The Boomsday Project is Hearthstone's Next Expansion
The second Hearthstone expansion for Year of the Raven has been announced and five new cards have been revealed.
- The expansion launches on August 7!
- New Keyword: Magnetic - Played by themselves or can attach to a Mech minion to add on their health, attack, and ability.
- Projects are new spell cards with extremely powerful effects, but they help both players.
- Omega Project - These cards are normal, but have a Battlecry that works when you have 10 Mana Crystals.
- There will be legendary spells, such as one that draws your entire deck!
- We're getting a new Warlock Hero - MECHA JARAXXUS!
- Warriors are getting a new Dr. Boom as a Legendary playable hero (at least that's what it appears to be in the video).
- Logging in after the expansion launches gives you 3 card packs and a random legendary minion from the set.

Thst reveal video was cringely lame...
OK I'm a little worried about this expansion. Now I know some will say that this is GvG 2.0, but the part I'm worried about is about the keyword Magnetic.
Now I'm not saying this is a bad idea (the idea sounds interesting), but I'm worried because at this time there are only 7 Mechs that can be used in Standard. In other words, the keyword is mostly going to be good with minions based on just this expansion and has little synergy with the other expansions. To me that sounds like a bad idea, but on the plus side maybe Wild will be able to make better use of these cards.
Either way, I'm not as excited as I thought I was going to be.
5 cards have been revealed so far... Pretty confident this will have quite a few mechs.
Sure. But think about how many Beasts there have been. How many Demons? Murlocs? Dragons? Elementals?
My point... if they were planning a Mech expansion in the future, why didn't they add some more Mechs in the previous expansions ready for this expansion?
We don't have the same economy power. We can't convert this price directly. 190 BRL does not make the same impact on our wallet as it does on yours. For comparison purposes: 190 BRL to us is about 150 USD for you or higher, our acquistion power and our minimun wage is lower.
Well, that one was unexpected...
Thematically, I'm not too excited about the expansion. It feels like GvG2, only much more silly, and basing it on Dr. Boom because "remember that insanely overpowered card that was played in over 50% of all decks regardless of class and deck type for well over a year?" just feels wrong. Makes me scared we get an expansion about Patches in a year. I guess it's mostly the trailer and presentation that sort of rubbed me the wrong way.
That being said, I really like the ideas they have for new cards. I like the idea of adding more unique features to tribes, moving away from the ususal "give a mech +2/+2". Not sure if Magnetic has a future, even in Wild, but I guess they wouldn't add this without having something in mind. I also like the idea of strong symmetric effects that have more of a risk/reward dynamic to them. Most symmetric effects have not been too popular or successful in the past, but Biology Project is a very strong effect that's hard to ignore, and I'm curious to see what other classes can do. Omega cards sound cool as well, even though I'm not really flashed by Omega Defender (which is not a mech?). It's a nice way of making cards more dynamic. And actual legendary spells really need to get explored more.
All hail our lord and savor!!!
Mate - my advice is to prioritize spending on alcohol. Alcohol actually exists (though I guess you are just renting it when you drink it).
Microwaves are good too :)
Yeah I'm a bit sad about the pricing too. I don't really buy video games but I could justify the purchase if it was more along the pricing line of an average AAA game. But packs are just so expensive :c
Gosh darn it, I've only seen a few cards and already blew my months spending money on this D: now I gotta live off cheap microwave noodles the rest of the month
the fact that mecha jaraxxus is exclusive to the mega bundle is retarded. fuck this childrens card game
^
OMECHALUL
We were so close to getting a Hearthstone version of this:
I sincerely hope that a bunch of new deck types and styles become relevant and viable with this expansion. This meta has been pretty decent tbh, but I hope we can experience even more diversity. I hope that Rogue and Warrior get beefed up, and even though Druid is in a good place, I’d like that class to get some useful legendaries this expansion, or st least ones that can go with the ones from this expansion.
Mom sure a lot of people are sick of warlock, but it’s really a fun class as long as they don’t make it way OP.
A little trick. Buy through battle net shop but change the EU.battle.net address to US.battle.net and you can buy for USD. Just did that
Myra's Unstable Element? Can't believe they nerfed Yogg-Saron, Hope's End again...
Was thinking about getting the mega bundle for my NA/EU/Asia accounts. That's £210.
Hmm,I think I'll just stay f2p and scrape by - at least I can blame my performance on that rather than my lack of skill :)
it is to soon to be redoing the mech theme, i realize that it has been like 8 expansions, but still, there has to be some better theme for a expansion. i am not saying this is bad, but it has been done before, and i like having mechs something to look back to, not forward to.
dont get me wrong, this expansion could be fun, but it also could have been more creative. like maybe doing a pandarian themed expansion might be fun. and then we could meet the friends lorewalker cho keeps talking about.
