I am asking because having played a lot of zoolock last year, hunter was always the WORST matchup for zoo. Face hunter, and hybrid wrecked it and you might have been able to sneak wins against midrange, but overall it was a hunter favored matchup.
Nowadays it feels like zoo is everywhere, mostly in response to aggro shaman, but I was wondering what you think the best deck would be? I know losing things like the Mad ScientistExplosive Trap combo as well as the Knife Juggler unleash decrease hurt, but there has got to be a good answer.
Should I just be trying the more face.mid hybrids? Or is hunter just no longer anti-zoo?
Thoughts?
PS I have been running mostly deathrattle beast (sparks list) and just started experimenting with some hybrid options since I am not a huge fan of plain ol' aggro.
I remember a match, my opponent plays in turn 7 Forbidden Ritual and got 7 tentacles. Next turn, hero power, attack to the face with my minions, and then Dreadscale! The opponent just insta-quitted before my turn finished

I like that idea, especially with the divine shield pally out there too
Yeah, when WoG released I was running my deathrattle/beast hunter and crushing almost everyone. Now at rank 5-8, every other game I play face shaman or an aggro. Dreadscale can only do so much. Hunter needs one extra control element in my opinion. It's tough, because every card you sacrifice to face aggro, most become less valuable against midrange or control decks.
Best decks versus zoo is patron warrior and freeze mage. For hunter specific techs versus zoo you want unleash, snake-trap and explosive trap, obv in conjuction with bow. hunter's mark is also nice.
Classic mid-range (2xfreezing) can beat zoo these days, since their mid-to-late game is so insanely strong and they have incredible value cards (the highest of any class atm imo). But if the zoolock draws perfectly it's mostly GG.
Can Dreadscale be used as a replacement for Huge Toad? I mean Midrange is all about board control so you can easily take out the minions that your opponents play (at least in early game) with things like a Dreadscale + Fiery Bat combo.

You can use Dreadscale. It has helped me a lot against Forbidden Ritual and any 1-life minion.

Greetings, traveler.
Let's make Hunter great.
