Not salt. (maybe a lil) I just want to understand how so many people I face have such huge collections. I've been playing for over a year now and I've been able to craft 2 whole legendaries and have maybe another 5 from packs and that includes some real duds. But a lot of the decks on here ask for so many legendaries, which I get makes like an "ideal" deck, but I also play a ton of people who have no shortage of gold and purple cards out the wazoo. I just played a rank 17 match against a paladin who dropped a Justicar, Tirion, Ysera, Cairne, Ragnaros Lightlord, N'Zoth and Black Knight. And that's with 12 more cards left in their deck. Level 17. I'd expect i I was in the legend ranks but this is like scrub tier. And it seems normal to see at least 3 hit the field in every game. i just dont get how yall are able to afford so many. Do you just dust everything you get and only focus on one deck? I try to have a deck for every class, even if it's not a great one but I feel like even after a year playing this game I cant keep up with people who have these billion dust collections. It's so disheartening.
You get 40 gold a day by quests with rerolls this leads to an average of 47.7 gold per day.
The average player gets 3.63 wins per day thus generating 12.1 gold per day.
You get 1 pack per week from brawl which is a free 100 gold per week.
So just doing this for 1 year should get you 27027 gold or 270 packs which has a minimum of 6 Legendaries due to the pity rule and most likely 7 all without spending any money and only playing an average amount.
Keep in mind this doesn't even include all the dust you are getting from ranked every season.
(All I do is log on re-roll quests and then log out and then only play once I have three quests. This gets the most gold per time played.)
Also you get good decks at rank 15 although the players don't become good until rank 5. I have seen some terribads playing tournament winning lists while having no idea how the combo works.
I have the cards for most all top tier decks, spend no money. I play enough to complete my daily quests and get my free pack from brawl each week. I've played since release. Also, people at rank 17 right now could have been really close to legend last season. It's still really early this season anyways, and plus people heave the choice of playing wild or standard. They could have played wild all this season so far and just switched over to standard today.
Yeah it's nothing special nowadays to see people on rank 18-19 with their meta decks full of legendaries. I actually just dust legendaries and epics I'll never use and craft those I need. I'm playing for like 1 year, crafted Dr. Boom, Justicar Trueheart, N'Zoth, the Corruptor and Sylvanas Windrunner. Got some other great legendaries from packs. My strategy is to build one or two decks at the time and try to get the cards I need for those decks. For example I'm playing N'Zoth Priest right now, actually started playing control priest before whispers of the old gods. So I crafted all the cards I need for that deck and can use some of them in other decks too. The best way to get legendaries is 1. Make your daily quests, 2. Play tavern brawl every weak for a free extra pack, 3. Play arena.
To be truly F2P, it will take forever.. I think most of us just cave and buy expansions and packs here or there.. it's enough to get dust and hopefully have luck with packs from quests/ brawls
just dust all ur shit and craft the good ones. i main druid so i crafted all the druid legendaries including stag helm and then moved on to the neutral ones. i just crafted an alexstrasza actually and a og rag as well. i pulled like a onyxia, ysera, and bloodmage thalnos which are the only semi decent legendaries i got from packs. the shit ones i got like mill house manastorm or nat the dark fisher i dusted. i also dusted hogger doom of elwynn cuz i just didn't have the right warrior cards for it. i also dusted a prophet velen cuz i heard it wasn't even that good for priest. i also accidentally crafted a Rhonin for mage after clicking out of the disenchant window. fuck i wasted 1600 dust that time. but anyway my main point is that you have to grind the shit for gold esp when you are f2p like me. also disenchant crap you get which is about 80 percent of stuff u get from packs. if u just keep doing that in a year you should be pretty good.
don't you think that guy just farming a golden hero on low ranks?
I spent money only for full LoE, 3 wings of Naxx and 50 packs WoToG on my main account. playing since october, farming in non-ranked my 100 gold per day. crafted Thalnos, Sylvanas, Leeroy and Van Cleef, got from packs Antonidas, golden Tirion, Onyxia, Y'Shaaraj and some useless legendaries like Anomalus and new Nat.
p.s. I have a f2p account and all these guys and grill came from 100 coins packs (there also Gahzrilla and Xaril).
It's a snowball effect. As you get a larger collection, more and more of what you get turns into dust which turns into a bigger collection.
For example, if my friend from work and I both opened 50 classic packs, I'd probably get 3000-5000 dust while he'd likely get ~1000. I can use that extra dust to fill my collection which then gets me even MORE dust as we open more packs. Additionally, since I've completed most of my collection and don't really need to buy packs, I've basically already stopped buying WoG packs. I only have a few of the legendaries but I have 20k+ dust, so if I find a decklist that requires one, I'll just craft it.
By doing this, I can start saving NOW for the next expansion and I'll open 100+ packs when the next expansion comes out, filling my collection and turning any others I open mostly to dust. On the other hand, my friend is frantically using any gold he gets to buy packs and then dusting cards he doesn't have 3+ copies of to finish off decks he wants to play.
Granted, I'm an infinite arena player and I've spent some money. I bought the WoG and TGT pre-orders, as well as LoE and Naxx with cash (BRM with gold). Those all cetainly help. But, basically, it can feel hopeless when you first start. The hard part is reaching that tipping point - this is much more difficult for those who started within the last year or so as they probably didn't buy a ton of classic packs. If you started around when I did (~GvG release) or earlier, you probably bought a lot of classic packs since there weren't a ton of other options.
I have played from the beginning and have not spent any money on this game and have 38 lengendaries that I either opened or crafted. Some of them I dusted to craft others. That list of 38 does not include the legendaries from LOE, BM, or Nax.
I've played for a couple of years, but mostly arena, so when i do play some ranked I have a p2win collection but I never spent any money on hearthstone, and I'm usually low rank as I still prefer arena.
Well, I'm playing since the closed beta, so I've gathered some cards until now. I always finish the daily quests (always trying to get a 60+ gold quest), since they are the most important way to make gold... Arena is really good too if you can make a good deck and afford to get 7+ wins constantly.
obviously, it's all a set-up scheme. The truth is, we're all paid Blizzard employees who try to make you think that you'll get legendaries eventually if you keep playing.
but there are no legendaries, everything is a lie, god is dead, sail hatan.
on a more serious note: Luck and clever dust management. If you are good at arena, play that exclusively, if not, try at least to complete your dailies or, if you're motivated, also earn the maximum of 100 gold for 3 wins.
Always dust golden cards, sometimes even if you don't have the card yet, but don't plan on using it anytime soon

lol
i played for one year. crafted around 5 or 6 legendaries. no money paid.
Time or money. And luck for pulling good legendaries.
well personally I've spent around $650 on this game since it came out. so there now you know.
also I sincerely doubt OP has been playing "consistently" for a year. Do your quest EVERY DAY.
Say "Wow" for RNG!

Do your dailies every day, you can get 2-3 legendaries per month doing almost nothing.
