Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.

Shudderwock itself is fine (Minus the animation times.) One of the amazing battlecries needs to get nerfed instead. My opinion: Nerf Grumble enables the OTK by bouncing back the Shudderwock copies. Kill Grumble, you kill the OTKs, and Shudderwock still remains a really good and fun (but fair) card.

I think due to no Disscard/Interupt mechanics, hearthstone has design wise no space for combo decks. To clarify i dont think Shudderwock is OP or even good. The problem is those decks are unfun to play against.
Its solitaire by the opponent and you can only interact by face rushing him down while he is healing, drawing cards hoping to find the combo.
For me its either include more cards like dirty rat/discard to the game or nerfkill any combo deck thats possible, no matter the winrate including Cubelock,questmage,otk priest...etc.
Not because theyre op but unfun to play against this game is meant to be a board trading game after all, OTK decks have been nerfed in the futrure prior to the argument that theyre unfun to play against: Raza Priest, Quest Rogue, Freeze Mage just for example all with not tier 1 winrate but because theyre unfun to play against and this argument goes for Shudderwock deck the way it is.
Just change it so animations don't play and all the stuff just hits board immediately, or something like that
It's not the OTK that's an issue, it's the animation delay.
Let's be clear. The deck isn't broken. Watching 10 minutes of animations is broken. The deck has less than 50% WR and gets REKT by aggro. Watching Pally decks with a 70%+ WR and Cube lock with endless taunts, cheating huge cards on the board for free, and healing from single digits back to 30....those things are broken.
Agreed, this deck isnt broken at all.. Almost any type of nerf to this archetype would deem shaman as useless as its been for about a year now.

he says 100% winrate about everydeck. it was day 1 and people were trying all kinds of slow clown fiesta decks for him to farm. the deck isn't anywhere near as strong as quest mage or quest rogue in their prime. as long as you're not playing something 100% reactive you should be able to win. which is very healthy for the meta to have decks that counter decks that do nothing but sit back and board clear, play taunts, heal, armor
Totally agree with this. I haven't even crafted the card yet and I will be deeply disappointed if Team 5 nerfs it. The game is supposed to have strong cards. A turn 9 game-ending card that requires heaps of setup is absolutely fine.
I think the easiest fix would be if the next shudderwock wouldn't replay all battlecries of the previous ones but only the ones from other cards!
shudderwock doesn't stack. shutterwock ignores shutterwocks battlecry.
That's not true. It doesn't show the Shudderwock Battlecry explicitly, but it still plays all of the battlecries which the earlier wock played

I hate the idea of nerfing Grumble, Worldshaker or Shudderwock. Powerful cards are supposed to exist. There is nothing oppressive about those cards. Shaman has been in the toilet for almost a year now, they print a few nice cards for the class and people want it nerfed. Give me a break.
If they want to kill the OTK combo, couldn't they just change the text on Saronite Chain Gang to "summon a copy of this Saronite Chain Gang"? That way you can't go infinite and bounce unlimited copies of Shudderwock back to your hand. Instead, you'll get copies of Saronite Chain Gang. I'd be fine with that, just don't touch the class cards.
But really, just fix the animations and I don't think there will be any problem.
