I'm sticking to the build similar to your 3rd build, I play less Yeti, no Gadgetzan. So far I'm having good result with it vs huntard. Sorry I can't bring my Hearthtracker stats to prove it because sometimes I play vs control hunter too (the one with Highmanes). Just feeling in general, I can often have lethal next turn if this turn I have Ice Block :P
On a side note, just crafted Al Alkir 2 days ago, the card sure brings up alot of options.
Edit: I'm at rank 4 so control hunter does exist...

So no yeti, no gadget...what do you fill those 4 slots with?

I personally never really liked Al Alkir it never really fit my play style. I got a golden version of him and d/ed him for Bloodhoof but that's just my 2cents. I find at turn 8 he's one of those minions thats extremely late game which hurts you against the overwhelming amount of rush decks

Squires, Flametongue, and going and and forth between Dark Iron Dwarf/2nd Yeti/Tazdingo etc. Could be Faceless, Rag or Big Game Hunter too. I still play 1 Yeti tho, it's needed to fight against Druid of the Claw and Keeper of the Grove, provided that you have Bolt/Rockbiter/LStorm already in hand.
I think the problem with Shaman is that it dies to early rushes, so I build my deck to counter that idea. It somehow makes you weaker to control warrior in late game, but I always try my best to save Hex for legendaries as long as possible.

Alahu Akbar aka Alakir sounds pretty weak compared to other legendaries, but you need to take into account what it can do first, because it's multi purposes, it's difficult to avoid misjudgments, when to and when not to:
* 1 Rockbiter+it=12 dmg and a taunt
* 2 Rockbiter+it=18 dmg and a taunt
* it alone=free 6 dmg removal
Whether to spend these dmg on the face or on minions is a tough choice and I often make mistakes from that. But lately almost all my games were ended in the hand of Alakir :P
You could amplify these dmg if you have Flametongues. And Flametongue already has great synergy with Squires and Yetis (because Yeti+Flametongue kill Druid of the Claw, and Squires+Flametongue kill almost all low drops of Huntard)
And vs aggro decks: I think other than Baron Geddon, no non-class high mana cards can stop a rush anyway (other solutions could be gimmicky comboes like Molten Giant+sunfury/argus/shaman_taunt_spell. But that thing is vulnerable to Black Knight, which is popular in aggro decks). If you lose too fast vs aggro then you can try more solid 3 or 4 drops to compensate for that.
If anything, just try control warrior. That thing laughs so hard at faceroll hunter.
OP here with an update....so I have had a MUCH better time with hunters this season. Currently I am rank 3 with a 72% win rate vs hunters. I actually have a worst win rate vs druid/warrior/warlock/rogue..lowest being warrior @ 50%
I have found we can quite easily out-dps them if you keep 3 or less minions up and doomhammer as soon as you can...the face damage, especially when you draw into a rockbiter, can often finish them before they get you. Also if you can beef up an unbound its pretty GG and lightning storm is worthless in 80% of hunter matchups so always mulligan it.
edit: the deck I have been running since rank 10 is this (playing only this deck/class the whole season)
As you see this deck is light on minions except for heavy hitters. It uses a combination of spells and Bloodlust + Totems as a finisher. It was a deck floating around the forums awhile back. Might still be. Either you win mid game by using your spells to keep your minions alive and pop a bloodlust or you can win late by the sheer power of Malygos. I have yet to have someone "waste" a hard removal on it when he hits (or you can usually fish hard removal out before he hits) and then next turn it's usually over. An 8-9dmg lightning storm is the most amazing board clear. 10dmg Lava Burst, 8dmg Lightning Bolts.
This deck works amazingly well against aggro decks because of all the clear and because of bloodlust you can usually do ok against control decks.
This looks really fun to play. I don't see how it could be consistent against hunters (or anything really). Seems too gimmicky.
Man, you are too greedy. If you struggle vs hunter (maybe 20% win rate), but you do well against everything else, it's still worth running. Maybe Mage is your second worst matchup, but no way stupid as the shaman vs hunter games.
As I said in my last post (see previous page) I have actually been having a pretty good time vs hunters, worse vs druids/warrior/warlock these days. Still above 50% in every matchup though

OP here. Still getting owned by hunters even though I have dropped to rank 9. 75%+ of games I lose I don't even get him below 20hp
Currently running three variants, non really better than others vs hunter:

I would use sunfury protector instead of argus. Comes out 2 turns sooner and the +1/1 is pretty much irrelevant as long as you get the taunt up.

Lol wtf.
1. good card. most shaman run it. Sadly it does nothing against hunters. especially new hunters (aka reynards version) who hardly run any minions.
2. Good against rush. Hunters usually have the tools to kill it.
3. ????
4. your chances to win against hunter are still unfairly small.
