In the recent nerf Jaina got covered as well. You might not have noticed it but she looks a bit different compared to last week. Anyway our Rank #1 Legend friend Bongoman used not just Mechathun Warlock but also this deck for his climb to the top spot. He is #3 as of writing this and I thought you might enjoy this deck as well. As I am new to this deck there is no long guide or explanations besides the basics, enjoy :)
General Strategy
We throw Fireball & Frostbolt in their face, but besides that we can surprise the opponent with different secrets and mess up their play style by playing the mind games. A well timed Duplicate might make all the differences when you can follow up with 2x 0 Mana Kabal Crystal Runner and some spells. If those evil Priests put an Obsidian Statue onto the board we can make it a boar with Polymorph Boar or use it as a safe Huffer for us
Replacements
As I personally only got 1 copy of Iceblock and no Stargazer Luna I substituted both with 2x Flamewaker as it can also go face and has synergy with basically every single card in this list
Aluneth - I crafted the weapon just for this deck and I gotta say that it is your win condition against slower decks. The continues pressure it provides is on of its kind but a Coldlight Oracle ore even Jeeves might fit the list instead of it
As all other cards are either Rare, Common or Basic I wouldn´t recommend replacing too many of them. The Secrets can obviously be interchanged and a Mirror Entity might be way better than Counterspell if you only face Warlock as an example. Besides that feel free to include tech cards like Acidic Swamp Ooze & Tinkmaster Overspark if your match ups require them. All in all the core function of this deck sticks to "throw spells in their face" so apart from that you should be good with any card choices you make
*Great Guide!!!!* Thanks guys, appreciate it!
If you got any questions feel free to ask them either on stream or in the comments down below, I´ll be happy to answer and discuss the card choices!
And Big Thanks to Tommy Wave for his Video about this deck!
Confirmed deck is pretty ok .
Reminds me of my mortal enemies in wow pvp. I am a warrior. I dont not like being controlled by a mage .
pretty ok = almost good = craft it :p
I wonder if this is better than the "standard" secret mage list?
As there are choices made depending on what you encounter, which tech cards are relevant atm and at which rank you play there just can´t be a "best version". If all you see is Eater of Secrets than get rid of them and within seconds the whole "Secret Part" is gone just as an example
To be sure: Did you pilot this deck from rank 5 till legend (as your title suggests)?
At next weekend I want to try it and I am still considering about the deck to use for this project ;-)
Nope, the deck is FROM the guy who got to rank 1 legend playing mainly this from rank 5 on wards. I am too much of a meme deck streamer as to get to legend within the first week :p
Alright, now I understand. Thank you very much! ;-)
This deck is really gross to play against and I feel really guilty whenever I play it. There's something just disgusting about click and drag over and over, while your opponent just sits there helpless.
Its pretty much playing Solitair and waiting for your opponent to go to 0
I was smoked by a deck like this , I created on very similar with a few tweaks, I went from rank 14 to rank 9 with 12 game win streak... its nasty , not so much strategy but full out pressure
Good to hear!
Created an account just to say that this deck is amazing. Yesterday, after not playing hearthstone for two months, i decided to get back to play it once again and from rank 25 to rank 15, i had a winstreak of 19 wins. Sadly I was playing on phone so I couldn't had tracked my matches, sorry, hope u are going to believe me.
So if you believe me or not, I just want to say that this deck is definitely worth trying, really fun to play and amazingly powerful in ranks 25-15. Since rank 14, it has gotten harder with better players and strong decks but i still win most of matches. Thanks for sharing, i'm going to try to get even higher in the ladder.
PogChamp!
Such a fun list, big shoutout to Bongoman for the deck! Played a few games with it, check them out;
(Games start at 3:04)
Thanks!
Any time, stay wavy!
I have never written anything on this site before, but I created an account to say that this deck is useless - or at least to me with 10+ games. And I am not new to this game, nor do I play rather badly... The decks you face have countered this before and adapted fittingly.
That can be due to a lot of different things though. The deck has worked quite well for me, so it certainly isn't useless.
What rank did you play at? Deck archetype popularity varies a lot depending on the rank, so you might be at a rank where you meet all the good counters to this deck. As the title suggests, this deck works well in Legend, so you can't be sure at all other ranks.
Have you played other Aggro/Secret Mage decks in the current patch? Or any other patch? It's quite a different play style than most other deck archetypes, so it can take some getting used to before it goes smoothly.
It always takes a few games to get used to any new deck; learning the strategy and remembering synergies is nearly impossible without some practice, so you can't really base the worth of a deck on your first 10-12 games with it.
Luck is always a major factor, regardless of the deck, rank, skill and opponent, so it actually might just have been a string of bad luck with the cards you drew and the opponents you faced.
Try giving it another 10-15 games to see if you continue to have bad luck, or maybe you understand/play the deck better.
Well said!
Thanks so much for replying to my shitpost - posted in anger and tilt.
You are completely right in all of your points and you wrote them in such a friendly way, that i realized how unintelligent my post was. This deck isn't bad, nor useless. I just got my ass kicked so many times in a row - that i fell down to level of shitposters.(max tilt) I'm sorry! I will try this deck out some more and be more constructive with my feedback. Peace.
