Team 5 killed my favourite game mode with one card (Yes, it's Juicy Psychmelon). Sad story
The above quote came from a News article on HearthPwn and I wanted to ask the community at large: In the past have you ever felt like the whole game was "killed" by a certain card that just ruined the game for you?
So here is my "Team 5 killed my favourite [sic] game mode with one card" thread.
I will start Team 5 killed my favorite game mode when it introduced Death Knights. I really enjoyed playing Lord Jaraxxus but now he is simply outclassed... this Winter Veil I will not be feasting on your soul.
If it helps, Death Knights will rotate out after long enough, and LJ is like half a Reno Jackson. The weapon is really useful, and the Hero Power is certainly strong. I don't think you really have any reason to keep from playing LJ in your Warlock decks, considering his power hasn't really been decreased much, Death Knight or not.
Back when C'Thun was new, almost everyone was playing a C'Thun deck. This made me want to play less during that time because the fucker was everywhere. I really dislike when one card in particular is seen everywhere.
Heh, I was thinking before I opened the thread that it would be Juicy Psychmelon for me. The old Naga Sea Witch was just as bad when the giants bug worked its way in, though, especially when Blizzard didn't bother to fix it for months and then just nerfed the card instead, leaving the bug intact but the mana cost high.
They haven’t killed it with one card; there are plenty of problems.
Death knights are obviously a huge issue. Baku is another one. Nzoth, Shudderwock, Hadronox and anything else that resummons a whole board of powerful stuff are issues.
Basically I’m of the opinion that it’s okay for a card to be strong in its own right (Lich King etc), but it becomes and issue when the effect is so swingy that it single handedly wins games. Sure a lot of these cards require your deck to be built in a certain way, but in a lot of cases the strategy of certain decks these days is “don’t die until I draw my broken card to win”. That’s not healthy.
That's the thing though Blizzard has just powercrept for expansions now and it sucks because cool cards like Jaraxus probaly won't see play for a while now. I do agree that PsychMelon needs a nerf (Maybe cost 6 or 7 mana instead) but ultimately power creep will hopefully stop as the higher power level cards the lower skill cap and the harder it becomes for new players to enjoy the game.
Man, that's a hard question. I won't say that any card ruined a game mode for me, since for me both game modes are fun, but I hate flappy bird with a burning passion, whether it be in the meta or not. One card, for 3 mana, should not have the text "have removal for the card or lose". I like playing slower decks that typically can't develop an early board, and when it comes out and I don't have shield slam, lightning bolt, what name you, it quickly becomes untargetable, stealthed, shielded, winfuried, if not all of them.
Hench clan thug is a not as bad but has snowball potential and instant removal pressure as well, for way too low a cost. Most classes can't reliably remove a 4 health minion on turn 3 without losing lot of tempo, and if you can't remove it that turn, you need a 5 health removal turn 4, and then you need to remove through giggles the following turn, and all the while, it can make increasingly good value trades or smorc, just for three mana. Taunts are also removed subsequently with vilespline or coldblood shenanigans.

I have never truly recovered from the rotation of my baby - Murloc Tinyfin.
That's very specifically not the topic of this thread.
@Dragonsdemesne
You must have missed it. There was no bug. "It was definitely intentional."

Gul'Dan DK almost made me quit the game.
"Taunt - taunt - charge - taunt;
hey, you still live, wanna do it again?"
Not that busted anymore though. Strong but not the strongest DK,

Whizbang killed Hearthstone.
In the same way Shin killed America's Got Talent. Absolutely killed it.
