Rumble Run - Hearthside Chat: A Tussle of Trolls
A new Hearthside Chat is up featuring Hearthstone Mission Designer, Paul Nguyen. He's talking about Rumble Run, the new PVE mode releasing on December 13, and everything you need to know.
Quote from DaxxarriRastakhan’s Rumble has already begun for players around the world, but there’s someone else who will soon be battling for glory in Gurubashi Arena. Find out what happens when you step into the role of Rikkar, a fiery young troll hoping to earn glory in the Rumble!
Join Hearthstone Mission Designer Paul Nguyen as he delves into the new Rastakhan’s Rumble single-player content: Rumble Run!
Watch this Hearthside Chat to learn more about Rumble Run and watch some of the single-player only cards and Shrines in action!
When you start a Rumble Run, you’ll get to choose from one of three different team Shrines to start your run with. Each team (and therefore each Class!) has three different Shrines that can appear.
You’ll always choose from three different teams, but here’s a look all the Shrines that can appear for Hir’eek’s Bats:
You’ll be able to join Rikkar on his quest for glory starting December 13!
In the meanwhile, if you haven’t already claimed your Rastakhan’s Rumble log in bonuses, log into Hearthstone to claim 6 Rastakhan’s Rumble card packs, as well as a random Legendary Loa minion and 2 copies of the Spirit card for the same Class—FREE!
We’ll see you in the Tavern—and the Gurubashi Arena!
Dave Kosak had some more to say over on reddit.
Quote from Dave KosakSome of the shrines can be used aggressively, so there are ways that they can gain attack. It's a key strategy for a couple of the teams!
Shrines essentially replace the Dungeon Run passives, since all passive effects are associated with your shrine. Your final "treasure" choice is an upgrade to your shrine to make it more powerful (by allowing it to come back faster, for instance.)
Your other "Treasure" choices this time are minions - badass teammates that you can build a deck around. Each team has six possible teammates, you'll get to add two over the course of a run.
You are correct that you get the cardback for your first successful run!
But..... I still haven't crafted the sword of Quel'Delar ..... with over 100 completions, actively looking for sword pieces
I am so stoked for this!!
will come again tryharding :SeemsGood:
There are so many interesting cards in the Rumble Run, if they were properly costed/statted, they would be a wonderful addition to the Standard. Why did the devs decide to keep them exclusive to solo-content? Especially considering how many uninspired or awkward cards and reused mechanics there are in the actual set.
Just imagine having any of these instead of Griftah, Drakkari Trickster or Booty Bay Bookie: Bloodwash Medic, Bwonsamdi's Keeper, Fireslinger, Gloryseeker, Glyph Guardian, Ironhorn Drummer, Parrot Mascot, Ravenous Familiar, Showstopping Conjurer, Vile Necrodoctor, Zandalari Striker, Frostweaver, The Walking Fort, Blessed One.
Of course, most of them would need to have their cost increased by (quite) a bit. But they are interesting and could create whole new archetypes. I'd certainly prefer to have ANY of them instead of Griftah. But Blizz somehow decided to print a bunch of useless cards instead. Why?..
Check out all the cards:
The Devs team are so busy making 27 decks for Rumble run and forgot to play test Brann Bronzebeard+ Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk combo and Gonk, the Raptor OTK.
Cut them a break, Blizzard is a small indie company with limited resources.
i feel like this is just more of the same. i know there are many more starting decks than in dungeon run, and monster hunt. but it is still the same thing. i would just like some more outside the box thinking.
bliz ain't the same no more, they done thinking outside the box, now they be thinking inside ur wallet
I just with for ONCE we got a constructed PVE.
It's one thing I miss form older adventures. Sometimes I just wanna play the fun decks that aren't competitive on ladder but could be really strong on a boss or another.
So you can technically copy the shrines (like with Spirit of the Dead) and then have your board completely blocked?
Just started watching the video, but I must comment that I love that he is viet. Always pointing out fellow viets.
I just hope this time it has some rewards that actually reward you for doing things and not only a card back. Dont get me wrong im still gonna try it but rewards are always nice.
It is 100% going to be just a card back. They gave us 6 free packs on log-in though I'm not complaining
There are probably going to be pack quests for this, just like Dungeon Run and Monster Hunt.
You mean random dailies like we already have for dungeon and monster or special quests given on launch of Rumble run?
Yes.
This looks great. I still play Dungeon Run every so often, but definitely not Monster Hunt. As soon as I heard Monster Hunt was limited to four classes, I immediately had concerns, all of which proved to be true. Compare that to 27 different starting decks and abilities. My only concern here is the variety of opponents, although I imagine the opposing decks change depending on if you face the same class in the first battle or the eighth.
I also like that they're using this as an opportunity to test new mechanics like semi-permanents. I'm guessing the shrines resurrect ability can't be silenced, but probably because there's no silence cards available in this version. It would be cool to have build-around cards less powerful than Genn and Baku (or these shrines) that start in play rather than have an effect at the start of the game (or start in hand like quest).
Edgy.
Thx special snowflake ;)
