It becomes Millhouse Manastorm :D
It doesn't say minion it says CARD. Meaning it could be a spell/deathknight/ minion/quest/etc. Meaning you can get some real power out of this or honestly it can just be that curve card you need to keep the aggro decks at bay for another turn.
Yeah I said minion, suppose it should be card but you get the gist of it.
OK. This card is amazing, everyone seems to agree so I'm just going to highlight some of it's drawbacks.
It's a permanent information scout for as long as you have it in hand! However let's remember it won't cycle through every card in your opponents hand, it's random. You can have it for 10 turns and just see the same 3-4 cards over and over. You can't ever really be sure of what cards they don't have in hand with this card so while you can get information of what to play around you won't ever be able to play into big AOE's just because you have this card in hand!
Additionally we are losing Drakonid Operative so getting multiple card from your opponents deck and pulling off combos will be really hard, so I can't really see an obvious list to put this card into and while I'm sure it'll be a powerful addition to many it won't really be deck defining. Especially since if there's a really important card you want Chameleos to morph into and play, it probably won't happen sice your opponent can just play around that by playing the important card on curve.
It is however a very good counter to Rin, the First Disciple, and quite possibly some other cards as well that I haven't thought about.
Summary: Chameleos is good for information gathering but it won't be as consistent as you might think, both in terms of the information you gather, and how useful that information will be heavily depends on the meta. And it'll likely be very hard to be able to actually play important cards since your opponent can play around it. (Still if they do have to play around the card that could be useful as well.)
It all depends on the meta.
Yeah good call there this card could let your scoop warlocks on the rin destroy your opponents deck. If you get to play it first That means your oppoent can't play thier own Azari as they can't risk taking 10 or more damage to the face for free. Really can buy you time in these situations.
Holy smokes, copying Azari with this would be so nuts. However chances are small (usually when warlocks do seals their hand is full) so it's basically 10% chance however you can also discover seal over multiple turns so you have like 3-4 chances (maybe more if you pressure opponent so he must react to that and stop seals) to discover it. However let's be honest, you won't destroy much of warlock deck as those relying on Rin draw a lot of cards. But still it can destroy some cards.
The main benifit i see is that, you slow them down from playing azari. Odds are if you chameleus catch any of the rin cards you'll auto be 1 turn ahead of them on azari. Once you play azari first, that turn your opponent can't waste time azari, as it'll mean he'll take 10 damage to the face, and priest has such easy ways of removing standing 10/10s that the warlock can't just risk drop his 10/10 just to get killed while taking 10 damage to the face. So he clears your azari with what??? siphon soul, then plays some 4 mana garbage??? now your on a 10 mana turn just facing 4 mana garbage. Why not play 10 mana worth of threat to again stall your opponents azari. This kind of assume alittle bit of an empty board. As if both palyers are racing out azari both will likely have pretty light boards.
I dont care if its played or not. I just fckin love the idea. By far the best card so far. Can be trash or just a game changer.
Great job designing this.
such a cool and interesting mechanic, the boys at HQ are outdoing themselves this time round but i dont think it'll quite cut it!
This card is amazing and I love its little face.
can hunter get this through ara/stampede/rng beast shenanigans?
This is cool and all but I'm more interested in mage legendaries. If they're on par with the warrior and hunter legendaries I'm probably not gonna main mage for the first time since I started playing -.- priest is getting all of the cool cards.
this is a Mind Vision, every single turn that you don't play it, geez, this will make me be salty a lot of times, it's probably the most valuable card of the expansion, if a control priest plays it.
I love cards like this. It's very interesting how this card provides information on the opponent and it will be interesting to see how this card works out after play testing!
Wish Dirty Rat was still in Standard for this card. It would be like a Spotter and a Sniper. Chameleos gets the target card in his sights in the opponents hand and then Dirty Rat could *hopefully* snipe it!
But if you get unlucky and it's actually transformed into spell that turn you cannot pull it with Dirty Rat ;)
yeah... you gotta admit though dirty rattin the Amara, Warden of Hope out of quest priest hand is hilarious... now you just get to play amara
Why wasn't this a neutral card?
because of Shifter Zerus, only a class card can be better than a neutral (when we talk about do the same effect or make the same or even better impact on board) , or it would be power creep, and i know blizzard did it in the past, but the idea is not keep that desing line
Thematically, it makes a lot more sense to be in Priest because they have a lot of steal themed cards such as Mind Vision, Thoughtsteal, Devour Mind, Drakonid Operative, and Mindgames.
Also, its effect is really strong as it allows you to know what cards are in your opponent's hand, even if it's relayed only once per turn. And if you know your opponent has, say, Fireball, you'll know it's not a good idea to play anything which would die to it.
Shifter Zerus is a different, albeit similar, effect. So that's no reason
