Tournaments were the real reason for nerfing Yogg, that is all.
"This is the most controversial card we've ever made. Some people LOVE Yogg, and others hate it. We felt like seeing Yogg in tournaments was not where we originally hoped it would end up. Yogg should be for players who want to have a lot of fun, but maybe not the card you see frequently in high-level tournaments. Yogg is relatively weak in power level for nearly every class at every level, but is slightly above average in 2 decks – Tempo Mage and Token Druid. We didn't want to nerf it so much that it couldn't still be a fun card for players who currently love Yogg. Yogg-Saron will now stop casting spells if, during Yogg-Saron’s battlecry, it is destroyed, silenced, transformed, or returned to its owner’s hand. We tried a bunch of things and we think this is a significant enough nerf that it could reduce the amount it gets seen (especially in tournaments), while still maintaining the dream for people who love the card."
So you want to ruin the game for us wild players, just so you can have a laugh once or twice when you are bored?
LOL, there are much worse things currently in Wild (like Naga Sea Witch) for your kind (super competitive players) than pre-nerf Yogg-Saron.
That´s not even a little true. Naga Sea Witch follows a game plan and if the plan dosen´t work or the opponent plays around it, they are screwed. Yogg pre nerf is a card that makes unwinnable games to a victory, just by pure randomness. It has no business at all in a card game. It´s just bad card design.
You can be in exactly as bad a position in terms of health and board state when you play N'Zoth, and win because you played N'Zoth. The prep for both is similar, only in one you play minions and in the other you play spells. Same with DK Gul'dan.
If you play a 10-mana card that you built your entire deck around, it should win you the game most of the time.
N´Zoth dosent win you unwinnable games, he can win you close games. It´s a far and powerful card, Yogg is just a retarted card that people played when they were otherwise screwed.
And no, a 10 mana card shouödn´t win you the game most of the time. It should be powerful, but not a card that wins you a game from nothing.
I totally want pre-nerf Yogg back! Is it just me or do you guys also think, that the nerf doesn't make any sense? I mean this overload thing about the nerf is weird because (as mentioned before) it's Yogg casting spells and not you. And the same counts for him being silenced or destroyed or whatever. How exactly can he target himself? Shouldn't all his spells be cast before he enters the battlefield, since it's a battlecry? No other minion can target itself with its battlecry.

I am so with you here. Blizzard broke the logic and mechanics of battlecries with the nerf to Yogg. If one should follow the logic they have set in place Mana Wyrm should get +1 attack for each spell if you yourself can get overload. And for those saying he has a potential to be game winning in wild in his original state, they seam to forget the amount of spells and that the pool will only grow with each expansion.

"A bunch of things" apparently doesn't include a tournament ban list.

True. Those are the type of people who disagree with Ice Block rotating to wild and emote every game.

Atleast with Yogg you had a potentially massive downside, like, it could just outright kill you.
...Unlike the 'RNG' cards we see these days..."Oh no my Spiteful just wasted that 10 mana mind control pull on Yogg-saron, only a 7/5...that is only an 11/9 for 6 mana, what BS". Rng in this game should have a fucknig downside, not just obliterate the opponent with a highroll and be good even if you don't high-roll, that is so fucknig stupid.
FYI Yogg doesn't win you the game "most of the time." Pre nerf it was run because it would simply increase your chances of winning to greater than zero in situations you were almost certainly going to lose.

Let's say you're at 1 health and have an empty board against an opponent with a couple of giants and, say, 15 health. Without a powerhouse 10-mana card, that is an unwinnable situation most of the time.
You play N'Zoth, and suddenly you have a board full of taunt minions and a very good chance of winning on your next turn. Or you play Gul'dan, and suddenly you have a board of demons, several of them with taunt, and a very good chance of winning on your next turn.
In fact, N'Zoth and Gul'dan both have a much, much, much better chance of pulling a victory from the jaws of seemingly certain defeat than Yogg does.
Why do you insist that you "have no business winning" when it's Yogg, if you started your turn from exactly the same game state?

With the all shenanigans that can happen with old Yogg-Saron it might be a two edged sword, what I mean by that is do you really want another rod of roasting since we got one already in dungeon, it was fun to see happen perfect 50+ spells and you live and/or your opponent as well.

Because, depending on the class, taunts does not matter at all. N´Zoth and Gul´dan are powerful and balanced. There are lot´s of ways to prepare for a N´Zoth or Guldan. Yogg might just kill the opponent from 30 life and 2383248 armor if he likes to. Does that sound fair?

Well, first of all, he only casts as many spells as you have cast, so he could never cut through that absurd amount of armor. Even if you had picked a reasonable amount of armor, the chance of Yogg dealing that much face damage is infinitesimal. In fact, it might be a fun contest to see who can find the video where a single Yogg deals the most face damage to one hero. I'm betting the number won't be super high.
You know what's far, far, far more likely? Having your deck's key card(s) shuffled to the bottom of the deck at the outset of the game, so that you have no chance of winning. Talk about your no-fun, "bad" RNG!

It is just not fair card,if you want a game where you need use brain and skill then just never play yogg.
It should never been printed. Just imagine how absurd this card is. There should be some strategy and logic in game... I know this is different game like other games but just imagine playing for example FIFA .. you are losing 0-10 and there is 1 minute until end.. you just cant press one button and hope that something will happen and you will win game ,,, CS - you cant win game which is definitely lost by 1 shot etc...
I know that this is strange comparison because this is different kind of game but nevertheless it is absurd and I am happy that card is nerfed and it will stay nerfed forever
I am with you. Yogg in its original state was the best card ever printed. Praise Yogg4ever.
Where shall I start...
