EDIT: I made some changes to the deck in order for it to be cheaper, and, I think, better.  I dropped one Arcane Giant, one Kabal Lackey, and Medivh, the Guardian, to be replaced with Babbling Book (2) and Polymorph. My reasoning was fairly simple. One of the problems I noted in the original draft of this writeup is that this deck runs out of steam quickly. Though it isn't a ridiculous shift, throwing two Babbling Books on the board gets you two extra cards, and that always helps.

The decision to add a Polymorph was based on the number of times I have nearly won a game, but been overwhelmed by a mid/late game play by my opponent that features a minion significantly stronger than most of the ones I have in this deck. A good example of where Polymorph is useful would be against Warlock when Voidlord is played.

After making these changes I was able to move up to rank 11, so my assessment of the deck in the first writeup seems correct: Great for ranks 20-15, playable but not dominant in ranks 15-10. With these changes I think the deck is better than it was previously, and now the crafting cost better reflects the part of ranked where this deck is most usable.

END EDIT.

This is a Secret Mage deck I started running a few days ago. When I started using it I was rank 20 (no stars) and did not have much trouble at all climbing to 15. I lost one, maybe two games along the way. Since then I have struggled a bit more, but I have not been playing Hearthstone more than two or so weeks, so struggles I am having are probably a mixture of the deck and my relative lack of experience. Even still, last night I was able to reach rank 13, so I still have a >50% winrate since reaching rank 15, and I expect I can climb a bit further this season.

Secret Mage without Aluneth is obviously not ideal, and this deck runs out of steam fairly quickly once the game progresses to the later turns. As such, I consider this a pretty aggressive deck, and I play it that way. If I am playing, say, Priest, Hunter, or Druid, this deck needs to be in a position to win before the other player is able to utilize their hero card. If the other player is able to draw and play their hero card, I usually lose.

This is where the Arcane Giants come in. Since I am usually throwing so many spells out there in the early/mid game, the giants can get cheap pretty quick, and they can be useful late game. Playing the Arcane Giants offer targets that an opponent can't ignore, and they can sometimes buy enough time for spells like Frostbolt, Fireball, or Firelands Portal to finish your opponent off. With this in mind, I consider Arcane Giant to be a better fit for this deck than Corridor Creeper.

Overall, I think this is a good deck for ranks 20-15, and I think it's probably pretty solid for ranks 15-10 if you don't have the dust to get cards like Aluneth. If you want more in-depth strategy, it's honestly probably better to just watch better players play Secret Mage decks, because this one isn't unusual with most of its cards. If anyone wants to know how I approach matches against each hero, though, I will gladly post it.

Small side details: Medivh, the Guardian is in this deck and I am honestly not sure it's needed. I put it in the deck because it pairs so well with Firelands Portal, but it may just be too slow. I cannot recall winning any particular game because of Medivh, and I need to pay more attention to that. He might need to be replaced with another spell, or a cheaper, early/mid game minion.

I only have one Primordial Glyph. This is simply because I don't want to spend the dust one it right now when I have already reached my goal rank for the season (rank 15) and I am also working on cheapish Jade Druid and Dragon Priest decks. Obviously, if you want to run this deck and you have to Glyphs, they should both be in there.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions for the deck, let me know, though I think its main purpose is just for someone who is running Secret Mage but does not yet have Aluneth (i.e. me).
