posted a message on Why didn't rexxar got nerfed

Blizzard screwed up big time with the death knights. If they nerfed Rexxar they’d have to nerf Guldan and Jaina as well.

All these “win condition in one card” cards are ridiculous.

Win condition of spam the board and hope opponent draws bad. Sounds like aggro to me.

posted a message on Worst meta that there has ever been

We say the same thing every meta...

“The game will be so much better when x y z rotates out”

Problem is Blizzard always manages to add in new cards which break the game even more.

Until they significantly start to reduce the power level of new expansions, the game will always have a bad meta. The thing is though, they won’t because they want the preorders and too much of the community complain when expansions aren’t powerful enough.

posted a message on "Team 5 killed my favorite game mode with one card"

They haven’t killed it with one card; there are plenty of problems.

Death knights are obviously a huge issue. Baku is another one. Nzoth, Shudderwock, Hadronox and anything else that resummons a whole board of powerful stuff are issues.

Basically I’m of the opinion that it’s okay for a card to be strong in its own right (Lich King etc), but it becomes and issue when the effect is so swingy that it single handedly wins games. Sure a lot of these cards require your deck to be built in a certain way, but in a lot of cases the strategy of certain decks these days is “don’t die until I draw my broken card to win”. That’s not healthy.

posted a message on Here's what it takes for an Odd Rogue to beat an Odd Warrior

The only way to win in Rock Paper Scissors is not to play.

You won one game sure, but the time and effort you’ll put into losing the ones you don’t win... is it really worth it?

If the reward for playing ranked was worth it then sure, not conceding at the start of any game would be reasonable; but the reality is, this game has a way of burning you out. If you’re someone who can put up with almost futile situations and don’t mind literally wasting your own time though... then by all means play out every game.

I know this is a cynical view, but I don’t need to explain why after 4+ years playing this game why it makes me cynical.

posted a message on __________ is broken, please nerf - A criticism of nerf threads/requests.

A persons opinion is most definitely valid to a company like Blizzard; people don’t post salt threads because they’re happy with the state of the game. You could argue that Blizzard don’t care about their players (which does have some merit) but let’s jst assume that like us, they also want hearthstone to be a fun game for everyone.

You might not agree with certain people calling for nerfs, but you’ve got to understand that the golden age of this game is over... the more players blizzard drive away from this game due to poor balancing the worse it is for everyone.

And surely you know the real problems with this game are not the problems that can be solved with a tech card or two. The problem is that some individual cards are so oppressive that they drive entire classes out of the meta. Deeper than just that; most people’s issue with balancing in this game is that some cards just aren’t fun to play against. Caverns below, shudderwock etc.

Once again; you’re entitled to your own opinion but don’t claim other opinions are invalid just because you disagree with them. You may love the game in its current state but hundreds and thousands of players (if not millions) don’t; and that deserves to be talked about.

posted a message on __________ is broken, please nerf - A criticism of nerf threads/requests.

If you think Blizzard don’t read these forums, I’m sure you’re wrong; triple A developers have people who are paid as “community engagement managers” who’s sole purpose is to interact with the fans and influencers for feedback and marketing etc.

Also the frequency of “salt” threads, or “nerf” threads on this site may be annoying to you, but it’s an indication that Blizzard have fundamentally got something wrong when it comes to balancing.

The solution as you suggest is not “if rock doesn’t work okay scissors”; it’s balance the game so you can reasonably expect to have fun playing a range of different strategies. Currently there are cards that are objectively so powerful they completely lock out certain classes; and because of this, when a percentage of your player base has to make decisions like “do I auto concede or waste my time playing this game I can’t win”, that’s when they’re going to start calling for nerfs.

posted a message on Solution to roping players

Honestly probably the issue is here...

    1. Druid is way too good now, and he would have been able to tell you were playing a combo Druid which a large percentage of players hate. You were getting paid back for the game of solitare the guy knew he would have to play against you.

    2. You’re assuming you getting the win means anything to the guy roping you; which it obviously didn’t, People don’t rope if they think they can win.

    3. You’re putting more value on the win that the time you wasted in this game. Believe me; quickest way to become jaded and salty about this game is to spend too much time on things that waste your time. Sometimes it’s just better for your sanity to auto concede and get into another game that’s actually fun.

posted a message on Worst Expansion ever

    I agree.

The overall theme I think is a problem too. I mean hearthstone has always been cheesy, but come on.

Previous comments on this thread are bang on though; Blizzard made a huge mistake with cards like death knights especially. Until they rotate, they’ll dominate the meta.

Don't play hunter it's that easy. Find a deck that you enjoy playing of any of the other 8 classes and you will succeed.

I hate responses like this. Blizzard should be able to balance the game fairly but time and time again thee proven incapable / unwilling.

The solution to a balancing problem should not be “just don’t play that class for the next 3 months”.

Because it's not possible, I don't know any game where all the classes/factions/characters are in meta. Hell, even in chess people say that winning with white is easier than black.

The difference with chess though is apart from the first turn advantage the game is as closed to balanced as it can be.

Blizzard don’t even try to balance this game. Their business strategy is to keep vomiting content so players can never build a full collection and when their favourite class gets pushed out of the meta theyre forced to keep spending money or give up. Why do you think it takes them months to nerf clearly obviously broken cards?

They also want to make cards seem like a physical card game by not altering them, but then they forget 80% of the card pool doesn’t get played anyway. I honestly also think they purposely make bad legendary cards so people will pack them and not the broken ones, requiring them to spend more money.

0 faith in this development team anymore. It’s so obviously about making money instead of making a great game.

posted a message on Change to one emote per turn.

Simple solution is blizzard just needs to add auto squelch. We’ve been asking for years... but they never listen; which is essentially the same for every single issue the community identifies.

posted a message on Great Standard Meta

When a large portion of decks in a meta revolve around either cheating stuff out or OTK combos, the only other thing that an survive is aggro.

You can talk all you like about deck diversity but if none of those decks are fun to play against that’s hardly healthy. It’s not the worst we’ve had but it’s still proof blizzard have no idea what players actually want in their game.

I would argue they just need to address the issues with the existing game rather than trying to “fix” classes by giving them busted cards.
