Greetings, travellers, I'm Subrezon, a german legend player. I love creativity in deckbuilding, and I always try something new, and try to make it work. Before the release of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan I will try to fry up a deck for each class that I think has potential AND might be competitive. We start Day 2 with a more straightforward deck - Midrange Hunter, powered by the buffing power of the Grimy Goons gang.
What is this deck?
Curve out, buff your hand while doing so, then swing the board with a huge Rat Pack or Dispatch Kodo. Really straightforward playstyle, but somewhat tricky to form a curve that will allow you to execute it. Play minions, trade, get ahead, go face, close out the game with Steady Shot and burst cards like Kill Command or Quick Shot.
Why this deck?
In the new expansion, Blizzard has introduced a rather big switch in card design for Hunter - the three keywords of Hunter in this set are: tokens, buffs and value. While present in the form of Infested Wolf, Houndmaster and Savannah Highmane already, it is rather interesting to see these intertwine in a curve-based deck.
Is it going to be "a deck" upon release?
Hunter will always be there to punish any greedy deck. As long as there are Control Warriors and Freeze Mages, Hunters will never be out of the Ranked picture, especially with this list, that seems strictly superior to everything Hunter has right now.
So, I hope you enjoyed this one, so stay tuned for more! Don't forget to drop a +1 and to check out all of Subrezon's Theorycraft Series!
Well, I don't have either of the two legendaries so I have a list that has a single Forlorn Stalker with some Fiery Bats added on. After 10 games, each time I play the Stalker it hit at least two deathrattle minions in hand.
I think the lack of 1 drops would be bad for a midrange hunter deck.
Forlorn Stalker should be in this deck.
Yeah, if you don't have the legendaries at first (which I probably won't), Taking out the Carrion Grub and adding Forlorn Stalker is pretty good upside.
Also, never forget about adding Harrison Jones for that mid game to swing tempo back and to refill your hand. If I were building this (and I might give it a shot) a slightly cheaper version would remove and add the following:
- 1 Don Han Cho (your hand will most likely be empty and not have a target)
- 1 carrion grub
- 1 animal companion (why would you want a spell that creates a minion when the deck is meant to target minions in your hand)
+ 1 Forlorn Stalker
+ 2 Fiery Bat
I would might even get greedy and try to add Barnes somewhere.
I made a couple of changes personally. I will post my list sometime later.
