I honestly think if Blizzard would give velens chosen back, priest would have a chance to be viable in the current meta. That's the one card that allows them to compete with the early turn minions and still have some board control.
Definitely true, Priest got shafted when Paladin's got Forbidden Healing. Priests can be irritating, but no early game threats and no defenses to heal yourself. Paladins got Forbidden Healing and Ragnaros, Lightlord which is absolutely insane. And BTW, Priest decks now rank 20-23 out of 23 deck types on TempoStorm.
Until Entomb rotates out, Priest can't get any good cards. Because Entomb is too broken & OP crap.
Entomb doesn't make Priest as a Tier-1/2 class. Just because a class card being broken & OP doesn't mean the entire class deserves being treated as a trash tier class and not getting good cards.
/Facepalm. Priest was very competitive with dragon priest and control priest prior to WoToG and Shaman was crap. Now the two have reversed, its a meta shift, that is part of the game. Nine classes can't all have a tier 1 deck all the time. Also I believe that priest is still fairly competitive in Wild, so go play there if you want. Throwing a temper tantrum and saying they should just "kill the class" because it moved out of the meta for a couple months is just childish.
I fully agree. I could be biased because they are my two favorite classes but I feel like to a lesser extent Priest and a major extent Mage got the really short end of the stick when it comes to the old gods.

why does every class have to be 100% competitive all of the time? Before Standard Dragon and Elise Priest were both usable decks, and to an extent they still are.
Besides, why would you want the most frustrating class to play against to be overly present in the meta. When Priest is actually reliable he becomes very frustrating very fast
Usable is not competitive. Dragon and Elise Priest were never better than a Tier 2 deck AND Priest has never been a Tier 1 deck. My question to you is why does Priest have to be non-competitive 100% of the time?
Priest is more than capable of going legend (did it myself last season) - what more do you want? Stop being a sheep believing everything tempo storm says to the letter. Tech your decks, beat the meta. Perfectly possible with priest if you bothered to try.
How does one learn to tech properly? I tried yesterday and it was a complete failure, getting crushed by the very things I was teching for.

Every answer to this thread is off-topic. The real question isn't if the Priest is viable, it doesn't matter if it is viable or competitive. The question is: why can't a non-competitive class exist?

Why include a non-competitive class at all? You've explained my point. People don't play this game to lose. Before you say they can play for fun, ask yourself how fun losing is. From a control vs control standpoint Priest wins. In a heavy, Agro, Tempo, Combo meta which most of the past have been, Priest is not competitive or viable. Going back to my original point; if it's not feasible, why continue its existence?

1) Why not? It doesn't hurt anyone.
2) For fun is a good answer, because Hearthstone has a MMR system, so even with a deck of 30 Magma Ragers you would have 50% wr.

Maybe you should tell us how you tech, so that we can know what NOT to do when teching.
But seriously, if u are losing to the things that you are teching against, you are doing it wrong.

Aggro Shaman was born after Tunnel Trogg appeared. When League of Explorers hit. And has been kicking butt since then. It was made more powerful by Dr. 4 but it certainly wasn't 'crap'. Pre-LoE, yeah sure.
As for Priests, it's really not that bad. Zoolock, Aggro Shaman and every flavour of warrior are pretty favourable matchups. If your tech didn't work... maybe you were just unlucky. Trollison Jones, Doomsayer and/or Pyromancer, Auchenai Circle, Excavated Evil, SW Pain and Death, Cabal and Entomb to steal their slightly more impressive shit... that all didn't work out? I just don't know what else to tell you.

Probably will need more, and which ones? Also are you playing in Wild or in Standard? If in Wild, two Deathlords and Sludge Belchers might be enough. In Standard, there are much fewer and worse options available.
My Control Warlock (in Wild) has two Mistress of Pains, two Defender of Arguses, four other buff cards for MoP, two Voidwalkers and two Antique Healbots. This totals in at least 20 heal and four taunts of decent size, and I also have 3 AoEs there. Yet, although my wr against aggro is pretty good, I still sometimes lose to aggro.

No one is running priest in tournament because every one runs miracle rogue DUH priest is still good on ladder whatever dude just play stop whine....
Priest just needs so early game minions.
