A Note on Class Cards
Zeriyah has reached out to us to clarify that there is indeed two different class cards for each class, although this information is not readily available online at the moment. One of these class cards will be sourced from the class challenges. This is an update to our previous statement which said there were only going to be nine class cards in Blackrock Mountain which has now been proven false.
This also changes our previous statements on class card rarity, so they have been retracted. We may indeed see a common and a rare class card for each class, although we won't know for certain until we see all the cards.
Our apologies for the misinformation! Our BRM Guide has been updated with this new information.
Update: Ben has now confirmed publicly that each class has 1 Common and 1 Rare.
New Card Clarifications
Quote from BlizzardLava Shock
It resets your overload on the current turn, and your next turn. (Ben Brode)
It only clears mana that is currently locked or will be locked next turn. Playing Lava Shock and then playing a card with Overload will result in you still having Overload on your next turn. (Ben Brode)
So turn 10, overloaded 3, you play Doomhammer + Lava Shock. Lava Shock lets you use the 3, plus full mana next turn?
Yes. (Ben Brode)
More Blackrock Mountain Cards

Zfinally it is 2 class cards! Hype!
I don't see how it's annoying at all! Unless when you cast the damn thing it says "Goodbye! Goodbye! Goodbye!"
Not really, annoy-oTron has a special place in our cards and cannot be replaced by any spell :)
Wait. We will have 1 common and 1 rare for each class. So thats 18 cards. and if every boss give a card (like in naxx) thats + 17 cards. and every wing 1 legendary thats +5. So 18+17+5= 40. but they said we wil have 31 new card.
Boss can give class card too, not only challenge
Jubak is correct.
I believe Lava Shock can, and will, bring Midrange and Control Shaman (really) back.
Lava shot looks like a game changer.
When playing against shaman, we're always counting mana and overload to know when they can lightning storm / feral (and so on) in proper conditions, without preventing for example a turn 6 Fire Elly. Lava shot changes this.
I already play with a Shammy deck focused on Unbound Elemental (see it in my decklist, it is quite viable), but this new class card can give it even more options (though I'm not sure what to swap with it and I think that the lack of Shaman card draw will become even more problematic).
Why not try Gadgetzan Auctioneer?
Interesting idea... Though my deck doesn't contain a lot of spells, it could be tweaked to some sort of spell damage deck which can abuse Gadgetzan Auctioneer...
I don't see Gadgetzan Auctioneer fitting into Shaman. I see Mana Tide Totem as an excellent card draw source. It's not always consistent, but now that Earth Elemental and Feral Spirit's Overload will be nullified, it will be a lot easier to protect. Inadvertently, Lava Shock is allowing Mana Tide to be more effective.
So, what would be the break-even number of draws? Two?
Even just playing it to cycle is sometimes the best play. Though, when it's the only card draw in your deck, you might not want to do this unless you're desperate for a specific card. Two is solid, and anything else starts to really add up. Shaman can do a lot with just a few cards and a totem, so having a lot of cards makes a big difference! If people burn a card killing it, that's a great scenario. They just spent a card killing a 0/3 that already drew you a card. I like Mana Tide Totem, and I'm happy to see it will be even better this expansion!
I don't know how I feel about there being 2 class cards..
That leaves only 13 other cards and we've already seen 4 of them. SO 9 more.
axe flinger looks pretty cool and ought to synergize well with things like whirlwind and wild pyro, though it won't fit in current control warrior lists. lava burst is a great concept, but I'm not sure how much practical application it will really have in constructed play. but regardless of how much play they actually get, I like both cards
Ben Brode said that Lava Shock resets your overload on the current turn, or your next turn. Ok, but what if we have overloaded mana in the current and next turn? Resets all of them?
Both, check his twitter.
EDIT: https://twitter.com/bdbrode/status/575346856806346752
Some people are not really getting Lava Shock ... IT actually solves some of the main issues with shaman, the inhability to play overload card in order to make better plays next turn. Mech mage already slipping out of control on turn 5? you HAVE to choose between try to wipe their board with Lightning Storm , or play some smaller crap and hope to trade with Fire Elemental next turn. Now, with Lava Shock, you can Lightning Storm the board, KILL any remains with Lava Shock, and unlock your overloaded mana crystals for a Fire Elemental that is going to clean any survivor, on curve.
Ths problem with shaman and overloaded cards repeats itself with other cards and other turns, namely Feral Spirit , Crackle, Lightning Bolt. All of these make your turn 5 into a mess: choosing wether to gimp yourself in turn 5, hoping to have better chances at the next turn, or gimping yourself at turn 6, praying that the rng-god and your opponent's hand are in your favor.
Now, Neptulon and Earth Elemental are a different case, but im not going to go deep on that matter, the upside is obvious.
Lava Shock FTW , shaman may return!
get my +1, that's what's up!
