I need to pick my deck as a returning player, but I don't have any idea what the current meta is like. (has an expac just came out, so in this case it will be all over place?)
are there any signs of what it's going to be like, as this would help inform the choice I make.
I might just take demon Hunter or Hunter though as they seem quite safe. I was thinking about druid, but if control is not faring well right now then this would be a bad choice.

Control (at least real control) will sadly never be meta again, be it standard or wild, the closest thing we'll ever get from now on are decks that play defensive in the earlygame and then play unstoppable lategame winconditions bordering VERY closely on (and often overlapping with) OTK or infinite burn.
Aggro will always be at least decent given the nature of the game and the fact that real control is no longer a thing.
Anything else is likely at least playable, can't say much about standard but I'd guess (well made) midrange decks (skeleton mage I believe is an example but don't quote me on that) are playable to good and (of course) degenerate decks (OTK/mill/infinite) have at the very least a corner of the meta reserved for them dispite (toxic) disruption being more prevalent then ever before.

Thank you, appreciated.
I have a deck from a couple of years ago for warrior that uses mechs and pirates I think. it was a very popular and strong deck at the time when I was playing it. I was thinking of trying to build something for Wild and hopefully being able to use some of those cards from the deck in question...
I can't get in to see my cards until I pick a free deck though, so really just trying to decide so I can see what cards I have.
I'm afraid I can't be of much help since Idk what the free decks are, I believe skeleton mage is one of them and that seems to be at least decent in both formats (I mean...if MY stupid version can have around a 50% wr in wild diamond then a well made version has to be at least decent) but I can't say much other than that, if you could give me more info I MAY be able to give advice on how the wild deck you are talking about would perform but I'm not too confident

it's a mech mage now I think, they all got changed when the new expac came out.
I made a big spell mage last night, so going to be trying to play this as have wanted to play mage again for a long time. It was the first class I picked up, but I moved onto warlock pretty fast as Zoo decks were cheap and mage decks were not.
This was a deck I already had most of the cards for, so can eventually dive back into some mage. I might even invest some dust in making the freeze/skellie mage... Always wanted to get my revenge for all those Freeze mages that messed with me in the past, ha ha.
Also thinking about crafting the rest of what I need to make an infuse beast hunter, but I think one of the legendary cards was just nerfed (the guy that summons the three dormant animal spirits... it says he was changed recently when I go to craft the card at least) I pulled a bunch of cards for that deck as well, so only need to craft 2 or 3 legendries to finish the deck... I am a sucker for decks that do fantastic things, and that usually means have a lot of legendary cards.

Nice try :D

I'm not joking. Imp warlock is a top tier deck, even after the nerf
They changed it to murloc now.

Both aggro and control is viable. You can check some of the top lists here: http://metastats.net/rank/legend/patch/
Thanks.
