At the end of the year of the phoenix, all of the highlander cards that are currently in the standard format will be rotating into wild, and with that, the entire play style of singleton decks will also leave standard. Without highlander cards such as Zephrys, playing singleton decks will have no merit or payoff, and those who enjoy the variation of these decks will be restricted to wild (or potentially the new format).
My question is whether or not you would like to see a card such as Zephrys the Great be added to the standard set so that the highlander playstyle will remain a viable option in standard for the next hearthstone year?
"Yes" - you enjoy playing him, the versatility he creates, the fun deck building options and the joy of his stoned face. "no" - you despise him, he's ruined your strategy or he eats your secrets, Pyroblasts your face or clears your board too often. "Maybe" - you like the idea, would like to see him limited in some way such as checking for duplicates at the start of the game or having limited options for discovery.
That is an interesting question. Although I've really enojoyed building and playing HL decks in standard, I am a bit sceptical about whether more HL cards should be printed in the future. With Zeph, DQA, Reno + some class-specific HL cards (some better than others) always available in wild, printing 2 more neutral HL cards next year could potentially break the wild format....
A different card type that also rotates out next year are the quests. Those for sure I'd like to see again in a future expansion
I'm against neutral highlander cards. You still want your class to be relevant and a few years from now (if HS is still around, that is), you don't want the same 15/20 cards in every highlander Wild deck.
Personally, I don't want Zeph to become evergreen. He has a unique mechanic and adds a lot of flavor, but staying for more than 2 years will wear out his welcome.
Regarding HL decks, they were a relevant before Zeph arrived (LoE and MSoG time) and I feel they will still relevant in the future, albeit with new HL cards.
Hard no. I don't mind Zeph being used by normal highlander decks but most of the time Zeph is used by degenerate combo decks with a lot of draws to trigger the highlander effect, which is bullshit. Since Blizzard is not going to fix that, it is better to move this card to wild.
Where's the option "no, never, not in a million years, I'd rather die in a car fire"?
Once Zephrys rotates, I'll quit Wild possibly forever. I'm sick to death of Highlander decks, and Priest in particular. It's gotten so bad that if I see a Priest, I always seriously consider of pressing the concede button right away, and oftentimes end up doing so, just because the amount of crap I've seen in Wild was indeed oftentimes more than my nerves could take. If it wasn't for some Tavern Brawls, I wouldn't have played a single game with Priest in over a year by now either. Priest isn't the class who started this, but Anduin has become the poster boy of uninteractive, grindy gameplans.
And Highlander Anything decks are pretty much the same to me, at least in Wild. When I see my opponent playing something weird, that usually contains the word "discover", I can usually guess correctly on turn 2 or 3 that it's yet another Reno deck, even if it's some homebrew Reno Paladin, Warlock, Druid, Demon Hunter or whatever. I know that my opponent is just going to play every single spell that heals, builds armor, kills minions, wipes the board etc. etc. and I'll still be at full health (even as Warlock) when I'm out of minions. I am DONE with it. I've lost so many games, on the spot, at any stage of the game, just because my opponent had that one card in hand or drew it on time. The only real counter is combo decks, which I just don't like playing. Partially, because when I try to build a deck around a few cards, like anything involving Emperor Thaurissan, it's GUARANTEED to be in the bottom 5-10 cards. Unlike virtually every single Highlander deck I face, where all the payoff cards are magically drawn within the first 10-15.
Maybe someday I can tolerate it in Standard again with different card effects. Highlander Hunter is actually kinda fun to play against, or it would be if it wasn't for this one card. But for the time being, I had enough of it. And I'll stay away from Wild not just to not see it again, but because I know it will only get worse from here. Not much is needed until Warlock (and maybe Shaman someday) can combine Highlander with Genn, not much is needed for most other classes to have enough tools for a Highlander deck. Like, would there even be a point in not including Zephrys in any deck a year or two from now (except for Odd decks)? If you can replace just about any card with something very similar, what reason could you have to not include the most flexible card in all of Hearthstone?
Zephrys is my most hated card of all time, beating Patches in MSoG. At least every Warrior had the courtesy to announce his deck with "Heh, greetings!" followed by "I will crush you!" and the good old "Who goes tharr?! - BOOM- I'M IN CHARGE NOW! du-duh, duh duduh-duduh!". With Zephrys, like in case of Highlander Rogue, the curve is sometimes so smooth and perfect I won't even notice it is a Highlander deck until turn 7, where I've seen Rogues (muliple) playing a Dragon's Hoard into an active Reno the Relicologist.
In theory, I'd agree that singleton decks are more interesting. But let's be honest: If every singleton deck uses a lot of the same cards, like Zephrys, Siamat, Reno, Zilliax etc., it's not that cool either.
I see the fascination behind the theme. 30 different cards is more fun than 15x2 (ignoring legendaries), but big fat NO to Zephrys becoming an evergreen card.

YES, Yes, yes.
I do not regret being killed by Zeph. Great add-on to standard IMO.
Not only for highlander decks, but as the late game surprise too.

I doubt we will see new highlander cards for a while, but I'm 99% sure they will reuse "Discover a perfect card" mechanic in the future.
