Hello my name is Gnomen, a warrior main player, that got legend multiple times with different lists.
Since I have always loved C'Thun and especially C'Thun Warrior, I thought about trying to make it work in the new expansion, and I actually think it can work pretty well. And since i have reached legend several times with C'Thun warrior, then i think that i have the potientiel to make it a great deck once again. This will be my first list, that I will try out, when the expansion hits the EU-servers. The more upvotes, a more detailed guide will be made. Thank you very much for visiting the deck and sorry for the bad english :)
But as a short start, the deck is obviously a control deck, that revolve around C'Thun as the primary win condition. But there's also a lot of tech cards in the deck, that should favor it vs a lot of matchups.
Skulking Geist is in the primary counter to Jade druid, which C'Thun decks struggle vs. EDIT* I took Skulking Geist out because i haven't meet any jade druids and i think that jade druid stil will be an auto lose
Dead Man's Hand is to give you ekstra buffs, and another C'Thun vs heavy control. Can also give you more Aggro stopper cards vs aggro.
The Black Knight Is to counter The Lich King which will be a lot on the ladder, the first few days.
Since i got some more upvotes i now update the guide a bit. I will start update you about why the cards made it into the deck and i will simple start of with the warrior cards.
Shield Slam is a really efficient early game removal tool, but in C'Thun warrior it fits very well with Ancient Shieldbearer so you also can clean big stuff. The only problem with shield slam is that it gets destroyed bySkulking Geist, so against all control decks, except jade druid, use it before Skulking Geist.
Execute is just one of the best warrior cards and make it in to all warrior decks except pirate warrior. You can use it to destroy small stuff against aggro, but also against the big minions in control matchups.
Fiery War Axe is just a card that have always been a very good card. In C'thun warrior you mainly use it as your aggro stopper.
Forge of Souls made it into the deck, because i think it will be such a good warrior card. A card that i think that they needed, now they can draw those Fiery War Axe and Blood Razor. So a really good card that you will always mulligan for.
Sleep with the Fishes is a really important board clear in C'Thun warrior, that really can destroy the aggro decks early in the game and also can take your opponents into a trap. A really powerfull card that of course made it into the deck.
Ravaging Ghoul is one of the best hearthstone cards in my opinion and fit so good withSleep with the Fishes
Blood Razor is an amazing card. Such a good aggro stopper and fit excellent with Sleep with the Fishes
Brawl amazing board clear
Ancient Shieldbearer can't play a C'Thun without it.
I made some changes. The second Dead Man's Hand is in, an auto winner against heavy control and out with Stonehill Defender. It never got the full value. I also took Skulking Geist (Look why in the top) and in with the DK Scourgelord Garrosh. I really want to try him in the deck and i actually think that it can work, because the weapon frostmourne, and the hero power is also okay.
All the comments is so nice, keep up the good work guys. :)
I will of course update you guys on how the deck performs, when the expansion hits. Good laddering!
I cant wait to try the deck! how is it working out for you on the ladder?
Have you considered adding a The Lich King to give you a taunt and value in the late game?
Update; Im having a lot of card draw issues, and getting owned vs decks that get a lot of minions out on board like shamans...thinking of replacing Shield Slam for Armorsmith or Shield Block
Just for Divine Shield off of C'Thun's Chosen? Seems weak to me personally.
Black Knight replacement?
I absolutely love this idea of bringing back cthun! I am thinking of adding a bit more card draw and the second dead man's hand. To me it feels like in the control vs control match up when you play this combo your opponent will generally auto concede because no matter what they do unless they had you dead to rights in the next 2-3 turns they will never take your value down. Now for the second dead man's hand and maybe adding in a battle rage it will wait in my opinion until jade druid is destroyed due to skulking geist in like 2-3 weeks and once lichking is played less often
I really like the deck, it is close to what I imagined; however, why not add two 'Bring it On!'? Whenever I played Control Warrior I always got rushed down and needed the burst heal. I understand that we have 'Ancient Shieldbearer', but I think having 'Bring it On!' would help to consistently stay alive against aggro. If we were to add this I think that another 'Sleep with the Fishes' should be added to make the deck more board clearing centric. Maybe to insert these cards into the deck we can remove 'Grimestreet Informant', 'Blood Razer', and 'Stonehill Defender'. I don't think that 'Grimestreet Informant' will add that much more value as it is not that consistent. 'Blood Razer' is a debatable card, but I think that the only weapon you need is 'Fiery War Axe'. 'Stonehill Defender' is also debatable, since there are two C'thun related taunt minions, but I think that it would be better cut.
