Introduction
Hello everyone! I'm Darkshadow. You may remember me from my Aggro Egg Druid. I'm going to present you the deck i used to finish top 100 on EU.
I build this deck together with SensoR, who came up with a interesting approach to zoo. We improved the deck from early in the season until the last day.
Ideas behind the deck
- Soulfire is better than Power Overwhelming in the current fast meta
- avoiding the heropower on early turns if possible
- strong opening and strong topdecks
- no situational cards
Card Choices
Soulfire: dealing 4 damage without sacrificing anything on the board is really good in a fast meta as it allows you to keep or establish board control while dealing with your opponents threat.
Wrathguard is just a 4-3 for 2 mana it snowballs really hard if left unanswered and enables good trades. Health doesnt matter as long as you are ahead so this deck negates the downside of the card.
Lance Carrier acts like 2 extra copies of Abusive Sergeant which is one of the best cards in fast/aggro decks. A problem with abusive is that its quite weak on turn 2 if you want to trade with it also it dies to whirlwind effects. Lance carrier doesnt have those problems also lance carrier gives a permanent buff so it enables good damage over turns and has great synergy with sticky minions. Overall its a great card to beat midrange and control decks but it can fall short vs aggro decks.
Young Priestess takes the spot of Possessed Villager due to the lack of Power Overwhelming in this deck it enables great openings and usally wins the game vs fast decks if it sticks more than 1 turn. 2 attack is nice because it creates nice pressure and good trades.
Argent Horserider enables nice trades and is good at any point of the game it has good synergy with Dire Wolf Alpha, Lance Carrier, Abusive Sergeant.
Argent Commander is the most clunky card in this deck. It acts like a third copy of Doomguard. It's in the deck to keep up with the value of midrange/control decks (mainly warrior). It can be replaced with Dark Iron Dwarf if you mostly play vs fast decks.
Mulligan:
Cards you keep everytime:
- Every 1-Drop except Abusive Sergeant vs control if you have another 1-Drop or start with the coin
Cards you keep vs Aggro:
- With Coin: Look for double 1-Drop, if you have double 1 you can keep a 2 drop
- Without Coin: hardmulligan for your 1-Drops, if you have a 1 Drop you can keep additional 1-Drops and 2-Drops except Lance Carrier
When to keep Imp Gang Boss:
- against warrior on coin with a 1-Drop
When to keep Lance Carrier:
- with squire without coin
Why no Leeroy Jenkins?
This deck deals steady damage throughout the game. You try to avoid the usage of your heropower on early turns which works well with the discard cards. On later turns you want immediately play every card that you topdeck. If a card is situational and gets stuck in your hand you will not only lose tempo but also discard it. Also this deck doesn't use Power Overwhelming so you can't burst that much with Leeroy Jenkins.

Offtopic:
This is the warlock deck Xixo used it in his line-up at SL i-League StarSeries S2 Finals. He ended up winning the tournament.
Shoutouts to Картошечка for making a guide about the deck in russian you can find it here.
erm..sorry but no..
If you dont have Imp Gang Boss, just replace it with Harvest Golem
Why no Darkshire Councilman? Or tentacles?
For sure works on low ranks. Two hours. From rank 17 to 10. 14 - 3
C'Thuun Warriors and Freeze Mages are problem.
I recommend this deck :)
Seriously, what matchup for this deck is better than it is for zoolock? Why would you play this deck over zoo?
Because it's fun to do something a bit different?
I was asking an honest question if there is a matchup that is better for this variant than classic zoo to justify playing it on ladder but thank you for being a jackass.
Against control paladin it works much better. Because they have infinite boardclears, and you have chargers and divine shields.
6 games. 6 warriors. 0-6. Nuff said.
Perhaps it's bad RNG on my part, but first two games at Rank 10 were against ramp druid, and yogg hunter. By turn 8 a steady wall of taunts stopped me dead in my tracks, and back to back explosive shots and traps cleared my board. Top decking lance carrier on an empty board doesn't help. I can see the fast aggressive style of this deck outpacing warriors and midrange decks, but it's still susceptible to control or classes with more than two board clears. I'll continue trying while I complete three daily quests.
Thanks for the SMOrc warlock FeelsGoodMan sometimes just to hit that face for some rage memories XD !
Hi there,
normally I hate netdecking and just look there whats the new hype and what I will face in ladder.
But seriously tried to get my golden Warlock asap and this deck is just nuts Oo Went straight from Rank11 to Rank4... I mean WTF?!?!
Crushed everything on my way -> hardest matchups Tempomage and Zoo
The most frustrating deck to play against. Next level of cancer. Just like charge dragon warriors. You are keeping their board clean, but they still charge face.
I lose to zoo when they play Darkshire Councilman. Am I supposed to trade/remove it or keep going face?
Remove them ASAP in my opinion. If left unchecked it will spiral out of control. Unless you stand a chance of winning in the next round or so that is.
NICE DECK MAN!
ladder is boiling with control warriors
if you get Shield Slam to the Wrathguard upvote this message :)
Changed it a bit and played it last night. Genuinely impressed. Beat two Cthun Warriors by grinding them down.
Made the following changes:
-2 Young Priestess +2 Worgen Infiltraitor - seemed to work well
-1 Brann + 1 Argent Commander - Brann is a nombo with too many cards.
-2 Wrathguard +2 Power overwhelming - wrathguard is a liability against certain decks. PO may be the wrong card for this deck synergy wise but it is so strong it might make the cut anyway - still testing.
Overall - I think this decklist is a game changer vs Warrior which is a bad matchup vs traditional Zoolock. Will keep testing.
Is it a good idea to have 1 Dark Iron Dwarf instead of second Lance Carrier?
It's 4drop instead of 2drop 1/2, so yeah, it will be more on mid game
but in this case, we will have 1 more 4/4 minions, which provide some atk dmg on board.
Also, I think Ooze is somewhat necessary in recent meta
How do you start vs Mage?
hit their face
