We have a Hunter deck that has proven successful for several different players. Currently the fifth best deck on the ladder, this arsenal combines Secrets and early control to clear the way for some very dangerous beasts, such as Savannah Highmane, King Krush, or one of Deathstalker Rexxar’s Zombeasts.
Wich card is more important ? Rexxar ou King Crush ? I only have dust for one, and snake trap is really necessary ?
Hi Mate,
If I were you, Id craft Rexxar, as his value in insane vs. some meta decks. You can switch King Krush with Charged Devilsaur
Hope it helps :)
Totally agree.
The only benefit of King Krush is, that it will not rotate out (I doubt, that they put it to Hall of Fame), but Rexxar is still quite new, so this worry is not really valid.
Any replacement for cat trick?
is there any place for Swamp King Dred in this deck?
is tracking really necessary? I really hate the loss of cards.
tracking can be a crucial card. But I agree that if you get unlucky you will have to choose between 2 or 3 key cards. It also sucks in early game most of the time
You pretty much never go to fatigue with this deck so tracking discarding stuff isn't a big deal
Not only it's not a loss of cards, it actually helps some of your decisions by knowing that you will not draw those 2 cards this game, so you're not counting on them anymore.
Awesome deck so far. I removed one tracking to add a N'Zoth in as I believe it can add a lot of value in late game (saved me few times).
Charged Devilsaur IMO
PanjaSoul's suggestion is good, but you would be well served to get King Krush into your lineup. Just beat a priest who used a Spiteful to luck into a 4/8 Taunt. Was still able to win by having King remove the taunt, and then kill with the other cards he had let alone after he dropped the taunt and was sure I'd be dead next turn.
For myself, I substituted 2 Flares for the 2 Tracking. Yes they cost 1 mana more, but you don't end up throwing away two cards, and you have a defence against Mage and any other Hunters.
Flares are decent, but you need(okay not need, but the deck will be much less proficient if you don't) AT LEAST one tracking in the deck. The inexperienced among us may say it just wastes card, but in reality, it helps you adapt to your situation, and thin you deck(which is good in any matchup besides mill). Always is a great play, no matter what.
You can switch King Krush with Charged Devilsaur
Is this Kibler's list? I seem to remember him playing a very similar, if not the same, list.
It's not "Kibler's" list, but close to it. There are only so many cards to play, so you'll see similar decks that revolve around legendary cards such as Barnes and Kathrena. Usually, when I see a deck that has more than 3-5 different cards it's pretty much a different deck.
This deck has a lot of potential. I think it's missing a few pieces that aren't in game for it to be Tier 1. Hunter really needs heal in the form of a spell. Hunter's have Spirit Bond in WoW, so not sure why it's not in here yet-- specially with Blizzard making control focused cards. Also, Hunter needs 1 consistent board clear. Crushing Walls is the closest option available, but that should only be a 1-of at most. That being said, I think some of these cards don't belong in this deck. Cloaked Huntress, Secretkeeper, and Spellbreaker. If these cards are in the deck, it doesn't really make sense to play Barnes-- Barnes cannot afford to low roll consistently in a deck that has no draw. Expanding on the no draw feature, this is what makes Cloaked Huntress and Secretkeeper really weak. Those cards are great in a vacuum; however, combo cards are not good with Hunter unless the combo cards are good by themselves. With no draw, Hunter can run out of cards quickly, which means each card should do it's best to standalone to guarantee value. Example: If you play Cloaked Huntress on Turn 3 and in a very good scenario, you play 2-secrets, what do you do Turn 4-6? Your hand is pretty much empty at that point unless you got a great starting hand. Likewise with Secretkeeper; if this card isn't in your hand at the start it becomes very bad. You don't want to top-deck this card in the middle stages of the game as that's a huge tempo loss, since we have no card draw. Secretkeeper could perhaps be a 1-of.
Overall, a fun deck to play; I'd say it's at the top of Tier 2 decks. However, playing against Cubelock or Highlander Priest, it's an uphill battle. Basically, if they draw the nuts and you draw the nuts, then you lose, which is not a healthy way to design a game. Blizzard will get it eventually, and make an insane board clear or heal mechanic for Hunter in a year and then Hunter will be a contender. Until then, it's fun to play and hope Tier 1 opponent's misses some key turns, so you can steal wins.
Yeah, this is Kibler's list, but with a coupe substitutions so the "creator" can say it's a new/their own deck, when really they just copied Kibler's. Hate to be blunt, but sometimes, you gotta be
I tried with this deck and Barnes proves to the key of joy and agony. One game, barnes draws out a 1/1 cloak huntress and I have no secrets in hand. That really is a waste of my turn when I can at least equip a eaglehorn. On another occasion, it drew out a 1/1 violent wurm. I agree with Sharifoe that this deck needs a some slight tweak to make it more consistent.
