Almost always worse than Gruul, given that Gruul gets +2+2 by the start of your turn regardless. The only possible value I can see is by giving it Windfury. Honestly, this is pathetic.

If they changed the card to, every time this creature attacks or is attacked by another minion and kills it, it gains +2/+2 it would be a lot better, at least in arena. People couldn't trade into it and you could make it huge. actually in general it would be better because it would cost a huge monster to trade into it or good spells.
How manny expansions is going to take for them to learn that a 8 mana minion without an immediate effect is pretty much unplayable?
Because they don't want it to be that way. It's severely limiting if the game is always such a frantic pace that every big minion has to be tied to an unstoppable effect. I can appreciate wanting the game to be a little slower, where a big minion can represent a threat on its own (it's why I'm such a big fan of Giant Sand Worm).
That said, this card is still pretty horrible unless that "attack and kill" is mistranslated and it should be "attacks or kills."
This thing could easily cost 7 mana and it won't be even closer to the level of broken that Dr.Boom was, and they didn't seem to have problems with that card.Especially considering that we need new minions to fill the 7 mana slot, not that even then this thing would be auto include.
It's like they don't even try to make a lot of the cards playable or can't look back at the cards/mechanics that work and the one that don't and lean something from it.
As I said, I'm not arguing about this card. This card is awful and I don't disagree that it could have cost 1 less and been fine.
My specific point was that it is bad for the game if every large minion has an instant effect or is worthless. It fosters a much better game, and a more open design space, if large minions represent significant threats to be answered rather than the byproducts of their Battlecries.

I was thinking that too, but if you Taunt it up it could be pretty much impossible for an aggro deck to beat through it. I figure that's why they worded it like this.

The exact wording of the card is still unconfirmed but it definitely only gets increased stats when it does the attack and kills a minion itself.
