Hello there. Here is a deck I used to hit legend this season. I hadn't played aggro paladin ever before and still managed to hit legend with it. I played this deck from rank 3 to legend with ~70% winrate. I managed to go trough the rank 1 without a loss in ~30 minutes. The deck is very budgety (only 1560 dust) and everyone should be able to craft it. Here is the legendary proof:
The deck is based on protecting you minions and trying to preserve board presence with divine shields while going face and buffing your minions. Trading is not wrong with this deck especially in the early game.
Some card explanations:
Wolfrider: Better than Arcane Golem in my opinion. Playing Wolfrider on turn 3 doesn't hurt you at all where as Arcane Golems battlecry is just awful. Also if your opponent can deal with Wolfrider they can very often also deal with Arcane Golem. Arcane Golem also hurts your Divine Favor giving your opponent possibility to play more cards.
Argent Protector: A really solid card in many match ups. Helps you play around board clears, protects your minions and makes trading easier.
Coghammer: A solid weapon which also protects you minions.
Piloted Shredder: The best 4 drop in the game in my opinion. Sticky which is really good in this deck since you can use you buffs andArgent Protectors on it. Sometimes the card can screw you over with Explosive Sheep or Doomsayer but that just happened to me once.
Divine Favor: One of the best "draw cards" card. Usually draws you atleast 3 cards. Isn't that good against aggro but I usually beat aggro anyways with this deck so it doesn't really matter. Really powerful against control. Don't always dump your hand entirely before playing this card. For example don't play Abusive Sergeant on an empty board just to draw 1 extra card, unless you are very desperate.
Mulliganing:
Always mulligan for your 1 and 2 drops. I also recommend keeping Muster for Battle in your opening hand if curve well into it. I recommend keeping owl in your opening hand against hunter and warlock since both of those classes have good silence targets (for example Mad Scientist, Nerubian Egg, Twilight Drake)
Match-ups:
Good match-ups for this deck are any kind of aggro decks and midrange decks. Also I noticed handlock to be good match-up for this deck.
Bad match-ups are control decks. Warrior and freeze mage are extremely hard to beat with this deck. Rogue is also difficult to beat because of their wide variety of board clears and direct removal spells. It really depends on your start and divine favor if you can manage to win the bad match-ups.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments.
I know Annoy O Tron was run in some decks in the hammers place when the decks were first coming around. Try that?
A beautiful deck. Lots of nice aggro, good combos, and most importantly of all it's good against patron spam due to the several 3 attack and up minions in it. The composition is wonderful, and it doesn't rely on legendaries or specific combos as a crutch like most of the current meta...which at least for me, regardless of how I own half the legendaries in the game is fun in itself. Legendaries make some interesting gameplay, but tbh some of the recent ones are absurdly good to the point of all meta decks including either Dr Boom, Emperoro Tharissian, or both.
Piloted shreder imp is to slow for this deck and really messes up the pace. Replaced both with + owl and +arcane golem. Found myself losing several games by eithe 1-2 hp or taunt block. The changes I made seems to be working for me a lot better.
Also, how you mulligan will make or break probably 75%+ of your games.
I disagree. Piloted is critical for having sticky aggro, and because his replacement minion is random, it can lead to some unexpected results, such as a 0/4 Nat Pagle that you then put blessing of kings on for a 4/8 (gg priests) that has reoccurring card draw every 2 turns...not to mention that Piloted is essentially a 5/5 for 4 cost given that the summoned minion is always at least a 2/2, plus since it's split into two minions even if you aggro you usually get good trades out of it.
Took out both Shredders aswell and replaced them with Arcane Golem and Equality, I'm not sure about equality but it won me some games atleast, Shredders are imo too slow indeed.
Well, thing about this deck is that you're SUPPOSED to have an empty hand by turn 5-6 with only a Divine Favor left because you can get ABSURD value out of it. Just last match, I got 4 cards out of Divine Favor on turn 5, and yesterday I got 9 CARDS out of Divine Favor (opponent was holding 10 cards; I was able to drain all but two).
Divine Favor is usually horrible to rely on for your only card draw but because this is an aggro deck it is not only easy to dump your hand but is generally expected to. Finally, with an aggro deck, Divine Favor is really the only valuable card draw there is for Paladin. Consider this: most cards with carddraw have an inherent cost to them: Novice Engineer is a 2-cost 1/1, Gnomish Inventor is a 4-cost 2/4, so compared to the comparative cost, you lose 2/3 for a single card with Gnomish Inventor, not withstanding the fact that you can potentially have poor trades.
Now, since this is a rush deck, a single card...cannot make up for the loss of 2/3, because on average you would otherwise receive a 2/1 or 3/2 or 2/2 AND lose out on 2 mana. However, 3 mana cost for 3-9 cards means that 3 cost brings in absurdly high value compared to say, the Acolyte of Pain, and the value increases as it becomes your only source of card draw.
So overall, while it can sometimes lead to awkward matches, don't add any card draw other than Divine Favor. If you have to, I'd recommend crafting a Divine Favor just because of how critical it is for this deck, and because of how valuable it is comapred to the Acolyte of Pain (especially since there are no sources of self-damage for you to inflict).
Hello there, a really good ebola deck.Made 1 small change Argent Squire for a Annoy-o-Tron.Works pretty well protecting things like Knife Juggler.10-2 with it so far from rank 19.Thanks for sharing the list :) P.S (I made the change cuz i dont have 40 dust for a squire xD)
Deep Dark Change
hi man great deck , i tought you need legendaries to win but you proved me wrong :D , any advice against hunters tho ? i have like 20% winrate against them .. it's just impossible to win when they can face you all game and clear board easily... , and i don't have coghammer and i only have 1muster for battle 1 knife juggler and 1 divine favor ( i know i'm poor and invested all my dust on druid :x ) , any idea with what should i replace them till i get enough dust to craft them ? thanks for the great deck again ^^
I'm not the deck creator but a good replacement for DF would be Loot Carrier or whatever its name is.
I love this deck! I made 2 changes. I dropped cog hammer for one quartermaster and the deckhand for a brewmaster. Brewmaster resets our divine shield and iron beak and sometime lets us atk for 6 with wolf rider. and you can bounce quarter master! such good finisher and synergy!
Is it possible to play this deck with only 1 Divine Favour and Sword of Justice instead of Coghammer? And swapping one Muster for Battle for a Quartermaster?
It's not impossible, but it would make the deck slower and the reason why this deck is good it's because it's fast.
I have to say it is a pleasure to get insulted so much by other players!
I was thinking of adding a Sword of Justice to the mix, your thought on this card? Not sure what to removed though.
Anyway, thank you very much for this deck, I'm loving it =)
is there anywhere going better with this deck? like, making it maybe less budgety and replacing something with boom or whatever? heh hope you know what i mean :)
thanks for the guide!
this deck is amazing for my f2p EU alt, thank you so much for the decklist!
I tried this deck with a few small changes and have been certainly impressed!
It's mean!
Good job.
Any replacements for Coghammer?
Maybe one Arcane Golem?
I love this deck but i keep running into the problem of not drawing Divine favor when I need it most and then it being useless at end game.
