This card's worth aside, what does Anomalus have to do with the Old Gods? Last I checked, he's just some arcane elemental that showed up in the Nexus one day going 'Yo Malygos I heard you've got a ton of magic...'
What does Nat Pagle have to do with the Old Gods? It's Blizzard; shit happens. Remember that time WoW had an expansion full of pandas that knew karate and kung-fu? Or the time they made a game about auction houses that was called Diablo 3? They do some crazy things, man.
This card is actually amazing if you think about it.
Take this situation for example. You have 5 cards on the board. Your opponent has 1 card.
You play anomalus.
That's (5+1)*8=70 damage.
Compare that to playing a Ragnaros for example.
1*8 = 7 damage.
That's 7 times the damage!
Basically, for its value, this card should cost 7 times more.
If Blizzard doesn't nerf this, this card is basically a free win.
What about you replace mad scientist or heal bot that are banned in standard, and don't you get this is a joke? These people are kidding about dealing 70 damage, even if it's towards your own minions.
If it was deal 8 damage to all characters this'd actually be pretty good as late game for some face mage say, with ice block up. Tho that might kill handlock too much
You do realize a Mage with Ice Block up can kill themselves on their own turn, so playing the card (if it was deal 8 to all characters) the secret wouldn't proc you would just die if you had 8 or less health.
The thought I had was that you drop Anomalus with ice block and the opposing player can't clear Anomalus after popping iceblock, guaranteeing 8 face dmg unless he has taunt. Now that I think about it tho yeah the idea is dumb
This card would have been better if it had less hp.
Whatever people , this card has a beautiful art...
"Why" does this card exist is probably going to be answered in the next set/year.
Right now, I don't think it's that underpowered. 8 is a big number, so there have to be some considerable downsides to playing this minion (The huge mana cost, the low health, the effect being a Deathrattle.) If the effect was a battlecry, this would be way too good and completely flip the idea of what it means to play a "Mage" on its back as a class.
Is it dust? I don't think so. It's a good minion. It's averagely good.... boring, yes. Very very boring. But the art is awesome and it's probably going to have really stunning animations!
My biggest issue with it is the existance of Rhonin. Rhonin is an 8 mana deathrattle minion that wins you the game if not killed and gets huge value if killed. Anomalus is an 8 mana deathrattle minion that wins you the game if not killed and gets huge value if killed. Usually, redundency is good, it makes a deck archetype more reliable, but not really in this case, not when it's 8 mana curve-top legendaries. Overall, would not craft this, will play if I open it.
if its a battle cry no need for it to be a minion because it will die as you play it, they would make it a spell that costs 8 mana and does 8 aoe damage to the whole map which is kinda broken.
Well no, because if they made it a battlecry, then the wording would be changed to "other minions," like Ravaging Ghoul. But yeah I see your point, if it were a spell or battlecry it would be broken.
I personally find this card pretty decent. Especially with a 10 mana sunfury anomalus combo. Seems pretty good that you can deal 8 to all minions. You can activate the deathrattle on your turn and build up the board. Im probably going to run this in like a control freeze mage.
Voidcaller rotated out and literally summoned this guy.
But if you think about it if you crash Anomalus into Tirion Fordring you do kill him and most if not all the board at once.
definitively u'r right.
