Been stuck around 8 all season just trying out decks, next season I'll commit to real climb. Playing a lot of Oil and Patron. Climb with Patron, drop with Oil. I'm okay with it if it means I'm a better player for it in the future, and they're fun decks to play. Paladin's are tough for me with both classes; on paper they look like great match ups but by the time you get to that tempo swing you're down a ton of health from Blessings, Keepers, and Secretkeeper buffs. That's really the one big issue but I'm facing an absurd amount of Pallies on ladder.
I considered making a push but really I think if you aren't exceptional getting to rank 5 to legend on the last week is asking for a let down.

There's still plenty of time, don't get discouraged. If you manage and minimize your misplays, you'll get there faster. People at rank 5-3 make a decent amount of misplays and can easily be punished to lose the game. You are playing the correct decks if you are facing a lot of pallys. Patron and Rogue are a good counter to them. People will be playing dumb down decks such as secret pally, aggro shaman, face and other aggro decks toward the end of the season to shorten their game play time and it's also easy to pilot. Playing decks that counters the meta is the way to go. Attached that with skill and that equals = Legend. :)
On the Chinese server, you can pay/hire someone to get to Legend for you. :)
Darn NA server, making me actually play my account. :(
I don't think I'll make it with a week left in the season, I'll probably tryhard to 5 (because golden epic hype!) and if I can do that tonight or tomorrow then I'll probably make a giant push this weekend to see how high I can make it, then try to just grind out the last bit next week.
For those that have made it already congrats, for those who are still trying to make it good luck! :)
Oh, and has anyone had any luck with Aggro shaman? I'd have to check matchups, but I have a Shaman quest and actually really like the deck itself it just seemed inconsistent to climb with.

you can complete your shaman quest on casual as well. i would use the deck there.

If I do casual I'd probably do something dumb like Dragon Shaman (Dragons are amazing), but since I'm at rank 8 honestly losing stars isn't that big of a deal as long as it's a couple (generally you will steal wins with Aggro Shaman so it's not really much of a gamble; if it gets on a streak then it's gravy).
I'll probably resume grinding with Control Priest honestly. It's definitely a comfort pick, and feels absurd in this meta.

Got to rank 6 with my own mid pala list (by far my highest ever) Nothing really anything out of the ordinary, but a list that both has more early game to combat game losing mully's and more late game to deal with all the other shit out there. I fucking deserve this rank after beating a secretdin tonight who had 2 4/5 keepers on the board by something like turn 3-4.. It was ridiculous. I waded through so many secrets to systematically dismantle him. He must have played them all pretty much.
The standard at this rank is still identical to rank 18. I played a legend player tonight who had board dominance and lost the game (3-4 turns later) because he decided to trade his 3/3's against my 1/1's instead of using his 3/4's, allowing me to consecrate the resulting 3/2's off the board and buy myself several turns. This is basic stuff. That's a guy who has been higher rank than I have ever been and he's making what this thread refer to as "rank 20 plays". Take from that what you will.
Last night was even more ridiculous with the druid who desperately tried to combo me from about 26 from about turn 7 and I bought myself several additional turns with heals off the truesilver. I was 9-0 last night. I was 10-5 the night previous and I thought that was crazy at the time. The match-ups where almost totally, tempo mage, druid, zoo (mostly) and pala (various) on the first night from 14-11, and the same from 11-7; tonight was pretty much only pala and druid but I played far fewer games.
I guess of the games I shouldn't have won the highlights were the secretdin from tonight and the face hunter who threw it all at my face; turning down high value trades, and as a result got some of his own medicine by losing around turn 6 to my late-game focused mid-range deck.
Congrats on getting to 6! Hopefully you make 5 before the end of season!
Super frustrated and I'm just out of answers. Was at rank 4 tonight, just kept losing and couldn't stop the bleeding. won 1, lost 2 and on and on. Back down to rank 6 now. Got to rank 4 on secredin but was losing so I tried to switch to zoo, kept losing, switched to combo druid, kept losing.
Deathlord has been a pain for me in this last week. It's funny because last year i could classify him as a bad card, almost like Fel Reaver, but he's a good card now, maybe because Priests are not afraid to play it on turn 3 anymore. When i'm using Druid and can finally kill it, it will bring a Shade if it is turn 5 and a big minion if it's turn 6, haha. Happened with every Priest in the last week, but i'm not mad at the class or the card, just sharing the most influent factor that is denying my climb.
Rank 5 again, 6 days left... I'm losing hope, so i guess it's time to experiment with some inner fire Priest.
After 3 seasons ending up rank 1 and after 8 attempts the last week at the last boss, today I finally hit legend.
The relief when you have been close for 3 season and after failing 7 times at last boss tilting 3 times to rank 2 is unbelivable.
In the end it was Zoo that killed a warrior with only 3 or 4 cards left top decking Gormok the Impaler and at the same time life tapping power overwhelming I won with 20 damage over his 19 hp.
I will enjoy HS now, with decks that are fun to play. No more legend attempts for me for a loooong time, the grind is real.
I will always come to this thread each season on Hearthpwn and help others to reach legend.

Thanks a lot guys! Having the Legend card back is amazing :-)
So I want to share my deck experience hoping it will help someone. From rank 12 to legend I only used 2 decks.
Zoo Zoo deck called EU #1 Modgnik Zoo with the only change that I switched out one Sea Giant or Dr Boom for Enhance o Mecano (I could never decide on which version was best and honestly I still don't know). That card is underrated. If you have at least 3 minions on the board it means you pretty much will get a windfury. Even with you weakest minion (1/1 Imp) together with Power overwhelming it means you get 10 damage. With a 3 attack minion + Power overwhelming the damage is whopping 14!
It's defensive capabilities are also great. You have an even match with both sides having minions on the board. You drop the Enhance o Mecano and say hello to divine shield giving you free trades.
Anti Aggro Priest From rank 2 to my first 6 attempts on last boss in rank 1 was with this priest deck. I noticed the huge amount of zoo, secret paladin, tempo mage, face shaman and combo druid and thought an anti aggro priest with light of naruu would be great and it was. But I'm not gonna lie. Anything outside of this (ok Patron Warriors could be handled as well) are going to be rough.
Freeze mage, Anyfin, Control Warriors, Reno locks are all pretty much dead end. This deck is probably best when a new season starts with all the aggro out there.
The only thing I changed from time to time was to switch a Cabal for an Entomb (if I felt I was facing a bit too many combo druids stealing their 4 attack minions could be the difference between winning and losing).
Zoo also did well against paladins, druids and tempo mages BUT everyone knows the zoo deck inside and out and it's hard getting that extra edge. I noticed people got caught off guard with the light of naruu and played a bit awkward. For example it became an instant target to remove although it wasn't a threat at that point.
That surprise factor gave me a slight edge in the matchups. The best part was when opponent gets down the hp of my deathlord and I heal it up with light of naruu. Those light of naruus hiding behind a deathlord could snowball pretty good :-)
But today, when I hit legend was a day full of warriors in rank 1 so I swithced to Zoo and on the second attempt beat a Control warrior for the Legend!
Rank 1 for the 4 season in a row.
Missed out on the last boss (I win from legend) 4 times yesterday.
*sigh*. Wasn't even close in any of the 4 attempts.
Oh well....will keep pushing today. Time is my only limit unfortunately :(
welp after I hit legend I'm playing about 75% combo druids, guess I'm gonna take a break till next season...pretty boring now lol
