks like Free Mage in the hope that one day I'll git gud.
Speculative questions like this add nothing to the discussion, because I can always invent a scenario where Blizzard caused the Holocaust and ask what if.
Missing lethal since June 2015.

Everything is better in golden!
Only decks surviving close to their current form are pirate warrior (scary), miracle rogue (scary), and freeze mage (not so scary).
Cthun decks and jade decks will have most of their core survive, as will secret hunter, but they all lose important support cards.
Interesting times for sure, change is what keeps games like this alive.

Yay no more renobich!
SMORC!!
thank god no more reno and dragon bs
Old decks need to die for new ones to appear, that's how the game works.. and that's good since that's how the game evolves
Awesome post and recap. Now I can't help to feel hyped about next year rotation (I know we still have three months ahead)
I would love to see Reno rotate and new archetypes appear (I'm looking at you, Blizz)
