One quibble with OP's point about Mulch being only Druid removal - what about Naturalize?
I can't actually remember the last time someone played Mulch against me
I all honesty I did forget about Naturalize but one would have to be desperate to use it. Mulch is still around, especially in the Kun combo decks which are getting more popular - much better than Jade Druid imo.
Wow, really nice thread you put together. I appreciate the time you took to make this.
I think next years rotation is monumental for the direction that HS goes. A lot of iconic archetypes will either be taking a huge blow or eliminated all together. I think with 3 sets of cards rotating out VS the 2 that rotated out last year (GVG and Naxx) will be pretty huge too. I think the next adventure release will determine a lot.
Some immediate needs: Healing for Rogue, AoE for Rogue, Healing for Warlock, Single target removal for Druid/Pala, 2 Drops for priest (I have yet play a game where Mana Geode actually creates a 2/2 body... the 2/4 taunt was the best thing Priest had going for it..with the loss of a lot of Dragon support, Priest will take another huge step back.).
Viable healing for all classes honestly.
I am sure there are more things I am forgetting but these just come to the top of my mind.
Excellent write-up. I'd argue that the previous rotation was overhyped. The pre-Standard nerfs killed more archetypes than the actual rotation did, destroying all Druids and Handlock. In comparison, the proper rotation only really hurt Secret Paladin. Everyone lost powerful cards, but there were less powerful cards to replace them.
The new rotation is different. Almost all pre-Gadgetzan decks are heading into Wild. Renodecks are going away, Dragons are going away, Fatigue decks are going away, some of the more insane Leeroy combos are going away, and Shaman will once more fall into the night. It's going to be insane.
And all i want is the return of Handlock, the most iconic and awesome deck HS has ever seen :( , well one can hope.
Nice write-up btw. thanks for taking the time. I am very excited for the rotation too, mostly because i am curious and can't stand the current meta, but also because i think this might be the most important release for HS, deciding if the game will continue to be popular.
it seems like freeze and miracoli will be the last OG standing decks barring any nerf or buffs. I cant see control warrior being viable when jade or mid-range decks are doing so well.
Next expansion needs some neutral heals in it that's for sure. HS has always struggled with early game minion balance. They need to either give every class some op 1/2 mana drops or make shittier ones for everyone. I've been playing shadow-verse lately and I'm really impressed by the early game minion design, they almost do nothing and are completely understated but they have a lot of value when they are used in conjunction with other minions later in the game.
Shaman is not going anywhere. My Shaman decks will lose Totem Golem, that's it. The rest are good cards but replaceable.
...and tunnel trogg. Shaman was pretty bad with just totem golem but tunnel trogg made it viable. Shaman will still be in the meta but its taking a bigger hit than you might think.

I've had mulch played against me once in maybe 100 druid games, and I'm pretty sure he got it from a discover. Nobody runs mulch/naturalize in their decks. At least not in the current meta of jade druids.
In my opinion, this is the best season ever for Hearthstone. There's a good number of viable decks for us "normal players" (aka from rank 20 to rank 5). Even if a lot of people are complaining about Pirate Warrior etc... I feel like we're gonna miss such a deck variety when the rotation hits us next year... Wild will be waaaaay more interesting to play

had 1xmulch in malygos druid (previous meta), but not naturalize
Such a stupid card. Rather than printing good defensive cards like Sludge Belcher, they just made one absolutely broken comeback guy that you need to draw to win and that makes so many games about just drawing it in time.

Replace your Tunnel Troggs with Patches and Small Time Buccaneer.
I'm scared for the future of the mage class. I forgot exactly how many important cards were leaving. Their top 3 decks are getting wrecked hard with this next rotation.
I want to believe this could be addressed but when you look at the other classes there's going to be a lot of gaps to fill in deck types and that's a lot to fit into one themed expansion and still make things fresh. A class is gonna get the short end of the stick, the question is which one.
Pretty sure Reno will hide behind Leeroy Jenkins and avoid the rotation hammer somehow. I still have that beam of light giving me hope Reno will not die out of standard. Either that, or we kinda get some reprinted model that kinda benefits us on a close/similar way. Technically speaking, it should be the safest bet given the fact they're printing cards pushing us towards the playstyle of building "Reno" decks and considering they cannot be "Reno" without the star himself, he'll probably find a way to pay his dues making everyone rich.
Missing lethal since June 2015.

Thanks again.
Most cancer card - Fandral is still here ...
It's so sad to see Reno go away. He'll be missed RIP Reno Jackson 2015-2017 "This time he's not going to be able to fully heal himself"

S39 Legend - Quest Rogue, S38 Legend - Murloc Paladin, S37 Legend - Miracle Rogue, S36 Top 200 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S35 - Finished Rank 51 Legend - Aggro Shaman, S34 Legend - Aggro Shaman
To be honest, I have not used Tunnel Trogg in months. Now that the jade cards are mixed into my deck I don't see much of a use for it.

League of explorers. Almost every legendary in that set had an impact on the meta. Every adventure should aim to be like that one.
Can't wait for Reno to rotate out.

Stupid.
