Most Badass Card Art for Each Class in Kobolds & Catacombs
Whenever a new expansion comes out, there is inevitably a lot of discussion about which cards are best. This is not that. Instead, this is a round up of the most badass card art featured on the new cards of the latest expansion, Kobolds and Catacombs.
Featured below, we’ve chosen one card from each class (including neutral) that has the most badass card art. Check ‘em out and make sure to let us know in the comments which card has your favorite art this time around!
Druid - Astral Tiger
Flavor Text: Astral kitty litter is surprisingly hard to find.
I'd hate to be the one changing that litter box. Astral or not, the fangs and claws on this feline are enough to scare away even the heartiest adventurer.
Hunter - Crushing Walls
Flavor Text: "It could be worse!" "It's worse."
Looks like she’s got everything under control to me! The golden animation on this card makes it even more badass, showing the crushing walls in motion, with a light shining behind the adventurers.
Mage - Dragoncaller Alanna
Flavor Text: Her secret is using a gentle voice and carrying a baggie of hotdogs.
Seems legit. However she does it, she's pretty badass. With this card, we've got another amazing golden animation. This one shows the fire in Alanna's hands in motion and the dragon slowly appearing behind her. Sometimes the golden animation is pretty simple, just showing an element of the art in motion, but other times — like this — it's something really special. This is one card that I'd be thrilled to have the golden version of.
Paladin - Lynessa Sunsorrow
Flavor Text: A diet of pure magic is great for the complexion but wreaks havoc on one's mood.
Turns out it's also great for the intimidation factor. I don't know about you guys, but I think she'd make a worthy addition to any party.
Priest - Psychic Scream
Flavor Text: Everybody! Hit the deck!
Looks like these guys have had better days. The ghostly skulls attacking them in the art are a nice touch, and the golden version shows the piercing scream in action.
Rogue - Evasion
Flavor Text: Works on weapons, missiles, and taxes.
This art is seriously cool already, but it's the golden version that puts it over the top. The invisibility cloak gets an added animation so that it blends in perfectly with the surroundings.
Shaman - Grumble, Worldshaker
Flavor Text: The grumbling grew to a mighty rumbling, and out of the caverns the kobolds came tumbling.
Any sane person would seek cover if they saw this creature approaching. And hey, if you can look badass while covered in pink crystals, you've pretty much got it made.
Warlock - Hooked Reaver
Flavor Text: The hook is just an accessory. He can reave just fine without it.
Going off the flavor text, remind me not to get on this guy's bad side.
Warrior - Reckless Flurry
Flavor Text: Look. Cautious Flurries will only get you so far in life.
That is one angry kobold. This card art proves you shouldn't underestimate the little guy. As a bonus, the shockwave in the golden card animation takes the art up another level.
Neutral - The Darkness
Flavor Text: I would rather light a single candle than curse the darkness. But I'm willing to do both.
Yikes. This card also wins the award for "Creature I'd Least Like to Meet Down a Dark Alley. (Or Anywhere Really.)"
What's some of your favorite card art from Kobolds and Catacombs? Tell us in the comments below.
Golden Cheat Death is pretty cool!
The single best golden animation in the set is cataclysm. Falling fireballs from sky!
I personally like Level Up! a lot golden, biased by having it myself ofcourse.
Am I seeing it correctly? The kobold's candle has fire in the golden version of Reckless Flurry, however on the original paint the candle is without it???
Sharp eye, sir!
I was actually lucky enough to open a golden The Darkness, but I'm a little afraid I'll never see him in any of my competitive decks.
I see what you did there mate.
An entire article on artwork and not a single mention of any of the artists?
Agreed, I’d love to see the artists credited!
To be fair you can easily find that in your collection in game and even on the card pages here if you or someone else wanted that info.
Well, you can go to the card page and see name of the artist there.
I personally prefer Azari, the Devourer.
I have got a golden grumble and he looks really cool but I don't know what to do with him
Wut i was sure Great Pearl Spellstone Token is in that List... guess not many have seen a GoldenGuardian Spirit
I opened three of those damn things golden lol
As tough as Psychic Scream is, I think Priest's best is Temporus.
Also, this is the first time I'm seeing a golden Reckless Flurry and WOW, just WOW they went all out for that one. Evasion is pretty sick too. Another user below also showed Crushing Hand which is stellar as well.
They really did a great job with golden animation this set, as well as in-game animation. Well done!
I think of all the Gold cards in the game Dragoncaller Alanna has to be the best that is just so pleasing to the eye
So much cool artwork in this expansion. I particularly like Wondrous Wand and Magic Mirror:
Crushing Hand animation is kinda cool.
