Deathlord is better
This card's insane and reading these comments is just proof that most of you are damaged in the brain. I would bet every dime in my bank account that every one of these people just copy the flavor of the week decks off hearthpwn and haven't actually innovated anything in their life.
Honestly, I can't agree more. Deathlord was a pretty powerful and used card, so I think this card will see play.
People saying that this is basically a 6 cost card are ignoring the fact that shaman has had ways to cheat the overload mechanic for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if they get another one. The high health on this card is important because it makes it likely that it will survive until turn 5 and protect all of your tokens until you can play deathseer and double evolve your entire board. Saying that a card is garbage just because it's not better than tar creeper is a bit unfair. Tar creeper is the best neutral anti-agro card ever printed. Blizzard doesn't have to justify new cards by powercreeping.
The problem is that Shaman only has 1 overload reduction card, which happens to cost 2 mana. Play this on curve (for turn 3), and you cannot play Eternal Sentinel the next turn.
Another slow day :(
Sad
I remember wishing for more trolls in Hearthstone. Seems like this expansion has forfilled my wish. :D
Was the entire point of this expansion to buff Cabal Shadow Priest? Because it seems like 2 attack or less minions are all over this expansion.
I've pulled up Hearthpwn several times today, hoping to see some new cards. Each time I see Drakkari Defender with his insane grin and steep overload... I feel like he's taunting me!
This card is horrible. Whole point of overload is to generate tempo. Summoning a 2 attack minion defeats that purpose.
It's 2/8 with taunt. thats 8 damage not to your face against an aggro deck.
Against aggro though, it would be ok to skip turn 4 more than most other turns for the value that this card provides. Against pirate warrior, the only card that they have to play on turn 4(usually) is mortal strike, with they would never play on turn 4. It forces them to fuck up their curve, all the while protecting your life total a lot. If you had to skip turn 3, it would be different, because that's the usual turn where they play a captain, a berserker, or a two drop + upgrade. They will usually want to ram two charges of a fiery war axe into this then trade a board.
Shaman is aggro
OK and Feral Spirit is prevent 6 damage to your face, have 2 more damage split across an extra minion to trade with, more synergy with flametongue totem, and still have 2 mana left over to spend on your next turn vs. an aggro deck.
So, Mogu'shan Warden is a 4 mana 1/7 with taunt. +1/+1 should make it a 5 mana cost minion-> 5 Mana 2/8 taunt.
So I think Drakkari Defender should cost one less or just have Overload(2).
**WILD** This is a turn 5 play with lava shock for added removal, after a turn 3 feral spirit. Even without the lava shock still 3 mana on turn 6, which shaman has plenty to chooses from. This lets shaman slow a game down pretty quick
Add in a freeze package... Tasty!
The overload is overpriced slightly. On curve this gives you 1 mana on turn 4, which is really awful.
Should be 2/7 Taunt overload: 2. Turn 4 having 2 mana makes this playable.
