Only use it when you absolutely need it. Otherwise, save it. It is tempting to use it sooner than you need to in order to give yourself an early advantage. But this is inefficient because you won't be clearing cards that are as high a cost and/or not as many of them. This can also leave you without it for when you really need it later on. When the opponent has an otherwise insurmountable board control advantage, or multiple massive creature on the other side of the board, that is when you use it. If you want to use it earlier, often times it is good to try and set up a creature the turn before you use Shadowflame. Sometime you may want to have a stealth minion for this. Jungle Panther is pretty decent because it is 3 cost minion with 4 attack, and can be played before the fourth turn as a set up to shadowflame. Later on, shadowflame can be done the same turn if you play it right.
Keep in mind that Shadowflame is arguably the best clear in the game if you use it right. It's also great if you combo it with Power Overwhelming. In my Warlock deck, I might also use a card that has a high attack for the cost, such as Ancient Watcher or even a card like Flame Imp, with shadowflame. (Ancient Watcher + Shadowflame is equivalent to a 6 cost Flamestrike) You can also combo a shadowflame with one of your Giants if the opponent has a lot of medium to high stat creatures on the other side of the board.
Pro tip: If you can do so without killing it, always try to attack with the minion you are sacrificing before you kill it with shadowflame. It's more efficient this way. Same thing when you use your Power Overwhelming combos with other thingd like Void Terror. Always try to get in that attack if you can.
Typically, I also try to fit 1 Twisting Nether in there as well as a late game emergency option. It helps spread out the gaps between shadowflame better.
I just see terrible value with everything you suggested.
as long as you're winning more then you're losing, you're a solid player. another fact is tweaking decks to your current deck to progress. me personally i've been around for the four seasons and the highest I dinged was r7. with that said I play decks I enjoy, meta or not..i love handlock, but it struggles with aggro and my alt is miracle rouge because it takes a bit of skill to play and its so rewarding when you get the W and again prob not best for the current meta, but thats what I enjoy playing. You do have to sacrifice a lot of time to rank those single digits and I don't have that luxury because...diablo 3 is the other addiction ^^
i would suggest removing flame imps for harvest golems or something(kobolds are also questionable) and keep at least one pit lord. if you're playing a smart player he will know not to bump you to 10 hp. that's when you can throw a pit lord down for free giants/sun fury. you could be on to something here.

yes handlock is still very viable.
sidenote handlock vs control warrior..my absolute fav matchup. giants/jaraxxus vs the army of legs warrior has. #epic

brioz ur deck looks really solid. ill be sure to give it a spin, appreciate it yo.

I feel its necessary to just run one. Waste of a card slot imo to run 2 depending on your meta.

anyone care to share a solid deck that uses that combo?

was about to break r8 then three hunters decided to show up. scrubs will be scrubs.

faceless on a leeroy seems kinda overkill.

a power overwhelming would be a great addition. such a nasty finisher when they cant handle giants.

shadowflame would be great for mirrors^
