Hello everybody! This topic is for discussion of Phase III of the Class Design Competition. To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about this week's entry format? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your example cards? Do you need help finding art? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you are not allowed drastic changes, so make sure that you've settled on your cards for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's cards? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
WARNING:
Please refrain from the following...
Advertising Your Entry. This is a new rule during Season 2. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your cards only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is balanced?". Yes, getting feedback on your cards is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your cards for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
Congrats to all the phase IV finalists. Great group. I'm a bit sad, and a bit relieved, I didn't make the cut. That was sooo damn much work. Not sure I really had the energy to do it all over again.
But, I hope you guys have the energy! Raise the bar even higher folks!
Why are you surprised? I Wild-Card-ed you because you were good. You know, my Phase II-III Wild Card from our first CCC went on to win the entire competition. *piles on the pressure*
Thanks for the support and congrats to all the finalists! These are super fun to make. I'm excited about this week since I can starts having cool evolutions in my sets, and I just couldn't resist putting my favorite pokemon in this week.
And just wondering, I just forgot my question in the second poll, but why did you go with the percentages, but not the amount of votes they got? If you did it like that, it would be like one giant poll, just split not to be overwhelming. The way you guys did it, made it seem like 2 separate polls, but that might've been what you were going for.
The reason was because we couldn't guarantee that we'd have the same number of people voting in both polls. If one poll got a lower voter turnout, say because there were a ton of huge developer announcements that everybody was much more concentrated on, then everybody in it would be at a big disadvantage. By taking percentages instead of the number of votes, we inherently weight for total number of voters.

Seriously though, I see a lot of the entries that have really cool mechanics or some complex-but-easy-to-pick-up interactions and it makes me feel that I went too "simplistic" with my hero, but it seems people dig that lol. I'm glad I didn't let you down with the Wild Card though. Good luck to everyone that made it.
BTW I really liked Elementalist, shame it didn't make the cut.
Umm just out of curiosity, will the removal of Naxx and GvG from standard play affect the rules in any way?
No. Future CCCs (if/when we do any more) will probably be affected in that we will avoid expansions/adventures that are not part of standard play when they take place. But as Naxx and GvG are currently part of standard play and will be for the duration of this competition, there is no change.

I'm sad you didn't make it, I actually quite liked your class :(

Thanks, that means a lot to me. I'm not really that sad, there was some really good competition. I hate in the normal competitions when I lose out to some OP monstrostiy, but, I feel quite content losing to the current crop. I will say I threw my all into it. So, I can walk away knowing I did my best, and that's a nice feeling.
I think my class just wasn't as original as some of the others, and I think my hero power and mechanic were maybe a bit too complex. And my flavor was severely lacking overall compared to classes like yours and the Agent one (I really like his flavor the best and your mechanic the best, so two great entries moving on)

Thanks, I also voted for you ^-^. Not sure if my cards were too complex? I thought they were pretty good and worked well along each others in many different ways. Oh well, good luck on next phase !
There's a really confusing typo in the submission post. You say "4 Classic cards", where it should be "4 Naxx/GvG/BRM cards". I was slightly freaking out, thinking, how the heck are we supposed to go on just by showcasing more Classic cards?!

Hello, folks! Just a warning, Phase IV is not nearly as long as Phase III was, so don't be caught off guard by the deadline. The reason Phase IV is shorter is because (A) You only need to make 11 cards rather than 15 like back in Phase III and (B) Given the expansion themes, you have much more inherent direction with what you need to make. Your Naxx card should have something to do with death, at least a couple of your GvG cards should be Mechs and/or have Mech synergy, your BRM cards can start taking advantage of Dragon synergy or that mechanic it introduced where stuff costs less per minion that died that turn. You get the picture.

Already way ahead of you Asylum, only need to make one more Rare card from GvG and I'm good to go! Didn't want to be a last-minute poster this time. I barely finished in time for the deadline for the Classic Phase..
As I'm not part of further phases anymore i just want to wish good fun and luck to all that made it into phase IV and to at least conclude my elimination by sharing what was suppose to be my GvG legendary:
Bowser Jr. is just a spoiled little brat that always tries to do something unfair. That's your armor? No, it's not anymore. He uses his magic paintbrush to adjust the numbers a bit.
Also it would represent further synergy with both my classes hero power and armor mechanic.
Don't worry, I'm here to start bugging everyone with boatloads of crap again.
First, I'm going to start out with the CONFIRMED cards. These are going into this phase with probably 100% certainty.
These are cards I want to put in, but I have balancing issues:
Drop the Bass: I feel like the way to go is increase this to 5 mana, and then it should be fine?
Chant: Just not sure about the numbers on this card, if it's too rewarding or not rewarding enough.
Cards that I want to put in but have design issues with:
Cellobot: I actually like this card, but other people were hesistant, so feedback would be cool.
Dirgesinger: I don't like the fact that you have to pay so much attention to play order, because when two minions trade into each other the one that gets summoned is determined by which one was played last. It could become random, and thus be controlled by only killing 1 minion. Changing it to "friendly minions" only wouldn't fit on the card, so I'm not sure where to go with this.
