Shadow Ascendant is a minimum of 3/3 stats for 2 mana (if played properly) with the potential of greater value if you can protect it. By all measures, that's a pretty great 2 drop card, so priest has clearly come a long way if everyone is saying that this great 2 drop isn't good enough to see constructed play due to Radiant Elemental (and maybe even Mana Geode for elemental priest).
I mostly agree that this is great in arena and hard to fit into a constructed priest deck today, but I wonder if there's enough value in protecting Northshire Cleric that this card will be important. My mind immediately goes to Archbishop Benedictus - if he's ever going to work in a serious deck, that deck will need to be able to draw a lot of cards in the midgame, and protecting Northshire Cleric will be critical for that goal.
absolutely trash, you won"t play in instead of the radiant elemental , and you won't play it instead of anything else neither because others slots are used for better cards after the first two turns, also can"t be healed without power world so can"t be used with the cleric. As main priest i conclude : complete garbage
Not comparable to Radiant Elemental at all and it can be used with cleric because it makes it a 2/4. Big clerics are game winners.
i have 2k wins as priest you all are just trash payers haha
and yes it is comparable as it takes a 2 mana slot, you won't play it just to give +1+1 to your cleric and anyway you need to have both or it is extremely useless, how many cards except cleric is playable soon after ? right only one card, but feel free to fil your deck with shit card like this, there is already better 2 drops not played as priest, there is a reason.
I am 12 btw
he only got a son with brain
This card might give priest a reason to play more one drops. If this cards supports priest dk archetype somehow, it might be really strong
3/3 worth of stats with pseudo-taunt for 2? With the right setup this could be better than totem golem.
Watch out for elemental priest next expansion.
I don't understand where this card would fit. It's zoo-y (aggro/midrange), but priest generally plays as control or combo. The only somewhat appropriate deck is dragon priest, and dragon priest doesn't want a 2-drop that's this weak.
considering this is priest and they can give it powerword shield its pretty good
imagine having coin and two of these = infinite value
by turn 3? you'd be dead against agro if you held these in your hand that long just for the value.
I do not understand why they did not give it 3 health OR 3 attack, but not both of course. Yes, its effect is pretty strong if it survives, but this is a class card we are talking about here, this is not a neutral card, class cards are allowed to be a little over powered. I do not think that 3 health OR three attack would have made this card so overpowered that it would become the bane of everyone's existence. I never play as priest, too much troll, not enough win. I find the class super annoying though, with every match taking 15 minutes or longer. And even I think this card could have been just slightly stronger.
Please don't. As a mage, priest minions are already hard to deal with, making it and another minion need Frostbolt to be eliminated seems a bit too much for me. Kabal Talonpriest is already too annoying by itself.
basically a better Young Priestess in every way.
Might seem some play... sort of fits the Priest meta... so its alright but not great... probably just a normal FTP card
A solid card without doubt.
Going to work well in arena for sure and maybe constructed as well if players want to play it as an early game minion.
A 2/2 body is not amazing but I would say it's solid.
Comparing this to Rockpool Hunter: it is missing 1HP and, most importantly, the +1+1 happening at the end of yout turn. Which means it will die easily (making the second +1+1 really rare), and it does not help to trade up your 1drop. Not sure it is going to be played.
It's a defensive type of card yes, but priest isn't known for aggro murloc decks. Put one behind a cheap taunt like Tar Creeper and it becomes quite the annoyance, especially in arena (you can follow up with hero power at turn 4 to stabilize even further).
Weird card. Shouldn't this be in the Paladin set? I don't see this replacing the current Elemental 2 drop.
