TEMPO ROGUE - ROGUE IS SO STICKY
Rogue just became so sticky and it’s all because of how strong Unearthed Raptor is. I decided to build a deck around Unearthed Raptor with all the value deathrattles and came up with a deck that currently has a 72% win-rate.
I can say this deck is Anti – Secret Paladin or aggro in general due to all the tempo and AOE removals from Dark Iron Skulker and Fan of Knives, for instance.
**CONGRATS TO CHIRAJI, JAGGGERMK AND DANNY356 FOR REACHING LEGEND WITH THIS DECK ;)**
How to play this deck?
If you are good at arena, I am pretty sure you are just as good piloting this deck. This deck is all about tempo, meaning you would want to play a card each turn and consistently be ahead on board compared to your opponent. You can easily do this with all the sticky creatures and the strong removals in this deck. Board control is everything with this deck.

CARD CHOICES
Backstab, Eviscerate, Fan of Knives, and SI:7 Agent – These cards are staples for removal and board control, a must have for almost any rogue deck.
Abusive Sergeant – this card can allow you to do efficient trades while also put certain creatures in BGH range as well. Can also activate Nerubian egg.
Bloodmage Thalnos - It has the same purpose as loot hoarder, but also has spell damage for a better fan. Substitution: Loot Hoarder
Loot Hoarder - Just for cycle and an early drop for aggression. Substitution: Zombie Chow, if you worry about obtaining the early board.
Fan Of Knives: AOE board clear and also cycling at the sametime. Some people find running two copies can be clunky, however you can swap this out for a Loot Hoarder or a zombie chow if you like, since they can handle the early aggression, which in a sense, handles early aggression like FoK
Haunted Creeper – Another early minion that can be played early for board control and trade even more efficient with the two 1/1 it spawns. Synergizes with Earthen Raptor.
Nerubian Egg – This is a very strong tempo card since you can use the egg itself to trade into anything when buffed by cards like Abusive Sergeant or Defender of Argus and leaving you with a 4/4 afterwards, achieving board control.
Big Game Hunter – Whenever I play rogue, I felt Dr. Boom was really hard to deal with and saps were just not enough. For this reason, I rather play Big Game Hunter than Sap. Substitution: Sap is interchangeable with Big Game Hunter
Unearthed Raptor – this card is what made this arch-type possible since it creates so much tempo by being a strong 3-drop, while also gaining the powerful deathrattles in this deck.
Defender of Argus – Another activator for Nerubian Egg and can also be used for efficient trades and your source of taunt. A good card overall in this deck.
Piloted Shredder – Another strong 4 drop deathrattle to synergize with Unearthed Raptor.
Dark Iron Skulker – Pretty much a strong board clear and allows you to fight back the board quite effectively when you are behind against aggro decks. Substitution: Azure Drakes
Sludge Belcher – A strong 5 – drop to fend off aggression and also to protect your creatures so you can maintain a strong board. Can also be synergized with Unearthed Raptor.
Sylvanas Windrunner – This card makes your opponent do inefficient trades and makes it awkward for them. You can make it even more awkward with the Unearthed Raptor. Substitution: Piloted Sky Golem, Carine, Brann Bronzebeard, Baron Rivendare, or Jeweled Scarab.
Dr. Boom – A strong tempo card. It is a 7/7 with boom bots that swings the board to your favor most of the time. Substitution: Piloted Sky Golem or Carine.
MULLIGAN (will update with a more detailed one soon)
Aggro – Backstab, zombie chow, haunted creeper, SI:7 agent, abusive sergeant and unearthed raptor
Paladin – I like to keep fan of knives
Control – Eviscerate, unearthed raptor, nerubian egg, piloted shredder, zombie chow, backstab, SI: 7 agent
Handlock – I like to keep Big Game Hunter
Is there any room for Sir Finley Mrrgglton ? Getting a hero power to adopt to the game might be really helpful
I would cut the sap. I think it's a toss up between sap/BGH in raptor rogue. I fancy BGH over sap since both are actually situational, and BGH generally gives higher reward in the tempo swing. Without the BGH you will have to use alot of mana on clearing dr.boom etc. Mrgglton can enable some combos, like turn 4 Finley+SI7. I am not sure what heropowers you want off him. Most of the turns you have something to play (the curve is excellent), and quite often you will find yourself coming back from games where you have < 10 hp, and your opponent have > 20 hp. The Rogue heropower really helps in paladin match-ups, but it's really not good against hunters (which I think is the worst match-up, or in general you might struggle with hard aggro decks since they pour out damage faster than your tempo). So it might alter some match-ups. I would try out 10-20 games with Finley and 10-20 without him. See how it fits your current rank. I would definitely switch out the sap if anything for it.
What are your thoughts on the card Beneath the Grounds. I'm doing really well with your deck on latter but half my losses are to a last minute Reno. If I wanted to add this card what do you think I should remove from your list?
Hey c0des, if you are having problems with reno, then I suggest teching in a tinker sharpsword oil instead. Beneath the Grounds is fairly slow and if you spend a turn using it, you are passing a turn to technically play nothing, which is counter-intuitive in a tempo deck since you want to play a card each turn that puts you ahead of the game.
I would sub out one Defender of Argus for Tinker's Sharpsword oil, one fan of knives for blade flurry and also one dark iron skulker for azure drake. The way to counter reno deck is to burst them down in one turn before they can play the card, and Tinker sharpsword oil pretty much does that job for you. Also, Tinker Sharpsword oil has synergy in this deck since it can activate the nerubian eggs.
awesome thank you for the help
It really does not change your win rate that much, that is switching between Thalnos and 2nd Loot Hoarder. I would guess a gain of around 1-2 % win rate from the Thalnos. That will help when climbing 5->legend.
The card is too slow in this deck, since I want to play a card every turn, and if I am going to play a card every turn, I want to play a better 3 drop that puts me ahead on board. Brann Bronzebeard needs to be set-up in order to gain value and the body itself doesn't trade into a turn 4 shredder.
If I ran a slower build, let's say with more spells for control, which would be more of a control deck than tempo, then I would play Brann Bronzebeard as it can slow down the game enough for Brann Bronzebeard to be used effectively.
Haha thanks and I am glad you are enjoying the deck. I also feel this deck is pretty good against the meta atm, and currently climbing with it as well. I also find the paladin match-up fairly tight, especially the secret paladins, but luckly they can't really burst me down hue.
Maybe I've been having bad luck but I can't seem to win with this deck lately. It just fizzles out mid game pretty much every game I play.
this is a mid-range deck, so it does run out of steam eventually. In order to play this deck properly, you need to know when to trade, push for damage and also knowing how to play around AOE. This is a tempo deck and once you lose that tempo, then it is pretty hard for you to comeback from something let's say a flamestrike.
Hey been playing this deck recently and it has really made me enjoy my rogue quests. Many concessions or wins from turn 2 nerubian into raptor and turn 6 Sylvana's into raptor + defender of argus. Thank you so much! I've been running -1 belcher -1 thalnos and +1 loot horder and +1 brann.
This deck is fantastic I went from 15 to legend in 3 days playing casually.
You really need Lothaeb in this deck. It's the only card in this deck to give you a fighting chance against Freeze Mage.
For anyone questioning my knowledge on this deck. I'm 30-12 with this deck losing mostly against Freeze Mage and Control Warrior.
I did answer questions regarding loatheb, and I agreed and would switch out one of the 5 drops with that card.
You don't need the second Sludge Belcher. I think this deck needs to be more face than midrange to win.
Replaced the Nerbub Eggs with Beneath the Earth
And Replaced the Azure Drake with Anubisath Sentinel (which is nice for the Raptors)
I believe that handlock is a pretty fair match-up now o:
I played against one (golden) handlock, and he wasn't able to do anything until I started to face him at turn 6 (killing him turn 7) with Sylvanas on board and Sap in hand, I did just made a board with nerubian (he killed my first egg) and a Sergeant to be taunt with Argus, I didn't attacked since I had the possibility to counter his giants, and finally I started face to bring him to 10 HP at turn 6, and he wasn't able to deal with my Sylvanas AND protect himself from my minions by taunting his 0 Mana Molten Giant (cuz Siphon Soul is 6 mana, so he wasn't able to taunt the giant, and even if he did this I had sap in my hand and some Eviscerate or other lethal conditions to draw).
Just wait for Sylvanas, BGH and Sap and the match up become pretty easy.
To the author : You should add Sylvanas and Sap in Mulligan against Handlock :)
Great deck, I really enjoy playing it. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I feel like if I don't get [card]Unearthed Raptor[/card] + Piloted Shredder or [card]Unearthed Raptor[/card] + Nerubian Egg in early game, I'm in a very bad position.
Hey Noeey, if I don't have the combo, I usually just throw down the Unearthed Raptor as a 3/4 for tempo rather than saving it for a combo later on in the game. Not sure if this was your problem, but there were many instances where I don't draw unearthed raptor and still being able to win the game.
