Legend Proof:
Hi guys! Made it to top 50 legend this week with this secret paladin list! There's not a whole lot to write up about it since everyone already knows the flow of secret paladin but I'll give you guys a little something anyways. :p
Mulligan Guide: Usually you just want to look for your early game against everyone like Secretkeeper, Shielded Minibot, Knife Juggler, Haunted Creeper, and Muster for Battle. Also you normally don't want to keep secrets unless you have Secretkeeper and the only acceptable secrets to keep with her are Avenge, Redemption and Noble Sacrifice. Some exceptions are Noble Sacrifice with Knife Juggler and Avenge with Muster for Battle if you're on the coin. Other than that, send 'em away! It's also okay to keep Secretkeeper in your hand even if you have no secrets.
Card Choices: Some people might think it's weird that there's no Blessing of Kings in the list and even though that card can go ham sometimes, it can also make you 2 for 1 yourself. I personally found that the 2 Keeper of Uldaman was a much better choice. She gives you 6 damage between 2 bodies and actually develops your board whereas buffs do not and she's amazing when you need to make value trades or for dealing with big threats. Definitely more versatile than Blessing of Kings.
Match ups:
Preist: Awful
Druid: Good
Tempo Mage: Good unless they get flamewaker poppin' off but you can still come back from it if you get to kill the flamewaker.
Freeze Mage: Concede immediately. Lo Jk. At least try. :p
Patron Warrior: Awful
Control Warrior: Eehh hard to say.. I feel like this one is maybe 60/40 their favor? Maybe 50/50. Depends on how fast you get going.
Zoo: 60/40 their favor. Just try to make value trades here and watch out for sea giant.
Renolock: This is kind of a bad match up I think. Just gotta try and hit the ground running here as well and hope they don't have Reno right before you have lethal. Sometimes you can kill through Reno though if your board is insane.
Secret Paladin: 50/50
Aggro Shaman: 60/40 their favor. Again just try to make those value trades and avoid taking as much face damage as possible.
Murloc Paladin: Try not to overextend because around turn 6, your board might get equalitied/consecrated into oblivion.
Rogue: ???
Hunter: Not sure. I didn't run into a lot.
For decks that run Acolyte of Pain, I always try to make sure they only get 1 draw out of it unless I can make them burn cards. Also if anyone needs free coaching, feel free to add me! I'm not the best but I'd love to help. :D
I thought of replacing Divine Favor with Lay on Hands because most of the time it doesn't get better than drawing 1 - 2 cards and getting additional heal is somewhat valuable in my eyes.
Edit: I just played my very first game and it was against freeze mage with a golden hero portrait. I raped the shit out of him because of me having Lay on Hands healing me back after Alexstrasza.
Sidenote: he had that legend cardback while the very best I did in ranked was rank 10 due to lack of skill - LOL
Edit 2: except for that one time I literally got raped all the time. May be bad RNG or bad playstyle but I went back to Divine Favor FeelsBadMan
Hey keep us updated on how the replacement is going for you.
This sounds like an excellent replacement, but I'm a little concerned about the 8-mana cost, which pretty much means you can't play anything else that turn (unless you're already at 10 mana).
Since Secret Paladin very often is about tempo, I'm thinking Lay on Hands is too slow. Whereas after playing Divine Favor you still can put down a drop.
Is a second Truesilver Champion a good replacement for the Coghammer ?
Yes it is
I'm doing really well with this deck, I already went from 20 to 15 this Season :)
Also what's considered the best replacement for Tirion these days?..
Rag is the best replacement I can think of. There's always aggro secrets though and that version doesn't run tirion or dr boom so its a lot cheaper.
what about arch thief?
I've never tried him so I really don't know, but honestly if you don't have rag or tirion, I'd just throw an owl, sir finley, or a repentance in there. Whichever one works best for you.
I have rag I just am curious about arch thief where big minions are needed cuz he seems valuable to me and yet no one wants to run him in the exact type of deck spots he'd go in ;-;
If you'd be willing or interested in helping me figure out getting higher and understanding some stuff bnet is ThePolarpop#1107 :o
Glad to hear it dude! Haha I'd rather be wrong about the match ups being bad than to be wrong about them being good. >.> lol
You could try second belcher
I am stucked between rank 5-2, EU servers.
Maybe in America is different story, or i am not playing good :(
You could try changing up a few things to better suit your meta. not sure what it's llooking like over there. I've never played on EU server before. ><
I don't have Uldaman (I will buy LoE soon) it is okay to add blessings instead?
Yeah blessing is the next best thing :D
Reach legend(NA) first time with this deck(from 5 to legend).
Best secret paladin deck so far, IMO
Thanks so much for your feedback! :D
Jesus. I don't remember it being that bad with the few hunters I ran into o.0
