Got you
Holy crap, that's hilarious.
The only bad thing about this deck is that you would have to play some cheap spell for 6 or 10 mana in order to trigger your Mecha'thun :D
The issue is drawing lenses and not drawing patches
does skulking geist destroy the spell that you would set to 10 mana?
but you need to play the 10 mana secret
6 mana Noble Sacrifice is great tempo :D
but that 1 mana Sunkeeper Tarim is even better
Was thinking about Tarim also, but my point was that the new spell benefits only minions at most and not the spells, considering Pala's running most <3 mana spells :D
You actually don't need to run a deck of only high cost minions or only high cost spells for this card to be good. This card always offers a cost reduction that is equal to the cost increase of the more expensive card, so if you run it in a deck with high cost spells or minions then the other card that its cost gets swapped for becomes completely unplayable. The best use for this card is in a midrange or control paladin deck to get reduced expensive minions or spells, then slow the game down enough to play the more expensive card.
I played spiteful paladin and I don't see the point of using a 4 mana spell if you want the 8 drops from lay on hands/dinosize...
If I had Prince Liam Neeson, it would be cool to try out a deck where the only spells were secrets, especially with a deck tracker you could check what's in your deck and see if you have more big minions than small. Especially if you play this after turn 4, you could easily play that 1 mana Lich King or Tirion. And then you Prince Liam to turn your spells into good minions. Probably bad in practice but I want to try it!
It might not be a wise choice, the reason is that [[Prince Liam]] only transform 1-cost card in your deck! And your high cost secret won’t be changes into legendary minions.
I love the concept of Prismatic Lens, and it seems like a very cool card to experiment with, but I'm not sure how easily you'd be able to make a really strong deck with this combo. It seems unlikely that you'll be able to make a consistent deck that relies on a "cheap minion/expensive spell" or "cheap spell/expensive minions" design. Of the two, you'd probably always prefer the latter in Paladin, but the cheap spells are mostly secrets and buffs and probably won't do enough to defend you in the early game.
That said, there are some ways to try and get free value out of this - several people have suggested the dream combination of Happy Ghoul with any high cost spell, and Arcane Tyrant with a 5+ cost spell would also work decently well. I would be interested to know if this interacts favorably with cards like Mountain Giant or Dread Corsair (i.e. whether it swaps the base cost or the reduced cost - given the recent changes to copying enchanted cards, I would think it would be consistent to copy the reduced cost). If the cost-reduction cards work with Prismatic Lens, I could easily see it being a powerful tool in a midrange or control paladin deck.
But if you swap the cost of the Mountain Giant with a Spell that spell will become 12 Mana which means unplayable.
That's true if they swap the base costs, but if they swap the adjusted cost then you might end up with a discounted spell and a slightly more expensive giant which would subsequent re-reduce its cost to something playable. The video doesn't really shed light on this, and the wording is vague enough that it could mean either. Typically I would expect base costs to swap, but recently Blizzard changed how copying cards in your hand works (i.e. copying a buffed card maintains those enchantments). That could mean that swapping the reduced cost is the consistent/correct behavior here.
When something pretty expensive is turned cheap, some pretty big, unfair swings can happen. When something cheap is turned expensive, well, you just don't play it or wait till later. In other words, it's going to be a net positive. And you're drawing two cards anyway. Pretty cool stuff.
The concept is fresh for Hearthstone. I designed a similar card myself. Glad to see I inspire them without them ever knowing it :P
Idk about this card. This card can be a card that can always draw a 1 mana spell and switch it with like a bigger minion. But I’m never going to play an 8 mana secret.
I’m sorry, but y’all are missing the big picture. GOOD DRAW FOR PALADIN WOOOO
