So I reached rank 1 legend on the Europe server yesterday (http://imgur.com/kdPdcFG) and wanted to share this decklist, cause a lot of people think that shaman isn't strong in the current meta, which I think is incorrect.
It's pretty standart shaman list, so I'll note the most important cards and why I've included them.
Big Game Hunter is very important in the current meta, because every deck runs Dr. Boom, also if you have it in hand you can use Hex freely for early board control.
Dr. Boom is an op card, that works very well in shaman, because of Flametongue Totem and Rockbiter Weapon.
Neptulon is a big threat that also refills your hand and provides huge card advantage. It is very important card in control match-ups, because most decks don't have enough AoE to deal with all your minions and murlocs, that you got from Neptulon.
Al'Akir the Windlord can be used as finisher or as a removal. It can be substituted with Doomhammer, but a lot of decks are running Harrison Jones, so I had to cut it from my deck.
Antique Healbot really helps in a hunter match-up, also gives more time against other aggresive decks, like zoo or mech mage.
Best match-ups for this deck are: control warrior, handlock, zoo, druid.
Worst match-ups: freeze/control mage, hunter
kinda much overload in my opinion, maybe would swap the harvest golems for the Unbound elemental then...?
Why zombie chow? I never understand why people other than priest run this card
It's a great turn 1 play if your early game is more focused on controlling the board than going face. If you play it right, it'll only heal your opponent for 2 or 3.
no neptulon and dr. boom :(. does it work with them replaced by sylvanas/loatheb/sneed/ragnaros?
Hey mate! Sick deck! Rly nice. I would rly appreciate a mulligan part though. i've no idea =(
Great deck, just one quick question. I have everything to a T aside from Neptulon. I saw in a prior comment you had advised running a mana tide if you didn't have it for the card draw. Do you think the card draw is that important in this deck? Before i read the comments and i was playing straight off of craft I just threw in Carine in place of it because I saw the tiny bit of synergy with the undertaker and it was a good place filler it just being a good card. Would you still advise running the mana tide if i have this Carine option available?
What can I replace Dr. Boom With? Needing some help. Accidentally crafted Troggzor when GvG came out. Have some regrets. Other then that I can fully complete the deck.
I'm running a nearly identical list I had -1 Antique Healbot and -1 Flametongue Totem for +1 Harrison Jones and +1 Bloodmage Thalnos. I certainly like the Antique Healbot but not sure if I should cut Harrison or Bloodmage for it.
Why would you run Bloodmage Thalnos? This deck has sufficient card draw and guaranteed +SP is of little use when you have totems and Azure Drake.
Antique Healbot is essential against aggro decks like hunter - and others, I'm sure.
If you're looking for explicit help for a situation, you need to provide more details!
How much is your win rate against HL? I have most trouble with them..
I've only bumped into a small handful of handlocks, and have only lost once - which was before I added Harrison Jones in place of the second Crackle. This will wreck Jaraxxus!
I think you've hit the nail on the head on both counts - Neptulon is great, and if you can't draw into removal like Lightning Storm, Earth Shock or Crackle Vs zoo then yes, you're done. (as would any other class!)
Board presence will come later on, once you keep them back and slowly establish control. Unlike your opponent, you're not racing to burst them down! Hope this helps!
In games that may lead to fatigue, eg Vs control priest, handlock, control warrior - the free cards given to you by Neptulon will give you the edge.
As an example, I got a Coldlight Oracle in a game earlier, which helped to fatigue my opponent down. In addition, if you're lucky you might draw Old Murk-Eye and some helpful murloc buffs!
I would not replace Zombie Chow - it's a great turn 1 drop (if you win the mulligan, of course) and very useful against aggro decks - you'll nearly always get a 2 for 1 trade on it.
Obviously, if drawn later on - be sensible with it. If you have a high chance at winning - even if you drop it and they kill it, you're clearly in a strong position and I'm sure you won't struggle to find another 5 damage to make lethal.
Keeping it in your hand is also strong - because your opponent doesn't know what it is. Also if you have a strong board and spare mana, don't be tempted to play it - it'll likely fall victim to an AoE board clear.
Hope this helps!
If you really want to replace it, I would say that Gnomish Inventor is a card you should consider.
Well this deck made my shaman dailies a ton easier, I can't say it's consistent enough against Zoo/Mech aggro decks to make the ladder climb less painful as a Shaman but it's a solid deck nonetheless, thanks for the share.
Yes, it's viable.
I'm running it in place of the second Crackle, and Harrison Jones instead of the second Defender of Argus.
Can you teach me how to beat zoo? I can't beat zoo with any shaman deck and I like this one the most. But alas I guess I suck lol.
Mulligan hard for early minion drops. Feral Spirit, Zombie Chow, and Haunted Creeper and then look for early removal in Crackle and Rockbiter Weapon. Holding a lightning storm is a gamble due to the overload, you need a play after it.
Hold Lightning Storm till you can get a three for one or stave off death. Don't be shy with using hex, those aggressive decks don't run enough big minions to hold it for them. You'll have to rely on your better minion quality in late game to deal with them.
In short find and early minion drop, find removal, be greedy with Lightning Storm, and don't be greedy with Hex.
To be fair if an aggressive deck curves perfectly, plays on turns 1 - 5 there isn't a lot most decks can do about it.
