The Boomsday Project is Hearthstone's Next Expansion
The second Hearthstone expansion for Year of the Raven has been announced and five new cards have been revealed.
- The expansion launches on August 7!
- New Keyword: Magnetic - Played by themselves or can attach to a Mech minion to add on their health, attack, and ability.
- Projects are new spell cards with extremely powerful effects, but they help both players.
- Omega Project - These cards are normal, but have a Battlecry that works when you have 10 Mana Crystals.
- There will be legendary spells, such as one that draws your entire deck!
- We're getting a new Warlock Hero - MECHA JARAXXUS!
- Warriors are getting a new Dr. Boom as a Legendary playable hero (at least that's what it appears to be in the video).

You can buy it until the day of release or the day before I think.
Coming from someone who was a long term fan of WoW (a much more popular Blizzard game than Hearthstone) I would disagree. In WoW you had large amounts of cosmetics and collectibles you could acquire for free, at least in terms of not having to pay real money for them in the cash shop. It didn't matter if you were super casual or hardcore try hard collector, you could acquire mounts, titles, gear, transmog, pets, fun items, etc for all sorts of players and time/effort spent.
Guess Hearthstone decided not to follow the formula for their company's more popular game.
Hearthstone does reward time and effort spent into it. Average over 7 wins in Arena and the game gives you more gold than it took to get in along with some other bits. Both games are free to play up until a point and sacrifices have to be made for both. It takes you much longer to acquire the rarer cards if you don't pay for packs, meaning you have less experience using them. In WoW you are free to play as much as you want, just so long as you don't mind being stuck at level 20, being unable to have more than 10 gold, play any of the new content that comes out in future expansions or be able to really play any of the higher zones outside the starting ones.
mmm...
I don't get how Blizzard can get away with hiding cosmetic content behind that tall of a paywall. The game's player base is so LARGE that Blizzard gets subsidized by the government for any content they make available for free since it qualifies as charity.
Skins are Really important to F2P community as it allows them to keep up with the P2W and incentives new players to try the game in order to acquire them. Just seems like a terrible marketing decision on Blizzards behalf to continue killing of their player base and driving away new players.
I don't share your compulsive desire to collect every little non function thing a game has to offer. IMO cosmetics belong behind pay walls. Just keep the game play effecting stuff accessible.
Well if its Boomsday ... and there are Mechs ... that means we better see a "Boomsday Machine" card (a play on the Doomsday Machine one of the greatest Star Trek episodes ever) .
Do you hear me Blizzard ... Boomsday Machine!!!
=D13=
Ummm.. yea dude the whole thing is a play on the word doomsday.
Did that just go over your head or what?
Meanwhile, I have been playing since Pre-Naxx and can play quite compeititively f2p. Arena is the key to success, friend. The sad thing is, arena is...well kind of a shit show right now.
Dude it's not a card! It's a new hero for the warlock class, like Magni Bronzebeard for warrior. Just emots and a portrait.
Haven’t read the comments, so is this saying that everyone will get a legendary and the packs for logging in, then the preorders get an additional golden legendary as well?
That is a subjective quality and not a fact. Some people prefer actual physical cards like MtG and some prefer the always available digital cards like HS.
It is just an opinion. One is not better than the other.
Personally I prefer physical cards and spend way more on those than digital but it is just my personal preference.
Yea but it's not that easy to get enough gold to get a significant amount of packs, the game is designed to be harder for f2p players. I know you get gold/dust for playing the game but it's typically not enough. Just saying, I didn't downvote your other post. People disagree with you, playing the game f2p is brutal if you wish to play competitively. Personally, I like constructed for the first month or two after the release of a new expansion, but after that I just enjoy arena, and then stop playing the game until the next expansion, at least for the most part. Plus, I already bought the 80$ preorder :) not buying the 50$ one too though, it's a good buy, but only for someone that is a really avid constructed player. I have enough dust and gold to get all the cards I need, just needed JARAXXUS.
Also, to be picky you don't get gold/dust just for playing the game, you get it for consistently *winning* games. Something which is considerably harder the more f2p and the newer you are.
I have learned a long time ago that people as a group (not individuals) will always have something to complain about :)
So far the powerlevel seems through the roof. Some of the cards are clearly op - shame since the Witchwood's overall lower powerlevel turned out to be quite good for the game (with a few exceptions).
