Mulligan:
Always keep: Radiant Elemental + Power Word: Shield, Bloodmage Thalnos, Loot Hoarder
vs aggro: Spirit Lash, Shadow Word: Pain
vs control: Twiligh's Call (when you have 2 deathrattle minions), Prophet Velen
Card Replacements:
Vivid Nightmare -> Malygos (for more dmg)
Mass Dispel -> Shadow Essence (get you minions easier)
Side Notes:
Against Control Decks with polymorph effect you can kill your own Prophet Velen with Shadow Word: Death to still ressurect it with spellstone
Against aggro decks use Bloodmage Thalnos with Spirit Lash or try to set up same thing with Prophet Velen
Combo:
!sequencing is important!
Radiant Elemental + Lesser Diamond Spellstone + Vivid Nightmare on Radiant Elemental + Vivid Nightmare on Prophet Velen + Mind Blast (24 dmg from one copy) x2 + Holy Smite (12 dmg from one copy) x2
*you can do the same thing without Radiant Elemental as a first played card or you can just deal less dmg against decks that don't stack up armor
**remember to BM your opponent
Cards Explanation:
Holy Smite - additional burst dmg or can be used on minions as a single target removal
Power Word: Shield - cycle and buff your minion. best target for it is radiant elemental
Mind Blast - main source of burst dmg with prophet velen
Radiant Elemental - this will make your spells cheaper to then OTK your opponent or just make playing spells easier
Shadow Visions - discover key cards. It's important to have spellstone early to buff it to 3rd form. or you can just try to get more burst or board clears
Shadow Word: Pain - great against early minions or just sth with huge amount of health and low attack points
Spirit Lash - main healing source in this deck. it can be also used with bloodmage thalnos or prophet velen to heal for more and also deal more dmg
Shadow Word: Death - cheap way to kill any big minion like for example Lich king
Twilight's Call - Ress Bloodmage Thalnos and Loot Hoarder to get more cards
Vivid Nightmare - copy one of your cards. Combo piece that will allow you to make your spells cheaper and they will deal more dmg
Mass Dispel - get rid of few buffs with one card and on top of it's a card draw. counter to Edwin, Fungalmancer etc.
Lesser Diamond Spellstone - ress your minions and then kill your opponent with burst
Prophet Velen - main source of dmg. double or fourfold the fun and dmg
Psychic Scream - interesting board clear that will make your opponent deck worse because they will have to draw those cards once again
Bloodmage Thalnos - spell dmg and card draw. great card with a lot of synergies
Loot Hoarder - card draw with deathrattle so it can be resurrected
Proof:
no chance with this deck vs aggro pala / warlock ,
Waaay too slow !
I run a similar version but with just 1 vivid that I use only on velen and it wrecks warlock most of the time and it is 60/40 vs pally. Only really unfavorable matchup is secret mage with turn 1 wyrms
I'm rank 4 atm :) and I tell you that this deck never beats aggro .
Greetings! And in advance I apologize for my terrible English.
I suppose that for a combo you need x1 "charged" Lesser Diamond Spellstone, х2 Vivid Nightmare , and the condition under which each of the minions died during the match?
proof of top 50?
Hi, will you post that mulligan? I'm using the deck... so funny.
Yes i will write guide today ;)
Not a fan of this deck. Mediocre win rate, and you have to immediately concede to any polymorph card used on Prophet Velen.
you can use shadow word death on your own prophet velen ;)
The point is that the spellstone version of Velen priest is prone to any sort of addition to your ressurect pool: Poly effects, Leeroy, Raptorgirl. Second downside is an overly late spellstone due to itself or shadow being hidden in bottom. Third downside is general lack of draw and being overly dependent on drawing your few DR minions early. Sure, Scream will save your ass often enough, yet i am certain that this is not the most optimal build yet.
Dont get me wrong, i like the deck and it can be really effective. It is just a really RNG dependant one amongst the combo decks, due to lacking draw. I think Velen priest is one of the decktypes with the biggest potential in the meta right now, just the lists developed so far are all lackluster in one way or the other.
Been playing this for 2 months now. If you are up against anything that can polymorph or add to your pool then you have to change your play. They wont waste a polymorph on a radiant elemental or loot horder so you have to death your own velen. If they do poly anything then you need to avoid playing out bloodmage thalnos, that way you guarantee to res a loot hoarder, radiant, velen and a sheep.
There are many many ways to win with this deck. The biggest let down is when you dont get a loot hoarder or bloodmage in the first 10 cards. Way behind then.
Ofc they will poly any of your minions as soon as they see youre obv a spellstone version, cause guess what, it is not a "waste" then. Deathing Velen is obv. But that is not enough. Opp plays 1 poly/adds to ress pool, youre screwed.
And not playing Thalnos screws you even more over in terms of carddraw.
Im not arguing this is a good deck, just tryng to be helpful. You can still win against mage and shaman, you just have to adapt your play style. If your opponent polymorphs both of your radiants then you misplayed. Dont give them the option.
The advice about bloodmage doesnt work if its in your opening hand as you rightly say, but if pull it after loot hoarder against mage or shaman it is very far from game over. If you need cards that desperately when you know they can destroy your win condition you have probably already lost.
So is taunt druid and yet look at taunt druid.
This is my opinion exactly, I think somehow for this deck to be consistent it needs to fit in Witchwood Piper somewhere for the same reason that Kingsbane Rogue needs it.
I'm playing this deck currently and loving it. I dont have Bloodmage, thats my next craft. But i play with Essence and Eternal Servitude. Essence give me a chance for an Early Velen and Servitude just gives me more options.
I run Essence and Servitude as well but I put in Malygos incase Velen gets taken down.
