I've mainly been playing standard for the past months, but after I got tired of the shaman/warrior meta I decided to play some wild yesterday. I can tell you I won't be playing that again.
Until rank 10 or so everything went as expected. I met some goofy, wild decks, one more original than the other. But ever since I've passed rank 5 (which has been ridiculously easy compared to standard by the way) I've nearly only been seeing standard decks: Pirate warrior (albeit with ship's cannon) dragon priest, renomage, renolock, you name it.
Are these people really just playing to get their easy legend card back, or what?
What snowwhite said makes sense. I never played to such a high rank in wild, because i enjoy fun decks, and in early wild ranks there is plenty of them. However, i still find some tryhards with face pirate warrior and other standard decks too, even in low wild ranks.
i'm actually surprised those decks made it to higher ranks of wild. I thinked those Sludge belchers, and other wild cards would make the life of standard decks here harder
but those pirates and renodecks are so dominant, that even wild cards couldn't stop them. But i'm sure the top tier decks of wild runs at least one or another wild card, like sludge belcher, mad scientist and ship's cannon, don't they ? If they run exactly 100% standard cards, i would be surprised if they made it to rank 5+
The wild cards are just Naxx and gvg right now, in the next rotation, they will be naxx, gvg, grand tournament, Loe and Blackrock. While in standard there will be only, Wotog, Karazhan, gadgetzan and + new expansion in the next months.
so there will be 5 expansions and adventures (plus the standard ones)for wild.
and in standard there will be only 4 (after the rotation, but there will be more releases)
So, the wild will be getting less competitive for standard decks as time passes by. since there will be more and more cards here and less cards in standard, just wait and everything will get better for wild players.
Everyone is playing Pirate Warrior in there, because it's easy and Ship's Cannon is broken. RenoLock is also insane because of cards like Sludge Belcher and Deathlord. If you want to have fun in Wild you should stay between 14 and 8. :)
Until rank 10 people are just playing some fun decks, some are bad and others are good. Behind that point most people play better, but still fun decks, and then from rank 5 and up people are trying to get to legend, and in order to achieve that, you need to play some better, maybe less fun decks, which are, as only 2 sets are rotated out yet, usually Standard decks with a few wild cards in it. Maybe it's not only for the card back, but because finishing legend feels good? I don't know.
Also I like how your titles are Stalagg and Feugen ^^.
