Although I am in the minority that thinks that the new Paladin Secret is actually playable, I think that this new Mage Secret is far better. It's great for card advantage/options and reusing battlecries and deathrattles etc etc.
Let's make new topics about the same card but compared to different cards...
Sorry that I think 2 new secrets are valid cards to compare. Please excuse me when I decide to compare a probable new Hunter Secret as well when it is released. But anyway, I will drop this now because it does not contribute to the thread in a positive way.
Well Paladin secret tradesincredible effectivnes for RNG (3/2 for 1 mana!!!, but you can't choose on what minion) but it sorf ot does not matter, turning your silver hand recruit into 4/3 for 1mana is still strong. Only question is - will the secret be wasted if enemy wipes the board?
Mage secret seems strong but if you play against inteligent enemy given secrets can't proc in your own turn, you need to have ONLY worthwile minions on board otherwise it could be pretty much wasted.
Yea I agree that the Mage Secret is situational and you should try and set up for it as much as is possible.
As far as the Paladin Secret, Blizzard confirmed that if there is no target left the Secret wont trigger and therefore not be wasted, sorry I don't have a link to the blue post. This is different than wasting Misdirection and Freezing Trap because they both get triggered together and it just happens to waste Misdirection.
Well in that case I don't see why people consider that card weak. 3/2 for 1 is almost unmatched effectivity in this game and it does not matter on which minion it gets, it's still buttload of stats for the cost.
Yea, I think it's good value.
Blizzard seems to be designing these Secrets in a way that leverages good value with a lot of opportunity for the opponent to play around them as opposed to secrets that just trigger when you hit opponent's face. Those you can choose when to trigger but not really play around them since you will need to hit their face sometime to win the game.
Mage Secrets deck becomes meta viable. Or more meta viable, depending on how you look at it. Plus a lot of other viable stuff too.
IMO Mage needed this. Like yeah, okay, it's OP, but Mage was sort of UP (underpowered) unless playing these very specific sorts of decks. You didn't have ability to protect Gadgetzan like Rogue (or the early drop targeted spells for targeted removal), Frostbolt was nice, but Fiery War Axe better for that early game, &c. Even Polymorph was more costly than Hex. Now yeah, it's not *quite* right to be pointing around and trying to use direct analogues, but if you play Mage, probably you felt more like "okay THIS deck doesn't work, and THIS deck doesn't work, and THIS deck doesn't work, so let's just use XYZ, not because it's "strong" but because everything else sort of really isn't that great."
Even Frost Nova into Doomsayer can be stopped by a simple Bloodmage Thalnos into Fireball, or any Silence, &c.
When your Counterspell can be soft countered by Mana Coin, your Spellbender can be messed with by Shiv followed by Eviscerate - not crying, mind, but Mage sort of had really limited options.

If you find my posts to be rude, objectionable, or whatever, well, I got tired of writing polite TL; DR (Too Long, Didn't Read) posts at crybaby whiners. So now I just make it short and nasty.
If you find that funny, well and good. If you find that sad, that's even better.
Lol the secrets seem good 2 me, but i wander hows the new priest card. Maybie gives an enemy minion deathrattle: goes with full hp on your side of the board?

hmmm 3 mana cost sounds a little odd.. lets see
Wow.... That's..... I have no words....
It makes the Pally secret look bad in comparison..
This card is so broken. That basically means that mage have 32 cards (and has no rng factor like Priest).
So in arena you drafted one Loot Hoarder? NOPE pay 3 mana get 2 more.
Yeti died? No problem, pay 3 mana and get 2 more. nerf plz
I think that Blizzard hates paladins

Makes mages only better in arena xD
This card seems really sick in arena. As stated earlier no 2 drop into duplicate then turn 4 Chillwind Yeti is a sick start.
My blog where I talk about Hearthstone and Magic.. But mostly just Hearthstone

Hopefully this will go well in constructed play, since no one plays mage right now
Discussion about new cards goes in....the Card Discussion forum. Surprising, I know. :P

Disconsider getting yetis or anything higher, guys! This is an aggro card!

Decided to spruce up the thread name too and add special icon. This is now main discussion thread for the new Mage card. :)

Remember the secret will not proc on the mage's own turn. The card can be played around....unfortunately that means not killing their minions :P
