The BlizzCon 2017 Live Q&A has now concluded. Below you will find our recap which includes summarized answers from the Q&A portion of the panel and the nine new cards being added to the arena for a limited time. Be sure to join us on the forums to talk about the new arena cards. We've also got screenshots of the panel if that's your thing!
Present during this panel were Hearthstone's Ben Brode, Mike Donais, Peter Whalen ,and Yong Woo.
Quote from HearthPwnArena Cards
- The Dev Team has 27 cards for us to look at and vote on for inclusion in the arena.
- There are 3 cards per class with 1 card per class being added to the arena.
- The arena event will be a temporary thing, not permanent.
- The cards are not collectible.
Player Stats
- Doing player stats is something they want to do and recently they've been building infrastructure for it.
Druids
- They definitely want to add another Druid hero to the game.
- Finding the right hero to contrast with Malfurion is important. They liked how Nemsy was very different than Gul'dan.
- Druid and Ultimate Infestation are being watched. Statistically speaking though it's not a huge swing card, it just feels that way emotionally.
Random Card Backs
- They've been talking about card back randomization.
- The card back has been painted for the option, they just need to write the code.
Dungeon Runs
- Dungeon Runs should be fun for a long time due to all the different permutations available.
- They should learn a lot from Dungeon runs in how players consume that type of content.
- They've considered releasing more bosses to runs mid-expansion, but nothing concrete yet.
- They don't want to force people to play Dungeon Runs so there aren't any rewards.
- The only reward for Dungeon Runs is the card back for defeating the run with all 9 classes.
Fireside Gatherings
- Fireside Gatherings could be used to build a different type of drafting for arena.
- The Lich King event at Gamescom and Fireside Gatherings was really popular. They will definitely do similar stuff in the future.
Misc
- Morgl may be 10001 years old.
- They may rotate more cards to the Hall of Fame during the next Standard year. No announcements yet.
- Titan's Grip is Mike's favourite card that wasn't added to the game. He won't tell us what it does.
- In World of Warcraft, Titan's Grip allows a Warrior to dual-wield weapons.
- Peter keeps successfully denying the card in each set.
- Destroy a 4 attack minion is Ben's favourite Priest fantasy.
- They would like to add a replay feature at some point.
Winning Arena Cards
These cards will be added to the arena in a future patch. We've got a dedicated discussion thread up on our Arena Forums.

Any gameplay is better than no gameplay ;p
I'd argue that brawl is worse due to the very weird mechanics that take place. It's ultimately not about the exact cards though and rather the ideas behind them. Seeing how players make use of the cards is interesting.
Demons are mostly garbage, combust would be much better.
About crackling doom? It will be fun to play against. Oh wait,.... not.
Combust doesn't really make much sense given the abundance of removal Warlock already has, even in arena. Demons might be garbage, but the ability to reload your hand for free (in the event of it being horrible) sounds pretty interesting
No idea why people chose bottled madness. It looks like the least interesting and least playable of the three. Combust is an insane removal card and From Beyond is a really interesting card to help you dig through your deck.
Why are Preists such jerks??
They steal from their opponents, silence their own minions, and now they straight up give them up for other cards and call it friendly name like "purify" and now "Generous Spirit".
If I play WoW, I will make sure my character is an atheist.
going to be hard in a world where literal gods control the fate of mankind
I love the Mcree reference for hunter. It was subtle when they gave Rexxar the cowboy costume for gallows end but this such a reference to the fact that they both share the same voice actor! Good stuff!
not to disappoint you, but "Deadeye" is a very common term for snipers or expert marksmen. The cowboy costume however might be a reference
Mindspike Rogue weapon not to be confused with Mind Spike.
i honestly feel like this is a poor move actually. Entrusting a bunch of randies who happened to have bought a ticket to Blizzcon in voting for a bunch of cards that might have a huge impact on the game.
Also, how come they can make actual good Hunter cards like Deadeye fro Arena, but in Constructed they only get garbage?
Yeah, feels kinda weird. What percentage of the voters does play Hearthstone, and what percentage of them plays Arena at a 'serious' level. I haven't took the time to really analyse which card I would pick, which is another issue: looking at the pics from the room it looks pretty much like these people are asked to choose almost instantly.
However, I think it's really cool that Blizzard is putting effort in the Arena. Maybe next time let every Battle.net account vote? : )
Deadeye has already been made in constructed as a monster, it got in wild now, they will probably bring back a similar effect in later expansion
Those picks seems really pre-controlled, they printed an interesting card, that they want to add to arena, and printed two other lame ones, to make the community feel like they had a choice over it.
revive second minion with full HP?
Yes. Looks nice
Frost Lich Jaina wasnt in enough decks, gotta help those unlucky mages :)Got schooled! Haha, was too excited :)
Excited for warrior
