"Leeroy Jenkins created a strategy that revolved around trying to defeat your opponent in one turn without requiring any cards on the board. Fighting for board control and battles between minions make an overall game of Hearthstone more fun and compelling, but taking 20+ damage in one turn is not particularly fun or interactive."
It's only not fun, if you aren't the one playing it.
Just finished my test of this Reno-Combolock and want to share it with you guys.
EDIT: Now peaked Rank 16.
I tracked 51 games with the final version of this deck, went 38:13 and peaked at Rank 50 Legend. (jeah that's my ingame name, don't ask about it)
Mulligan
Generel rule is against aggro you want board, against control you want options.
against Aggro: Zombie Chow, Dark Peddler, Mortal Coil,Imp Gang BossDemonwrath
I usually also keep Reno Jackson against fast decks and Acidic Swamp Ooze against weapon classes.
against Control: Twilight Drake, Dark Peddler, Zombie Chow,Imp Gang Boss
You can safely tap the first two turns against these matchups to get a nice starting hand or a big drake.
If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments, I'll try to answer everything.
Replacement Jaraxxus ?
Haha, that was close :p
29 cards?
Back to school.
Somehow I removed one card while editing. Fixed it now.
That happens to me all the time, lol.
As an update, Im playing this deck on the NA server on and off. With op's exact decklist i climbed to peak rank 3 but hovered around 55% win around rank 5-6 with a low at around rank 7-8. 55% win rate 24-20. However, when i changed the ooze for a sunfury and swapped the taunt-less and highly silence-able drake for an anti-aggro molten giant my win rate spiked to 67% with 20 wins 10 losses. These stats do not include the games i played with other renolock decks like feugen stalagg and malganis hand-lock type decks etc so this is why it seems odd i would still be around rank 5 if i had 67% win rate. I kinda just go back this my altered version of gravehound's deck after i lose experimenting other renolock decks.
Your T4 looks so weak without a Piloted Shredder or Voidcaller in the deck, has cutting the Voidcaller/Mal'Ganis slot from the original deck for Sylvanas Windrunner + utility card made the deck more or less consistent vs aggro? I can understand wanting to get rid of the weakness to Ironbeak Owl and the clunkiness of Mal'Ganis without Voidcaller in the control matchups, but those two cards have been clutch for me vs aggro and I've gotten by without Sylvanas Windrunner.
Is my turn 4 really so much weaker? Turn 4 Twilight is still an awesome play and Refreshment Vendor still trades 2:1 against aggro decks and also heals. Voidcaller on the other hand is a card I would love to fit in but even with Mal'Ganis it feels like not enough demons.
For Sylvanas, i just like the possibility of Shadowflame combo.
Thanks for replying, I think it's weaker in the sense that you're short on 4 drops and could miss a drop when aggro puts you on the back foot, I was playing a few games with this list on ladder and I was struggling more than usual vs Secret Paladin because I couldn't naturally draw into my curve consistently.
I really want to play Sylvanas for the Shadowflame and Poweroverwhelming combos, but every time I do play her in my deck I've found it redundant to Twisting Nether. I'm not saying that's bad by any means because she's a bitch in control mirrors, but I think the deck doesn't need that consistency as much as it needs ways to stay alive without Reno vs aggro consistency (does that make sense?)
The OP's deck does not work in NA server during the climb because of how much aggro there is pre-legend. Might be the same for EU as well according to reddit but pre-legend is too high aggro to make a deck like OP's work. You would definitely need turn 4 minions that actually have impact on board right away like a senjin vs zoo aggro or a kezan vs secret paladins. A drake on paper sounds nice but it only works vs control where control decks slowly grind over board control. Aggro just says "nice drake you got there bro" as they walk around it and hit face.
P.S. Renolock already suffers immensely vs druids. Having your turn 1-4 invested in making a big drake as your board comeback is asking to lose. Easy keeper of the grove.
Seems like a wrong mulligan. Do you keep Reno against Shaman?
On the other hand this matchups are so dependend on getting your early cards, don't feel bad when you lose just because you don't get it.
So many people playing this thing on Asia, lol
I'm not so sure about Jaraxxas in Renolock. I played about 10-12 games with the asian list and Jaraxxas only won me one game vs a control priest. However, I didn't dare use him against the other 11 decks I faced because it was just too low of a life total vs. the decks I was playing. That 15 life seems kinda counter to the deck design to me. I'm wondering if a Baron Geddon might be more useful on average.
Jaraxxus singlehandly wins you the control matchups you otherwise can lose because there isn't as much value in the deck as in the standard reno list. Sometimes he even saves you because of the heal effect. True you don't need it every matchup but that 1 out of five
games you win because of him. You just play him when you know your opponent can't burst you down from 15 health.
Most of the time he gets reduced by emperor and you can Summon an inferno on the same turn and that is a huge swing.
I'm finally rank 5 but only after i removed drake and put in molten giant + replaced ooze with sunfury protector because let's face it- even if u ooze a doomhammer, he alr did at least 4-10 dmg to your face and that 2 mana minion will not slow him down at all. This is assuming IF you even draw it at the right time, vs weapon classes to kill their weapons.Weapons tend to not even have that many charges, deathbite-theyll use it once already, fiery war axe same, rogue's dagger-dont think she cares, truesilver-already traded for one minion. The list goes on. Ooze feels amazing when it lands but it is often a win more, the times when it really saves your life are super rare.
Would probably run MCT or Implosion instead of Demonwrath.
You played 51 games and faced more Priests than Palas? I feel like we're living in different universes.
Was right after the last wing released so that's not so strange. With curator coming out and entomb still fresh.
Im rank 8 now! Took me a while to learn your decklist but im very confident of your decklist now :D. Even my losses i could tell if i played a different way it was totally winnable- being able to say that about a deck means a lot!
