Definition of MEH
Solid card, but it doesn't change the fact that control Paladin has no win condition. Won't see play until then.
There is a little problem with this card. It's not a mech =/
I feel like they forgot the tag...
But he's a human
No, he’s a Crystal Golem.
It's a sad day when forbidden healing is better than a legendary card (healing and value per card)
I know Crystalsmith Kangor is broken at 1 mana but I really wish it were a 1 mana or at least had 2 attack or even taunt to be a good standalone minion. The x2 healing is very overkill to be honest. I don't think you should play this in healadin deck, but you can play this in control deck (Uther heals 10 perswing SeemsGood). If you play this in the early game where you don't lose any HP, it is a 2 mana 1/2 divine shield - kinda bad. It is not a mech so you cannot use magnetic but have to buff it yourself, currently Paladin don't have 3 mana buff to go with this. With the x2 healing and lifesteal, I agree that you can reach max HP easily and outlasts all of aggro decks. However, after that this minion becomes 2 mana 1/2 divine shield which is very very bad against control deck. If you are playing healadin or controladin, you are very favoured against aggro deck already with a tons of removal, taunt and healing. The problem with control paladin in general is the lacking of win condition in the late game, not really about surviving. This is an okay card with a good potential that have an upper limit at 30 HP cap. Unless they release some sort of "healing synergy also works at full HP despite giving no health", healadin will never be a serious deck to be played and this card will sit in the back as 1 or 2 star.
As a person who have played nothing but Healadin with many variation in the current meta to reach legend, the problem with healadin is that when you reach maximum HP, the entire synergy becomes useless. And in order to make the synergy works, you gotta put a hell ton of weapon (to trade and keeping damage yourself when you opponent realize they should not go face) and ton of healing synergy card like Blackguard, Benevolent Djinn, Paragon of Light, The Glass Knight, Uther of the Ebon Blade (I am not that type of going full meme and play Holy Light so don't worry). Then you find out it takes up your removal slots to counter aggro which sometimes make you lose even though you are very favoured and can outlast them easily. Without the healing synergy with Blackguard for removal, they are decent but not good enough at competetive level. Against combo deck you pretty much lose because you rarely have enough face damage if you don't draw Blessing of Kings or get tempo soon and your healing does not help you against OTK. Against control deck, you have good chance but they don't face much either so you will find your self sit at 30 HP for a long while and rely on drawing your weapon to damage yourself and make the synergy works before they clear out your 6 mana 3/9 (which now does nothing beside being a 3/9) or Steeded minion. At the time you reach max HP, the healadin deck relies on minion stats and board presence (or tempo) very much for removal and pushing damage but getting to that point is very hard. My deck has Lynessa +x2 Steed x2 King, Tarim, Uther and the 8 mana sword as win condition but even they are not usually not enough against Big Spell Mage and Taunt Druid. In sort, Crystalsmith Kangor does not help Paladin to solve those problem at all
To be honest, I don’t think Healadin will ever be a viable deck, because of the fact you mentioned that once at full HP the deck becomes useless. That being said, Crystalsmith Kangor does help Control Paladin a bunch, so I still think it’s a good card
Agreed. It should be a 2/2. C'mon it's a legendary ffs. It's pretty mild as it is, I don't think giving it +1 attack would break the card.
Powercreeping one of the most powerful 2-drops in the game? Yeah, no thanks.
Paladin has been getting a bad run of legendaries lately. Cards that shouldn't have even been given legendary status in the first place. Like The Glass Knight.. could have very easily been an epic. The effect is way too crap to be a legendary.
Actually, come to think of it, the list of terrible Paladin legendaries is quite long... Lynessa, Bolvar Fireblood, Eadric, Ragnaros Lightlord, The Last Kaleidosaur. Hell, even Uther isn't that great. And now Kangor can be added to that list.
Whereas Rogue for example, gets epic cards that should have been given legendary status, see Academic Espionage. I mean, that thing only costs 4 Mana!
Paladin is a class with one of the strongest lists (if not the strongest) of Legendaries. Tirion, Wickerflame, Tarim, Uther (which IS a solid card), the new Kangor's Army... and this card quite good, what are you complaining about? It at least helps an archetype other than Aggro Paladin.
Ragnaros lightlord was in every non aggro paladin deck for 2 years, Bolvar fireblood was used as a 5 slot when needed, Eadric saw use as a tech card when old Handlock was still a thing and Uther Ebon Blade hit Tier 3 with an exodia deck.
Sorry but I must disagree would say Paladin is one of the classes that has the highest legendary quality. You barely see anything that bad compare to other classes. It is not like the card isn't good, it is because the architype of its isn't being supported enough. All are great and most are for control type but Paladin is very limited to aggro to mid range for some reasons. Control Pala almost never works after N'zoth went to wild because of lacking of a heavy win condition. Kangor is also great with a huge potential but the non aggro Paladin age isn't there yet. When it comes he will come out and beat out everyone. Just King him and you have a 5/6 divine shield that heals for 10 whenever he attack and the opponent must remove him with spell to stop you from healing which it is very good (until you reach HP cap). He just need a little more support I believe. Like Wickerflame, he used to be underplayed for a long while and was put in handbuff deck which didn't work either. It was not until KoF came out and he was played in more control type where he proves his usefulness
Although simple, I think this card is very good, it costs 2 mana, it's a 1/2 with divine shield. The double healing effect can be insane and basically you will "always" heal yourself for 4 health. I think it's not a card you need to build a deck around but definetely an auto-include in every control paladin deck.
Would have been good with the mech tag
Are they trying to bring back control paladin?
Imo, underrated. As it stands, everyone is probably right that Healadin would only make it to Tier 3 at its best, but this card is still incredible. 2 Mana 1/2 Divine shield, that divine shield is insane if you're trying to protect it from a moonfire, fireblast etc. and this is definitely a card that will get out of hand if left up. Keep in mind, Uther DK was practically made for this card, if not just some ridiculous impossible OTK, and Paragon of Light is an excellent card to put this behind, and it's not a horrible card either, and there is more synergy to this Healadin we've ignored in the past. Likely not enough to push a new Paladin deck, but I'm certain there will be a bit more from the devs pushing this archetype of theirs.
. This card being played by itself can be compared with Eternium Rover i guess?
I think its bad for now, but lets see the rest of stuff
