Dean Ayala on Shudderwock: Revisiting the Topic Early Next Week
Dean Ayala tweeted this evening that the team is going to be looking into Shudderwock feedback early next week.
How do you feel about Shudderwock? I can definitely agree with the animations being a bit on the long side and would definitely at least appreciate a less excruciating death.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe’ll be reading more feedback over the weekend and will revisit the Shudderwock topic early next week. Checking out both animation timings and feedback on the deck playstyle itself. Let us know what you think and enjoy Witchwood!
same, it's literally imprinted, it makes me *shudder*
Before they nerf Shudderwock, they should nerf Naga Sea Witch. I think that this is far more important than this.
But what needs to be fixed ASAP are the animation-times; it simply takes too long!
The only big problem is the huge animation time. The deck isn't that good because is really destroyed by aggro, but wins against control most of the time, so the infinite value generation is kinda the second problem, I think Saronite Chain Gang, will take the nerf bullet making another Saronite, instead of making a copy, wich won't be a direct nerf to other things, besides Shudderwock, so no dust refund
I think that's the main thing they might change: Doppelganster and Saronite Chain Gang should create a copy of Saronite Chain Gang or Doppelgangster with the same stats and Buffs (Val'anyr) instead of another Creature.
This would not nerf Shudderwock, but it would nerf the interaction with this particular minions. I think the fast reaction to this card might be because blizzard itself didn't thought of this interaction (or it was never intended)
But in the end the question is if it's even necessary right now after they fixed the animation times.
Shudderwock itself doesn't need to be nerfed. Best change probably is Saronite Chain Gang and Doppelgangster type cards should read, "Summon a copy of Saronite Chain Gang" etc. instead of "copy this minion".
It does hurt handbuff cards though, even though most are on the wild right now.
The whole point of those cards were to be used with handbuffs even if that didn't work out so well
Nerf it? But why? A RNG-less Yogg-Saron must have seemed like a great idea in the devs office!
Shudderwock Is a very good legendary for Shaman, when was the last time when we got a good Shaman deck? You are all complaining like little kids on a card that's so late game and needs so much preparation before playing, 50% of the people that say that Shudderwock needs nerf are people that have a Cubelock, wich BTW everybody was pissed off when queued against it, BUT people adapted decks as always.
I think that the main issue is simply the animation-times, not the card itself. And maybe some interactions with copy minion-effects, but right now i don't think that's really an issue.
The main thing is that aggro destroys this deck; and blizzard has the exact numbers. If the winrate against control is too high it will get somehow nerfed. But Shudderwock itself does not need a nerf, the main issue is the interaction with Doppelgangster and Saronite Chain Gang.
The deck isn't a ridiculous deck where it's winning every time. I watched Kripp stream it yesterday and he had a 52% win rate. It gets utterly destroyed by aggro decks.
I don't think is a broken card or deck right now if we check the WR%
What it's annoying and should be fixed is that 10 min turn. You feel like you are winning (or losing) because of a bug.
It seems too early to be saying whether the balance of the card/ deck is ok or not (it's a pretty complicated deck to play correctly after all and people will take time to learn it) but as a card it absolutely needs looking at. Not just for the animation times which are undeniably ridiculous but also (at least in my opinion) this is another one of those cards that's going to limit the new cards they can add for the next 2 years.
We're going to have 5 expansions where they're terrified to make any particularly good shaman or, more importantly, neutral battlecries. I was really hoping they'd learned their lesson with N'Zoth and how careful they had to be with that card and new deathrattle minions but I guess not.
So here I am, typing some comments on a Shudderwock post (A few comments below here).
Step 2: Complete my daily quest while watching toast kick ass with Shudderwock.
Step 3: Buy a pack thinking 'wouldn't it be fun if I got Shudderwock now'
Step 4: Get fucking Shudderwock in my pack. I'm fucking done for today, gonna buy a lottery ticket.
Edit: Seems like Hearthpwn doesn't like uploading images today. Here's the link. https://ibb.co/bCyR2S
When something is so unlikely to happen that nobody believes you and downvotes. : )
welcome back sham
Seriously your complaing about a deck with a 35% win rate at legend while Odd Pally has a 69% winrate, You want to nerf something nerf the all i do is hit my hero power the whole freaking game clases like hunter and pally that TAKE 0 Skill to play and leave the complex combo deck alone. Its one of the few things that crushes cube lock and its a combo deck that keeps control decks having a bad matchup. Its just popular right now and the anmation is horrible. I still think they should make the card work correctly and do the battle cries in order If you think these decks are OP go pay 5 dollars to get heart states and look at the winrate of these things when played by good players against good players.
Odd paladin is cheap as fuck so most people probably have all required cards + the deck is very easy to play.
Shudderwock is near useless without the proper support cards, and most players probably can't craft all of them right after release.
In other words, comparing winrates on day 3 makes absolutely no sense. Lets revisit this topic in a few weeks.
Make Shudderwock cost 10 mana?
That way you can't Murmuring Elemental it on the same turn without a second round of Fire Plume Harbinger.
I haven't seen a lot of the decklists, but ones I have seen only ran one of each.
Having to add an extra removes another beneficial card.
The second route could slow the shaman down a little. Sure, more Battlecry triggers, but delaying helps an opponent fight the deck.
