Mal'Ganis makes Demon decks viable imo (not top tier but competitively viable). Great synergy with Voidcaller and obviously demons in general.
But for Handlock he is indeed not that great. At max he will take 7 damage and kill some minions. Worst case and not too uncommon he will eat a spell (that may not even be targetable on heros).
His heal, plus weapon, plus hero power is pretty powerful. In the right deck he is equal if not more powerful than something like Rag.The ability to play free giants and then heal up and apply pressure is pretty much the staple of handlock.
IMO the only situations where Mal'Ganis is playable is in arena or when you summon him via Voidcaller. Playing him for 9 mana is a big tempo dump and it requires you to have demons on the board to be any good. I feel like Mal'Ganis's stats fall behind way too much... He should be an 8/10 at least for that cost.
For handlock u need jaraxxus. Mal'ganis doesnt fit well in handlock, if u wanna use him he works well in a midrange demon deck in which u can use both jaraxxus and mal'ganis, and a bunch of other cool demons ;)
The handlock deck that i plays in top 5x EU legend doesn't run Mal'ganis or any demons.
Jaraxxus is just a perfect card for warlock – tapping until you draw all the necessary cards & in low health – then restore your health and your already-useless hero ability
Even if you are running a demon-heavier version of handlock, I say the same as everyone. Lord Jaraxxus Is a must have... besides... Think of the emotes :3
Jaraxxus if you plan on playing handlock in a straight version. However, Mal'Ganis does some incredible job against some decks that can't afford to deal with him immediatly. Some decklist of Handlock removes Mountain Giants in profit of some demons (Voidcaller, maybe Doomguard/Dread Infernal, Jaraxxus and Mal'Ganis).
Bringing the body of Jaraxxus trough a Voidcaller spawn and then taunting him up is probably the most annoying thing against Face Hunter.
Go for Jaraxxus first, but Mal'Ganis is quite a nice addition since he'll enable a lot of Demondeck, Zooish decks with demon and Handlock with demons.

Used to be a proud Handlock player.
Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.
Although I agree with the people above, that Lord Jaraxxus is a must and the first to craft I crafted Mal'Ganis and I am enjoying HS much more with him. So many funny games, faceless manipulator combos etc. etc. A must have!
Dr. Boom is a good support legendary to force the opponent to waste removal spells.
So the logical strategy would be 1) Jaraxxus 2) Mal 3) Dr. Balanced

i think it should be jaraxxus but ill ask anyway? got everything else from before g&g
Probably Jaraxxus, malganis do nothing in handlock just nothing...Jaraxxus set your hp to 15 you can spam inferno=shadowflame them, taunt and etc
Why do you even think about Mal'Ganis in Handlock? Pointlessly.
I bring life and pffffffffffffff!
mal'ganis is better, I think, amazing in demon deck. Jaraxxus fails if i am way behind on board presence, too often, it seems.
i use both in demonlock with giants

I use both in ranked play, it works well for the most part, unless you have someone that has a rushing deck, then it become sort of an issue.

Both... but Jaraxxus first.

Exactly!

Nothing like Mal'Ganis on turn 4 after a Voidcaller synergy!
