Intro

Like most of you who have been playing this game for some years, each expansion I hope for a meta that allows for more control and combo archetypes to become viable. Each expansion this dream is destroyed by a handful of hyper-aggressive, auto-play aggro or midrange decks. This time round we have all the usual culprits plus a new, especially obnoxious face deck: Pirate Warrior.

Control decks are not likely to be viable for the remainder of this set's duration but I know you want to play that juicy sprinkling of control cards that we get each expansion so why not tune an entire deck to destroy those mindless Pirate Warriors and get some dust's worth out of those cards you paid for that cost more than 4 mana?

So here it is: Anti-pirate Warrior Control N'zoth Paladin.

How to Play

Queue into ladder, there's about a 50% chance you'll be facing a Pirate Warrior. If you're facing a Priest, you've probably lost because Blizzard printed Entomb. If you're facing a Hunter you're about 50/50 because no amount of healing and board clears is enough to reliably counter the Hunter hero power, if you're facing Pirate Warrior, rejoice, for you are about to torture the living faeces out of the guy.

Mulligan for Mistress of Pain, Ooze and Aldors. If you draw 2x Mistress of Pain in your opening hand, win the game.

Infested Taurens are usually quite weak but in the case of Pirate Warrior they eat a lot of damage and the 2/2 left over clears up a lot of their minions. Similarly the Harvest Golems tend to make it fairly easy to mop up their 1-3 mana filth.

Wickerflame is a very strong control card vs aggro even when not buffed.

Please be aware that when playing taunt minions your opponent may struggle to understand why he/she/it cannot target face so use this time to get a refill of your beverage.

If you're not dead by turn 6 then you've won the game, congratulations. If by some miracle you face only Pirate Warrios you may be able to farm from this point, otherwise simply allow the tides of darkness to consume you are you realise that every single meta in the game counters control and play either give up for another expansion or join the dark side and play some brainless aggro deck.
