backstab + dagger = 2 mana
more value
Even with the auctioneer to cycle the coin this looks like a restrictive Hammer of Wrath, which is a removal and draw card in a class whose class identity includes neither of those things (as compared to rogue which is designed to be really good at both).
I am hoping there is something else in this set to make good use of coins.
I think this couldve easily been 3 mana, at 4 it seems tough to find a minion it could kill at that point in the game. Seems pretty bad.
So is it tough to find a minion to kill at 4 with Flanking Strike? No it's not. ;)
Also you can add Backstab, Prep and whatnot as catalysts. This spell is just a very consistent removal that doesn't cost you a card.
Well, it sure works great with Prep and Backstabs on Gadgetzan turns.
This is the rogue equivalent of hunter's Flanking Strike. Miracle rogue doesn't mind spending a turn like this to set up a coin play, especially on turn 4. Current meta I see a lot of applicable uses.
Counterfeit Coin is leaving and they are giving this? which is Epic, and Counterfeit Coin is Rare and probably better
How can you say that Counterfeit Coin is better than this card?
The new one has infinite more value.
It’s a 3 mana deal 3 on a minion that can’t be use on turn 3. Seem quite weak to me.
Where you guys read the flavor text?
Okay...best scenario of this card is a 0 mana deal 3 damage to a minion (if it dies) by using 3 cards. Technically, that doesn't seem so bad in a Miracle deck type, but again, Blizzard failed us cause they thought there will always be a Preparation waiting there in your hand every time for every spell in every situation for you to use. Not to mention, they were nonstop crying about Miracle being too popular in Rogue general playstyle and yet they continue to make more Miracle supports
And don't forget how they attempted to kill other Rogue archetypes (tempo, mill) earlier haha.
Not mentioning the burgling archetype, which never achieved anything really ;)
I mean, the burgling archetype could be something fun to play if only it has something stronger to add more to it (like what Ethereal Peddler did). And at some point Blizzard actually did not surprise me, Rogue has always had the bad epic cards in every other expansions. What I really want now is a decent 1 drop for rogue since both Swashburglar and Bladed Cultist are going away
Rogue always gets overpriced spells because they have Preparation
They probably balanced this around going Gadgetzan Auctioneer + Preparation + WANTED! + The Coin into some other shenanigans.
It kinda sucks, but sometimes I wish some staple rogue cards got rotated to HoF just so they would start printing good playable stuff to this class
It is even more situational to be Gadgetzan preparation combo because the dmg is only to minions and u need to kill a minion to get the coin . I believe the best scenario for this card is to clear an early game minion so u can cycle later on with the coin
So, worst than just having counterfeit coin, and worst than Tomb Pillager. Still, I was hoping for a new way for Miracle rogue to get a coin, and I think it's decent enough. Miracle rogue will never die <3
It's certainly not worse than Counterfeit Coin when you have those dead draws of x2 Prep, x2 Counterfeit Coin in the top 10 cards. Proactively managing the board is a tremendous upside for the cardslot. The question is whether gating the coin itself behind these requirements will be a manageable goal.
It seems to be better in matchups that Miracle usually struggles with and worse in matchups they are targeting. So itll be really interesting to see if it actually finds a home or not.
Yeah actually thinking about it, what you say about matchups is true. And you are always happy when you play prep+eviscerate with auctionneer right ? So with 8 mana, you can go Auctionneer + prep + wanted + coin + 2-mana spell. Looks like a turn I'd be happy about.
The main problem is that Against more controlish decks it can be hard to actually have a target to kill (maybe ?). And the Counterfeit Coin was good to enable your si:7, vilespine, Elven, or even early big van cleef, without having to spend mana in order to get that coin. Overall I still think this is a bit worse because it's harder to get your combos going... And yeah against aggro it's cool but are you really happy to spend 4 mana in order to kill only one small minion ? Will dépends on how will the aggro decks be.
But at 8 mana with Auctionneer I love it, kind of 2 spells in one. And the 4 mana slot is only for Faldorei so it's ok curve-wise.
