RooseB Tempo Shaman
Introduction
Hey, Guys I want to share with you my updated Shaman list. The original Bloodlust Shaman (link) was not faring too well in the new meta against a lot of Hunter and Priest. This updated version has several differences and a new game plan targeted at gaining board control from turn one and leveraging it into a strong middle game.
Videos and Stream
I have recorded 10 videos so far with the new list, and I am trying to upload 3 games per day. If there is interest I will stream the deck. You can find the youtube channel here:

Gameplan
As mentioned, the aim of this deck is to fight for early board control. Zombie Chow, Haunted Creeper, Flametongue Totem, Feral Spirit and Harvest Golem are strong early minions and Rockbiter Weapon and to some extent Earth Shock efficient removal.
When we achieve board control we try to spin it in a big advantage by either cashing in dorks with Cult Master or sticking a Mana Tide Totem that they cannot remove without problems. Another way to win is to just have a strong curve that tops out with Fire Elemental and a lethal Bloodlust.
Against Aggresive strategies (Hunter and Zoo) we can try to outlast them with Sludge Belcher, Defender of Argus and Lightning Storm.
Comparisons to the old Deck
In terms of raw card change, this deck evolved from the old Bloodlust deck by changing these cards:
- -1 Argent Squire
- -2 Gnomish Inventor
- -1 Loot Hoarder
- -2 Nerubian Egg
- -1 Bloodlust
- +2 Cult Master
- +1 Mana Tide Totem
- +2 Sludge Belcher
- +2 Zombie Chow
The biggest change in terms of game play is the cutting of the 2 Nerubian Egg. While the egg can be very good, in the new more aggresive meta game one can not tolerate the sometimes clunky draws, when you e.g. do not have a way to activate the egg. Same logic applies to the 2nd copy of Bloodlust, sometimes good, seldom great it clogs up many draws and does not allow us to fight for the board activly.
The most important additions are on the one hand Zombie Chow which is a very strong turn one play, and even later allows us to contribute a relevant body to the board. Cult Master is the prefered draw engine of the deck. With so many tokens from our creatures and our hero abillity we have many ways to win games by turn 4,5 or 6 when we stick a Cult Master, sometimes a Cult Master + Flametongue Totem to draw us alot of cards and put many games out of reach for our opponent. Mana Tide Totem provides a similar, yet weaker threat. Still Turn one Zombie Chow into coined out Mana Tide Totem is a very strong opening sequence.
More to come soon, please leave your comments and thoughts.
Ive dropped one cult master for a second bloodlust, dont know why its been working for me hahah 1 for removal and 1 for a finisher. thnx for the list.
i will! i just cut it out because i was drawing too much at one point haha
Great deck Roose,
Can you put in the description some of the combos one should look to create as well as mulligan and opening strategies for both going first and when you have the coin?
Thanks.
Currently 9/4 with this deck at rank 10, I only did 1 change which was -1 Harvest golem +1 forked lightning. First time i try forked lightning in current meta and it works incredibly well with this deck, its amazing vs hunters and zoo if you get it in opening hand, and it's very good later on when you have spell damage totem and a azure drake out for 4 damage to 2 targets.
Not sure, the deck feels very stable at the moment, will have to get more games in to see if it works long term
no lightning bolt?
Also not very fun when your hammer get harrison'ed... T_T He's popular lately.
Glad to see you're back with another deck. I loved the old one. I am still seeing too much hunter and priest to rely on shaman but I'm having good results with this deck in my first few matches. Personally I can't wait for the new shaman cards and hope that you post something soon after release. GL on the ladder!
I am so bad against priests and I see them often enough that I've been avoiding shaman decks until recently. I do have 2 out of 3 wins against hunters with this list (small sample size , I know). Since card draw is plentiful, what would you think of -1 harvest golem, -1 mana tide totem, -1 defender; +2 shades of naxx, +1 windspeaker? Seems to me it would help both matchups by adding reach that isn't removed with every other card we throw down. Do you think it would hurt the other matchups? I'll test it a bit and let you know.
