Hello, my name is KoekjeHebbe and a few weeks ago I went to one of the biggest LAN events in the BeNeLux called ‘the Reality’. Getting knocked out early in the event, I got salty and decided to grind the ladder with something ‘new’.
Me and a ‘former’ teammate, Chinoize, decided to take on Jackker's Top 4 EU Legend Secret Paladin Guide and give it the tempo it needs. We added Hobgoblins, changed some key cards and took it for a spin on the ladder. After grinding from midnight to 10 AM (don’t judge me), I went from rank 12 to Legend with our very own Hobgoblin Secret Paladin deck. Here are my secrets and my train of thoughts, I hope you enjoy the read!

Again a big shoutout to Rondels who helped me write this article, give him a follow on http://www.twitch.tv/rondelshs
I am 7 - 2 with this deck in mixed rank and casual play. This is a seriously fun deck, that also gives you a good chance to win.
I also tweaked the deck slightly, -1 Divine Favor +1 Enhance-o-matic. Think of it as a super-buff Compteitive Spirit that leaves a friendly minion.
I have seen a couple of Trogg Mage decks in the last few days. This should be an interesting twist in the meta.
I am now 11 - 3 with this deck. A 78.6% success rate is pretty sweet!
great deck by far one of the funnest secert Paladin deck i have play. Good win rate too
I can't help but be highly skeptical of a viable Paladin deck that doesn't run Shielded Minibot nor Truesilver Champion.
Also, what do you think about subbing Echoing Ooze in for Lance Carrier?
Nice deck man, thanks. What do you think about one Mysterious Challenger instead of two?
holy cow, first matchi played vs tempo mage, and lost so badly , i didnt even have chance to play any card and lost by turn 6
Well when you don't play any cards by turn 6 you're going to lose pretty hard with any deck ...
I have to say that this deck is AWESOME. Maybe the perfect secret paladin now. It's like I can't lose. I went from rank 13 to 8 in less than 2 hours. That's insane.
Control decks are a problem because I run out of cards, not steam. so I may have to switch out when the mirror rolls back around to control decks but tempo and aggro decks just can't beat it.
Well done. I might try Jeeves like the last poster suggested. If I do I will report back.
Edit: jeeves not good at all. 2nd divine favor fixes card draw problem for me
Rank 7 at 2:30pm
Rank 6 at 2:52 pm
Day 2: After about 6 hours play time floundering at rank 6, swapped repentance for 2nd divine favor, seems to be working.
Rank 5 at 10:11 am
What about replacing the Hobgobs with Truesilver-Champions?
I like the shell (the other 28 cards ^^) in this deck but im just not sure about the hobos. They can have great value if you can play 2+ minions with it, but they can also be a dead card. The Truesilver is always a solid choice.
I often find myself in these situations: Im playing vs. another aggrodeck and drop all my small minions early and get a good board controll but my hand is (nearly) empty. Then i draw a hobgoblin which has 0 value is this situation and i'd much rather have a Truesilver or even a Piloted Shredder.
I'm gonna test this and report back ;) greetings
Yeah man and also replace Mysterious Challengers with Ogre Ninjas :D
okay i'm impressed haha, i've been using a hobgoblin deck with my warlock for 2 seasons now, ended up getting to rank 6 last season. So to my surprise I see a Pally Hobgoblin deck? okay WTF? so i admit i got a little excited i didn't have any Mysterious Challenger cards, or any secret cards really, but I still wanted to give this a try. So I DE'd Neptulon and a few other epics and a bunch of rare's in order to craft your decklist.
First game i lost, but i had his ass at 2 health for like 4 turns but, stupid mage kept freezing my last minion and any other minion i had on board he would just kill off. BUT....
2nd game i was definitely impressed, and here's the screen shot of it... that's a nice turn 5 stat, and Mysterious Challenger didn't even come out yet, he ended up conceding during his turn after he saw that i had lethal...
So i'll play a little more, and update my progress... and possibly a few changes i'm thinking of incorporating... like a possible Argent Squire swap with a Blessing of Wisdom, we'll see... maybe another card... any suggestions?

I've been playing a Hobgoblin warlock deck for a few seasons, and yes that Hobgoblin is a pain in the ass when he doesn't show. So instead of relying on Hobgoblin, i changed my playing style and played the deck like a Zoo deck.
You have to know when to trade, and know when to hit the face with the cards you do have. it takes practice, a lot of patience... because that stupid Hobgoblin gets stubborn sometimes... but NEVER put a Hobgoblin in your starting hand. you want 1 and 2 mana minions
Yeah, definitely don't focus on Hobgoblin. He's more of an inclusion because the deck already runs several 1-attack minions in Argent Squire, Secret Keeper, Annoy-o-Tron, Lance Carrier, and Haunted Creeper. If you get to combo Hobgoblin, great, but combo'ing him is not crucial to the deck's success.
I got to rank 5 with the deck, which is tied for my personal best. I'm normally a shaman player, but... ya know... shaman.
This is not working for me. Is any gameplay video of this out there?
Happen to have any footage of this deck being played / stream where you play it?
Really good deck. Have gone from rank 13 to 5 with it. I was struggling with mages and mirror matchups so I subbed in a kezan mystic for one lance carrier and I've won 8 games in a row. Also loatheb has helped me a ton against Druid to take away the turn 9 combo. Any thoughts?
Yeah I've been thinking about putting kezan in some other decks of mine but haven't tried it in this one yet. And Loatheb might ineed be the card I will put in. It seems really strong now.
I haven't made any changed yet, but I might try some of these suggestions out soon. I'm on the fence about taking out Redemption and Repentance since it removes some of the Challenger and Secretkeeper value allthough it opens up spots for other cards.
Ok, I spent some more time with this deck and here are some comments;
It indeed seems like it could very well see some constructed play and be very viable, which surprised me. Changes I made personally right off the bat:
-1 Redemption; -1 Repentence. Switched these for +2 Echoing Ooze. More than once I've managed to have a 4/5 and 5/6 on the table on turn 6 with Blessing of Kings and Sword of Justice
-1 Lance Carrier as well, replaced it with Lowly Squire, lower mana so you can combo a bit better with HobGob.
Now, the most controversial. I dropped on Creeper for the Sword of Justice. But, whenever that's in play, it plays very well.
So far, so good. Enjoying very much this deck list. I would consider adding some Bloodmage Thanos as well, not sure?
