Reverted Nerfs Announced - Druid, Hunter & Mage
A selection of Nerfed cards will see their nerfs reverted later this month and before Forged in the Barrens goes live. Blizzard announced the cards for Druid, Hunter and Mage, as well as technically Demon Hunter, which sees no cards being reverted.
The Changes:
- Keeper of the Grove from 2/2 stat line back to a 2/4 stat line.
- Ancient of Lore Same stats, now has choice to draw 2 cards, instead of 1 again.
- Starving Buzzard Now a 2 mana 2/1 with same card text again.
- Flare Now costs 1 Mana.
- Dinotamer Brann Now costs 7 Mana again.
- Hunter's Mark Now costs 1 Mana.
- Mana Wyrm Now a 1 Mana 1/2 stat line.
- Conjurer's Calling Now costs 3 Mana again.
- Dragoncaster Now costs 6 Mana again.
Accompanying this will be a change to Wyrm Weaver to a 4 Mana 3/5 statline with the Spellburst effect "Summon two 1/2 Mana Wyrms".
Quote from Alec DawsonWhen the 20.0 patch goes live later this month, there'll be a number of nerf reverts. This is before content unlock/rotation, so for a short period of time there will be a very interesting Standard meta. When considering reverts for 2021, we also considered future rotations. 1/4
Quote from Alec DawsonCould a card come back into Standard? We chose to softly revert those, as we'd like to avoid cards shifting between two costs or statlines each year. This will be the case for cards like Mana Wyrm or Flametongue Totem. They'll be back one day! 2/4
Quote from Alec DawsonAnother factor was looking at the level of positivity a revert brings to the Wild environment. Adding power to already strong archetypes wasn't high on our list so you won't see cards like Level Up being reverted this year. Want these reverts to enable you to play old decks. 3/4
Quote from Alec DawsonHere's a batch for today. DH gets none, so we'll do Druid, Hunter, and Mage. Full revert unless noted.
Druid:
Keeper of the Grove
Ancient of Lore (*editor's note, originally tweeted Ancient of War, but corrected to Lore later.)
Hunter:
Starving Buzzard
Flare
Dinotamer Brann
Hunter's Mark (costs 1)
Mage:
Mana Wyrm (1 mana, 1/2)
Conjurer's Calling
Dragoncaster
Quote from Alec DawsonAs part of this Wyrm Weaver moves down to a 4 mana, 3/5 and summons two 1/2 Mana Wyrms.
that card was not being played. maybe now it will
Eh, card's not seeing play because the current meta is so removal heavy (though honestly, it's not even bad).
But Mage I think has more of a need for good 4 drops than 5 drops.
I d rather face hunters than ressurects , but i apreciate you oppinion.would be so nice to keep it for yourself , tho .
That's a weird take considering you first give your own opinion XD. Pot calling the kettle black eh?

Makes sense... or something.
Oh nice. Maybe we can run kotg again instead of discovering him in a time of need
Nerfs? all I see here are buffs
Glad mana wyrm finally got the love he deserves. Back to a solid 1 drop AND he's not as broken now he only has 2 health. Hopefully Blizz is waking up and realizing it's not just mana changes cards need when nerfed. Effects and stats matter too. Especially in priest.
Buzzard being a 2 drop will be interesting. Hopefully it'll give hunter some much needed card draw love. Too bad poor pally still gets left in the dust with draw. Hopefully the new set helps.
Hunter, always Hunter. Hunter is playble on ladder since years now. Ofc this class need more love.
Better nerf Priest Blizzard, OP Class, Tier1.
Hunter is not being played in wild hardly at all, so yeah they actually do need help
Hunter is BY FAR the weakest class in Wild
Um, the only reason Hunter is here is because it's the second class alphabetically.
Tomorrow we'll get Paladin, Priest and Rogue.
Then Shaman, Warlock, Warrior.
Or... whatever. I'm really confused about the reveal schedule. Feels like something got delayed and this is their way of filling time.
Hunter is a super good & viable tier 1 class since years now in standard - the most important & popular format in the game
rip my pretty even reno hunter :/
Interesting point that they only want to do "soft" reverts on cards that may come back to Standard. Feels a bit weird, that some cards are only allowed to be as good as Standard would hypothetically require them to be, though I see the point that they don't want to possibly go back and forth between different versions every year.
I guess that's also what happened with Equality going to 3 mana instead of 2, and new Warsong Commander. And since he mentioned it, I expect Flametongue Totem will be a 2 mana 0/2 then.
Anyway, it's nice to see some cards going back to a more acceptable and interesting state. Especially Starving Buzzard feels like a brand new card at this point. But since I intend to play some Classic Mode anyway, I already know I will see a LOT of it soon enough.
Are you serious? Would they finally show something from the new card's as well? I think it shouldn't have been pre-ordered.:(
you can still preorder for a short time frame once they have shown every card. I would never preorder so early.
Yes I know, I didn’t regret buying them I am just disappointed. :D
They’re even announcing the nerfs in stages? Already waiting for card reveals, why couldn’t they just reveal all the nerfs at once? There’s no hype buildup for waiting to see what cards are reverted, so just seems pointless.
Hunter and Mage are gonna have a serious bump in their playrate, those are super high impact cards. Druid couldnt care less about these changes, Sadge.
